Fun fact for anyone curious. If you get reflection high enough you take no damage from reflected bullets, for sone resson these bullets also gain amp damage from the bee shield. (Idk if it works with ither shields too, but i know it worked for me with the bee.) The reflected bullets also trigger cloud kill, although you dont need full damage null for that one to happen.
Hey, just found your channel and subbed instantly. I have wholeheartedly enjoyed witnessing the sheer poetic suffering this run has put you through. Also, there's a fairly recent mod called "The Pre-Sequel's Level Scaling" on the Borderlands 2 Nexus. You can edit its value to further reduce the scaling of enemy heath, damage, (and gun damage). Setting it to 1 essentially makes every enemy and gun in the game stay at level 1 stats. This could make a jump only run somewhat more possible. Borderlands 2, but everything is level 1 and I can only jump ... ? In any case, keep up the great work!
Thank you! I'm glad some good could come of it. I feel like if I ever commit to that run though, it's gotta be unmodified. It is up there for one of the worst possible runs for the game. I can't imagine trying to even structure the video for something like that. Health values are high enough that even basic enemy fights would be a marathon. But if it's gonna be done, it's gotta be done right.
Definitely dont apply ice or ice packs directly to the skin for medical purposes, always wrap either the ice (itself inside a bag) in a cloth or put a bit of cloth on the area to which you intend to apply it, this helps ensure the wound stays dry, but allows the wound to be cooled while seeking proper medical attention from a licensed practitioner. First aid can save lives folks.
I thought the same thing initially. Aside from the difficulty of Pete, and beating the Bar Brawl in time... There's no way to start it that I'm aware of. The mission relies on you attacking someone first. The Death Race is unlocked after the fact, so it's a good ways in and inaccessible.
With health regen being what it is in UVHM, I'm pretty confident that you'd require something like the Grog Nozzle to even deal with basic mobs. Your health scaling vs enemies' is _not_ in your favor for such a run. And that's without factoring in things that you can't slag that also have shields... Like the Warden.
I clicked on this genuinely thinking you'd taken the bullet reflect mod and was wondering how you kept it up or scaled it. You poor poor bastard. I'm gonna go watch your iron cub run to see you having fun instead, I've done the iron cub run myself and despite the wait times, it was VERY fun. IC is actually pretty good.
Ah, that's the neat part. I didn't. As far as Iron Cub though, it was a _considerably_ more comfortable run, but also a reminder of how disappointed I first was in the writing. I think I definitely focused too much on that vs the run itself that go around. There were a few fights that required some weird problem solving. There was a lot of waiting for cooldowns. When it got going though, it tore through enemies like wrapping paper.
@@SpuddyCube Your purity to the IC run was astounding, I just cheated whenever Cubby didn't want to hit things. While the bl3 story sucked, I kinda didnt realise how much when you pointed out Siren powers existed right at the start... and the middle.... and the end. I also totally feel the pain when four (4) vault hunters stand next to T&T and just let them chow down on our friend. Twice.
What I’ve learned is that Recompense could be buffed from 10/20/30/40/50% chance to reflect health damage you take to 100% chance to reflect 1/2/3/4/5x the health damage you take And it still wouldnt be all that good
With regards to health? It would help a lot. I'm fairly sure that the damage resistance would hurt the possible DPS where it's needed in certain encounters. In every other instance, I think that it would have made the sustained DPS a lot higher, and the whole thing a lot less painful.
I feel like most people forget it's a skill, because it's really not great. It can theoretically be made better with some specific gear and skills, but it requires such heavy investment into a really suboptimal playstyle that it never sees the light of day.
Uhh... Enough to dissuade anyone from ever wanting to actually pay it. Funds are obviously nice to have, but I would feel terrible actually charging for something like that. Especially given that I don't know how many hours it would take, or if I could even complete it. There are many runs I would love to try. I can't say that it's one of them. Something like a game crash would be _devastating_ to experience. Maybe some day though. I would imagine it would be better to organize as a series of streams. At least have some company while losing what's left of my mind. And thank you! Glad you liked it, and I look forward to producing more! Hopefully some runs that are at least a tad less painful first for some time to recover.
I can't say that I have previously. Briefly looking into it, I'm not much of a podcast person, but I love the aesthetic. That part of the video might bear a closer resemblance to one Gideon Gleeful though.
@@SpuddyCube I see, I'll look into it, anyway the character that you reminded me of is this flock of Crows that thinks as one entity and often moves the crows in a way such as to resemble a person, they are called "the omen" and they don't do much more than follow simple orders and do fetch quests.
@@SpuddyCube "hello from the hallowoods" is a great podcast for anyone who loves a bit of nicely written-not so scary horror while also being the most inclusive podcast I've ever listened, it really is great
Honestly, all sound like great features. I've always been a fan of the creepy sort of style rather than horror. Coraline, as a for instance. And inclusivity is always appreciated. I'll have to see about sitting down to at least start up an episode.
Yeah, in a similar way to BNK-3R, the Warrior has a “death position” that it goes to when it’s at or under 5% health. The reason for this is because they have specific death animations that require them to be in said position. Unfortunately, unlike BNK-3R, the Warrior does not attack during its “death phase” and hence the run can’t truly be accomplished
I've wondered this for a long time, however my version was with Kinetic Refection too (I called it the Iron Maiden Challenge)(wanna try that? ...I'm not going to request it because I know this run was brutal). Thanks so much for an amazing video and for putting it out despite the fact that it can't be done. You are amazing to do this...truly. Also, you are very poetic. Considered a career in writing? You would be great at it.
I think it would have most of the same pitfalls, due to Kinetic Reflection being a kill skill. I personally went with life tap for what was effectively seven seconds of damage reduction on kill. It really didn't help that much. The need for Sustenance means hitting level thirty five before the build would be done. All of this to say that I don't think the run would be _that_ different. There are items such as the Antagonist or the Impaler that would fit thematically, but aside from the complications of acquisition, I think they would make things a bit too easy/problematic. Thank you though! That means a lot. I'm glad you could enjoy it! And that someone else had a similar question. As far as writing, I thought about it a lot when I was younger, but I'm pretty happy to write more recreationally. I don't know that I would be good enough at it to produce work at a professional level, but it's a lot of fun to try.
The new glitch with gaige makes sawtooth cauldron actually fun since I blitzed through it in just about 5-10 minutes max Buzzards include! Also, you poor soul, this was a devastating challenge to put yourself through, I'll definitely be subscribing though soooo silver lining?
I hadn't heard about it until now. That glitch is crazy to see in action! And thank you! That definitely is a silver lining. The enjoyment of others is always comforting.
Should have farmed up for a rough rider so that you can use incite and for its extra max health and resistances. Its from the bulwark from the hammerlock dlc. The palling around quest I think it was. Joltz has a video on it. Also as long as your phase doesn't do damage, couldn't you just use it? Oh yeah, the Rough Rider has 0 shield capacity.
Since shields aren't against the rules you should have probably used an adaptive shield to get more health and avoid at least some unwanted damage. Also DoT resistance for one element is a thing and I don't think Recompense works with DoTs Edit: yeah I wrote that like a minute, before you started using shields 😅
Idk if you’ll see this comment, but for the xp farm, couldn’t you farm the death race in the torgue dlc to get enough xp to get to level 45? I wouldn’t expect you to do it for this run, but it would be way more reasonable than farming fight for sanctuary dlc
Theoretically, but it would require getting through a lot of Torgue's DLC, and then dodging a lot of vehicles along the road. It'd be really inconsistent for the purpose of calculations and require a lot of focus for execution.
I was expecting you to pick up the rough rider shield; something to buffer your health and combine with the class mod to regen health, in theory you could stay in combat longer without needing to backup and stall for healing. Absolutely use an editor/cheat to cut out unreasonable grinding/farming though, don't matter the challenge. Also here's hoping bl4 retcons bl3!
have you considered using the peak for initial leveling as it is quite a bit faster than the FFS one IME... not sure if you use a script for FFS farming, but if you have to do it manually having skags jump at you and fall into the void, with the occasional rabid skag is quite a bit faster than hoping for mordecai to do a good job
I haven't considered it, honestly. I've done all of the farming I do for these runs manually, up until this particular run for what I would hope would be obvious reasons. I'll have to do some experimentation with it. I think I have at least a few runs in mind that it would help quite a bit if it is faster. Thank you!
They absolutely would make the entire run a lot easier, but that would also technically be using a gun. Those two do also have some specific requirements for getting them that would otherwise be against the rules, but Moxxi weapons in the general sense would have made things more manageable.
Would the game have been much different if you had save-edited to max level? I know that’s would mean ignoring the Fight For Sanctuary limit, but I am curious if it would have made the difference in the Warrior fight
It would have made things go a little bit quicker with the Warrior, but not all that much. The problem with most encounters is just how much faster enemy health scales vs their damage.
Yeah, this skill sucks, the problem is that enemies usually down you with group tactics, their individual attacks are pretty weak, and thus do very little to each individual enemy when they're reflected. And enemies that can down you with one attack... generally have a shit-ton more health than you do. That isn't even getting into UVHM where enemies regenerate way faster than this skill could do anything even approaching worthwhile damage.
Dumb question: When do you save-quit-reload to keep Mordy farming for you in FFS? Doesn't the mission auto-complete and trigger "The Dawn of New Pandora"?
You can technically quit out at any point before the objective is complete. In my testing, it was about two minutes, thirty six seconds after loading into the map that it would complete. For obvious reasons, I would suggest quitting out well before that. When you load back in, you should be back to the same objective you left on. As soon as the box starts to check, all bets are off. I have since been informed of a farming spot in Digistruct Peak that seems to go faster. It's a bit hard to explain, and it requires a bit more effort, but it essentially revolves around you standing in a certain spot. The skags there can jump their deaths, and the rabid skags give a huge chunk of experience. Spitters do more or less force a reset of the area though.
As far as I'm aware, none of the obtainable Moxxi weapons give nearly enough to make a significant change to the overall run. Rubi would be a bit better, but I'm pretty sure you'd need to shoot something to get it. Obviously, the Grog Nozzle would be a heck of an improvement, but you'd have to melee someone to receive that.
But it's a unique item! Also, I was worried about the twenty percent damage reduction. I'm at least fairly sure it would reduce the rate at which I would be able to do damage when it would be the most helpful. I also haven't played through Hammerlock's DLC in ages. I'd have to get far enough to kill the Bulwark, which would have been its own nightmare... Probably. I love Alistair, but his DLC in the second game was dreadfully dull.
That is a very distinct possibility. Really though, he's been nothing but kind, and I appreciate him as a person/part of the community. I managed to get a pretty clean shot of Brick knocking a loader off of a cliff. It seemed like too good of a chance to pass up.
So THIS was the nightmare you were talking about, this should be good 😄

@@SpuddyCube That's fair. A run like that is borderline insanity, but I get your point. Well, best of luck in future sufferings!
@@tsbohc Thanks! I'm going to need it...
-spends 2.5 hours farming the first boss of the game
"LOL why are you hitting yourself??"
watching your soul leave your body in real time was *a time*. Good video, I suggest therapy
Thank you! And that's probably a good suggestion. But that doesn't mean I gotta like it!
masochism is always fun to watch :D
Well, I'm glad I could provide.
The reference to gasmask at 22:00😂😂😂
In one of miquegal's videos he talked about death race as an xp farm past level 30. That could have been another solution
I thought the same thing initially. Aside from the difficulty of Pete, and beating the Bar Brawl in time... There's no way to start it that I'm aware of. The mission relies on you attacking someone first. The Death Race is unlocked after the fact, so it's a good ways in and inaccessible.
Ah yes, "eating bullets" the build, the movie.
Legit my constant thought throughout this whole video was thank god you didn’t try this on UVHM or OP levels
Twice.
What I’ve learned is that Recompense could be buffed from
10/20/30/40/50% chance to reflect health damage you take
to
100% chance to reflect 1/2/3/4/5x the health damage you take
And it still wouldnt be all that good
Why the hell did I just have an entire 9th grade math class in a BL2 challenge video
I do wonder how much easier this would have been with the Rough Rider?
With regards to health? It would help a lot. I'm fairly sure that the damage resistance would hurt the possible DPS where it's needed in certain encounters. In every other instance, I think that it would have made the sustained DPS a lot higher, and the whole thing a lot less painful.
man deserves a million subs for this i will join into the ranks
I forgot this was a skill! I thought it was some rare legendary thing from dlcs xD
I feel like most people forget it's a skill, because it's really not great. It can theoretically be made better with some specific gear and skills, but it requires such heavy investment into a really suboptimal playstyle that it never sees the light of day.
22:02 puttin' the stinky on em'
I saw the stinky on that ion-loader, nice vid, putting the stinky on that like button
tell us the hourly rate the jump only run would take, this is great and more of it my guy
The silly voice at 7:50 reminds me of something I already heard...
Say, have you ever heard of "hello from the hallowoods"?
I can't say that I have previously. Briefly looking into it, I'm not much of a podcast person, but I love the aesthetic. That part of the video might bear a closer resemblance to one Gideon Gleeful though.
@@SpuddyCube I see, I'll look into it, anyway the character that you reminded me of is this flock of Crows that thinks as one entity and often moves the crows in a way such as to resemble a person, they are called "the omen" and they don't do much more than follow simple orders and do fetch quests.
That sounds awesome! This is from a podcast?! It comes across like peak TTRPG material.
19:45 Goated reference
Yeah, in a similar way to BNK-3R, the Warrior has a “death position” that it goes to when it’s at or under 5% health. The reason for this is because they have specific death animations that require them to be in said position. Unfortunately, unlike BNK-3R, the Warrior does not attack during its “death phase” and hence the run can’t truly be accomplished
I think using a grog would have been fair play
That would come with the requirement of punching somebody though, which is pretty frequently an issue with Assault on Dragon Keep related content.
It’s like listening to Jesse Eisenberg play Borderlands 2
One of these days, I really need to watch something with him in it. I'm familiar with the name/face, but I haven't followed any of his career.
high five, savequit, and you're good to go
You put the stinky on him
The new glitch with gaige makes sawtooth cauldron actually fun since I blitzed through it in just about 5-10 minutes max
Buzzards include!
Also, you poor soul, this was a devastating challenge to put yourself through, I'll definitely be subscribing though soooo silver lining?
I hadn't heard about it until now. That glitch is crazy to see in action!
And thank you! That definitely is a silver lining. The enjoyment of others is always comforting.
underrated
I love gravity falls! That was a good addition
It's such a good show! We quote it all the time in my residence.
Power nap I love that
commenting to assist in the algorithm, adore borderlands 2 content
Nice gravity falls reference
Since shields aren't against the rules you should have probably used an adaptive shield to get more health and avoid at least some unwanted damage. Also DoT resistance for one element is a thing and I don't think Recompense works with DoTs
Edit: yeah I wrote that like a minute, before you started using shields 😅
I reckon you could get through the entire dlc with recompense only and then farm hadarax for lvls by chessing him with recompense. Could be a strat?
love your content keep it up
Idk if you’ll see this comment, but for the xp farm, couldn’t you farm the death race in the torgue dlc to get enough xp to get to level 45?
I dont know how I miased this. What a miserable challenge.
have you considered using the peak for initial leveling as it is quite a bit faster than the FFS one IME... not sure if you use a script for FFS farming, but if you have to do it manually having skags jump at you and fall into the void, with the occasional rabid skag is quite a bit faster than hoping for mordecai to do a good job
I haven't considered it, honestly. I've done all of the farming I do for these runs manually, up until this particular run for what I would hope would be obvious reasons. I'll have to do some experimentation with it. I think I have at least a few runs in mind that it would help quite a bit if it is faster. Thank you!
I rejoice in your agony
I wonder if holding the grog nozzle or holding a ruby wouldve helped sooner in the run 😮
They absolutely would make the entire run a lot easier, but that would also technically be using a gun. Those two do also have some specific requirements for getting them that would otherwise be against the rules, but Moxxi weapons in the general sense would have made things more manageable.
Beautifully horrifc
How can you even be arsed 😂
See it started by sounding fun. Then it became painful. Then it was fun... And it was a really vicious cycle all the way up until the end.
I'd like you to use a mixxxi weapon as an exception for this run.
WOOOOO borderlands 2 content!!!!!!
its not a bug it the ai getting scared of your power haha
Rough Rider! Get the Rough Rider!
Probably. I love Alistair, but his DLC in the second game was dreadfully dull.
put the stinky on em
22:01 was that a lilgasmask put the stinky on em reference?
That is a very distinct possibility.
Really though, he's been nothing but kind, and I appreciate him as a person/part of the community. I managed to get a pretty clean shot of Brick knocking a loader off of a cliff. It seemed like too good of a chance to pass up.
