- Lake Baikal is a World Heritage site. Nicknamed "the pearl of Siberia", it has always been the pride of Russia.
A handful of men and women live beside Lake Baikal all year round. The atmosphere of the lake works its magic on these people. They're attached to their traditions and to these waters which they depend on for survival. But in winter Baikal is frozen.
Boris, Vitalie and Anatolie were born here. These hardy men consider themselves to be Siberian first, Russian second. Just over 100,000 people live on the shores of the lake, scattered in isolated villages.

This lake both interests me and terrifies me
How old is this documentary? It must be at least 20 years old. Probably more. This is nothing like it's today. It would be nice to at least see such details in the video description. I couldn't find anything about this documentary online. Especially the year of release.

Hvala.Greetings frim Serbia.
11 months of winter and then we have endless summer .....nice place to live. If they go fishing with the nets every day, soon there will be no fish, go easy on mother nature. And pollution, to dump bad stuff in to pristine lake !!!!!!!!!! NO NO NO. TH

Those people are not indigenous to that area.

It's always the humans and their distructive ways that messes up the good things in the world
