George W Bush imposed tariffs on steel and estimate say that the US lost 200,000 jobs. Those tariffs did not include Canada and Mexico, so it is not difficult to believe that this could be worse.
Gary Winegarden those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Those of us who do learn from history are doomed to watch trump repeat it.
If only people would like to look into the past, inform themselves, be seriously concerned about what is this president doing left and right without any knowledge of very complexed trade relations worldwide! Shaking, cutting, one-sided decisions primarily coming from Twitter where even his administration learns what he wants, is not childish, but so so irresponsible. That good economy that he doesn't stop talking about came out of respecting the existing agreements and hard work of American people, not from the chaos he is creating now. It will be different as the time goes by. The "business style" he was running his companies (and failed for bankruptcy few times!) is not the way to run the country.
Don't be too surprised if Trump gets re-elected that Canada gets refugees from America. This seems unlikely but what's happening now did, too. Trump has just as much declared war on USA'S citizens.
It won't be that easy as Walmart has a virtual monopoly over Canada's full service retail discount market ever since Hudson's Bay Company sold Zeller's to another American based retailer, Target, only to go bankrupt and close less than two years later. With Sears Canada closed for good, Walmart will now have greater control over Canada's retail sector. Costco doesn't count as its only available in Canada's major population centres, not towns or smaller cities like Walmart. Ever since Target closed in Canada in early 2015, Walmart has been giving Canadians a hard time, including a momentary ban on using Visa credit cards at their stores, and now having a nerve to charge 5 cents for plastic bags.
We need to support out own companies, industries, products, etc. We seem to always feel it is better if it comes from the US and Canadian products, companies and services are inferior. For the past 30 years we have been selling all of our businesses and our entire resource sector to the US. From a business perspective we have been dominated by the US. I do not like it. I wish we are A LOT prouder of being Canadian.
problem is that we are getting tons of your illegals here and they actually could end up being a threat to America,,, Our P.M. is an immature selfie who never should have been elected, but that is who Soros wanted and helped fund his election with a request to bring tons of refugees into Canada...

tt you're giving our representative too much credit. She was clearly pandering to the American audience to come across as the meek unassuming Canadian stereotype. And she did a lot of word gymnastics to avoid addressing a strait forward question. Is this a trade war or not? And yes it is.
Jennie Verrando I never said or implied she was bellicose. I stated that in Canadian politics our politicians use a tactic of avoidance when dealing with issues. I get that it's diplomacy, but when Americans are rendering judgement on us, I think it's better to be a straight talker than circumventing the issues. It's easier for people to misconstrue our position when our talk isn't supported with our walk.
@@karla.karlaabbott3254 your bias is showing - you are obviously not watching the same interview as everyone else. Too bad you have to be this way and show everyone how ignorant and rude you can be. You are probably a Trump supporter.
@@karla.karlaabbott3254, are you kidding me, Freeland's an airhead? She runs circles around so-called intelligent people. She's smart as a whip and will tell you what she thinks. That's rare in a politician.
This is literally Canada's _Minister of Foreign Affairs,_ a government official on par with the US Secretary of State. She has a BA in Russian history and literature from Harvard, and a Masters in Slavonic Studies from Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar. She left a lengthy career in journalism, having worked for the Financial Times, The Washington Post, The Economist, The Globe and Mail, and Reuters, to enter politics. This is a very intelligent, educated woman who (unlike so many in the Trump administration) is _highly qualified_ for her post. She explained the situation quite well, without blunders. She didn't slip up and give something to a middling CNN vulture who was clearly only looking for incendiary buzzwords and soundbites to run with, to be used to rile people up and boost their viewership, while continuing to sour public attitudes during a delicate time for our countries' alliance. She may not have answered Dana Bash's question, exactly... but it was an asinine and inappropriate question, to begin with. It was a damned trap, and Chrystia Freeland dodged it for a damn good reason. Want to know why Canadian politics are so much calmer? We do not sensationalize it and turn it into infotainment, to be sold for public consumption. Carefulness of speech is very important to that. Trump pissed off America's allies in a huge way, shooting America in the foot in the process, all because 1) he's lazy, and 2) he wanted to bypass Congress and play dictator. So he labelled America's allies a threat, just so that he could use an executive order. Personally, if I were you guys, I would consider this an impeachable offence. He may technically be within his legal rights to use an EO, but the carelessness with which he used it, for lazy, dictatorial reasons, and the ramifications, should be considered a YUGE red flag. He is isolating America and breaking up with all of its friends. So... when's the alliance with Russia going to be announced? Think really hard on that, Americans. This man is willing to destroy relationships with allies whose resources _you_ depend on, Allies whom you haven't warred with in more than two centuries, yet you are unnecessarily paranoid will turn hostile and cut you off. It's a fucking self-fulfilling prophecy! This will drive up the cost of a lot of things in your lives, and do little if anything to bring the jobs of dying industries back to you. You guys created your own employment and income inequality issues through _years_ of policies which made the rich richer and which negatively impacted the quality of life for the middle and lower classes. Instituting these ill-advised tariffs like this won't just harm international relations for the duration of his time in office, no... it could take _decades_ to regain the international community's trust and respect. It will be worse, the longer he stays in office.. He's got an ego and feels that the best stance towards _anyone_ is an antagonistic one. Had you not gone on this little anti-intellectualism tangent, you could have innovated, developed technology, raised the education level of the people, and developed _new_ industry. Thinking that you didn't get the absolute, most favourable deals that you could strong-arm your allies into is _not_ the reason for all of your problems.
Get off her nuts ain't nobody got time to read your random life story clearly written above. Get a life lmao like its your life duty to spread to gospel of this women.

Brandon Seawell not slow. The word you’re looking for is “measured”. You’re probably just used to hearing flippant, bellicose blowhards. She sounds like politicians should sound; BORING!! When your politicians are boring (true governance is largely a boring business done behind the scenes) then your country doesn’t become the dumpster fire reality show that the US has become.
You just wanted to say bellicose because she did. Sure she's 'measured' but also slow and speaks in circles, ineffective communicator. If you think governance is boring then I fear you might not understand its significance, and I fear the world where it is done 'largely behind the scenes' you obviously not only parrot verbiage from this lady but also her same idiocy.

Canada is very dangerous and I can offer testimony to that fact. I once met a Canadian who invaded my home, he made coffee without asking, made dinner without my consent and even fixed my garage door without permission. It was very traumatizing when he left and I had to undergo special care from my better half, his niceness left me scarred for life. I will never get the chance to taste Poutine again, I am still crying, that´s how dangerous Canadians are. We Danes are dangerous too, not that dangerous however.
The Spark - Trump never said Canada was a threat to our national security, he said "not having a steel industry is a threat to our national security". I don't know what kind of statement you're making with that load of stupid BS you're rambling on about, but, good God, go get some psychiatric help, child.
Take Five jimmy, quoting Trump word for word is not going to diminish the load of crap hes spitting it out any faster than you can shovel boy... when you get back to it tho, maybe you can tell us what he said about Canada burning down the White House....word for word ;)
Thanks for the good laugh. I never ate putine but my adult kids have. That would cause a terrible heart attack clogging the veins. LOL LOL. I am Canadian and I would never eat that. We all need a very good laugh and Trump is the joke of the US. We don't always know who we get as leaders and they are like bird cage liner they can all be replaced and discarded. Christia Freeland is very intelligent and polite. Can you imagine if we stopped the electricity and water when California lacks water and are not allowed to bathe and wash clothes in the same day. People don't know the half of what Canada can do to retaliate. My family and I don't purchase goods from the US at all. I used to live in a border town and we never went over the border nor purchased anything from the US at all.
Stop trying to force words out of this lady’s mouth. Canadians are more civil and professional, and will not simply throw inflammatory words around for the sake of feeding a country run by a drama teacher.
The right-wing trolls who think calling someone a teacher is an insult really display their disdain for both education and people who actually have to work for a living. Remember when an MP got up in the House of Commons and told a story about how he used to work as a bus driver and the Conservative MPs LAUGHED at him?? Yet they like to pretend that the Liberal Party is the party of the "elites" who are so out of touch with the "common man." What rancid hypocrites.
Sam Cee there is a difference between "throwing inflammatory words", and being intellectually dishonest. We're in a trade war. That's not an inflammatory statement, that's a fact. I think Foreign Affairs Minister was pandering to the American audience catering to a Canadian stereotype that we are meek and unassuming. This can backfire, because bullies prey on the weak. I think it's time for Canada to show a bit of strength without becoming arrogant and I think we will become more respected for it.
zammmerjammer yes that is how our minister of defense is a Hindu, our minister of infrastructure was born in India, but in the sake of diversity that is ok? Canadians are being sold out to the globalist push for immigrants to take over. Canada is not far from being a 3rd world country, but thank Trump for stepping up to the globalists. Real Canadians are awake!
Duh she he is canadian very articulate. I mean we have our crazies but they too are very well spoken, measured, clear and fair presentation but less thoughtful :)
She has a Masters from Oxford and she's a Rhodes Scholar. Ignorant fascists have been trying to discredit her all week by saying the only reason she's there is because she's a woman.
Americans clearly don't realize to whom they are speaking.. Christia Freeland is Canada's Foreign Affairs minister, which is the same as the US SECRETARY OF STATE! How about a little more respect. Dana Bash interrupts her, talks down and is generally condescending. Maybe do your homework before you interview people.
If it was a U.S. secretary of state in the same exact conditions in some foreign talkshow (unlikely but still could happen), then you'd probably say the opposite.. shows that the brain of the left is not very logical.
So do you have a clip for us of that even happening or not? Is there some foreign news network interview with Hillary Clinton, Condi Rice, Colin Powell or James Baker of them being interrupted by the interviewer while they were in office?
Does anyone care what it's called? Why is this interviewer demanding Chrystia put a name to it? How does that help? Dana Bash is more interested in getting a sound-byte here than she is about uncovering facts about an important story. Thankfully, Chrystia Freeland juet ignored her and calmly and rationally stated Canada's position.
Salterino Kripperino Quit NATO and who will fight for america, no one. enjoy living on soy beans and GMO foods full of cancer and drink it down with fracking water. The EU should call all the workers in the us back and see how america tries to cope..lol
As someone not involved I found it strange that there are so many important aspects and nuances to this conversation yet all the interviewer wanted was for the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs to declare that it's a trade war even though it was very clear she was not willing to do that. I thought the Minister spoke really well and very gently made it clear how destructive Tump's strategy really is.
Chrysthia Freeland our Canadian Foreign Minister is highly intelligent and has gone to universities in the US and is of Ukranian descent. This woman is very polite and is using words so as not to hurt the American people. You folks in the US cannot blame yourselves for what Trump is about. Trump is dangerous to the US as well as the world and in more ways than one. The man has lost his intelligence somewhere along the line. We Canadians understand you Americans but people from other countries will take a much more offence than what we do. Things can become very dangerous with Trumps big mouth and has to learn diplomacy. We Canadians are of no danger to the US nor the world itself.
Ian from FNQ totally agree I took part in the march in Melbourne. My comment was on our attitude to both countries I always thought we were happy to stand with Canada perhaps I misspoke.
I am in Europe and confined, a result of Covid. Europe's death toll (14 July 2020) from covid is 180,000 vs 138,000 in the USA so over all roughly the SAME for all those listening to CNN, MSNBC, NYT etc that would sink the boat to kill the captain out of blind hatred, start thinking the media works on clicks with clowns and lots of empty virtue signaling, they are such good people. They should take the locks off their doors, I'll need a roof when recovered and get back, how about taking the door off the bedroom too as I will need a place to sleep, got a car? Leave the keys visible, I might want to go out, and be sure to stock the refrigerator because I'll arrive hungry. Open borders? Open up your house, I've got a right to what you got. I am going to apply to the DNC lunatic asylum. Same problems in Europe, same leftist activists shaming people on the tax payers pinch to get what they want and call you a racist both coming and going while you are paying the bill. Covid cases are rising in Europe in some hot spots, often areas less affected than in the first wave. Kids went back in school in June, now out for the summer and back in the fall with no distancing for young children and common sense rules for older high school age and university age. When confinement ended in late May week by week fewer wear masks, guess people got tired of obeying or maybe just believe it has past or perhaps just want to get on with living. Life has an element of risk. No country in Europe can afford to shut down again or keep kids out of school. The government has started to remind people to wear masks as more hot spots pop up, same as in the USA. The main difference between Europe and the USA is NO COMING ELECTION and LESS INSANE and irresponsible media like CNN, MSNBC, and the NYT to gin up fears in people that get "news" from only one source and do not read or think to discount partisan hacks trying to take POWER. POWER is the reason and goal those FOOLS are in the streets tearing down American icons and statues while ignoring social distancing during pandemic and spreading the virus of hatred and discord. Those would be revolutionaries are crybabies fueled by resentment, ignorance, badly educated by propagandists in their schools used leftists and cynical Democratic party politicians and corrupt their media "allies" so easily exploited, we see lot of leftist activism in Europe. Their goal in Europe? Same as the USA, all they want to do is deconstruct your country and install a socialist state making America look like so many other failed states made up of warring tribes clamoring unfair, too much injustice, and give me more! You will never hear talk about merit as that goes against inclusion unearned. For those with an education and skills money does not discriminate by race only merit we hired all races and creeds and would have hired more if they had the credentials, only Asian Americans do we find plenty with great educations all near the top of their class. Get skills and education. Extortion is only going to get a few more political correct terrorists and "social justice" professors and their baby warriors hired, same as in Europe.
We're Canadians! Of course we're not as quick to call it a "war" as Americans are. Why must everything be so military, so us vs them? Always so divisive, always looking for a fight. We've been such close allies since Canada became a country! We've always been cooperative and happy to lend each other a hand. What's going on now?

It is very Strange both times a Trudeau was in office, the USA had a President in office that is legal problems ,,, Nixon .,,, Nixon and Pierre Trudeau did not get along in fact Nixon called him an Ass Hole ,,, Now we have Justin and Trump
I entered the federal government in Canada under Pierre Elliott Trudeau and he was one hell of a statesman and I miss that man very much. There isn't a time that doesn't go by that I don't miss that man as a great statesman and the world admired Pierre Trudeau and they had respect for him. Pierre Trudeau and JFK your former President are very high in my liking for leaders. Todays leaders are nothing at all compared to those two men and oh yes there is another leader Eisenhower I have to add that man to the list as well as a great leader. You don't find this kind of a calibre anymore no matter how far you try to find someone who are real leaders and intelligent.
You know what's rude? Canada not paying their fair share on defense to meet NATO requirements, and then smugly asking why we think they're a security threat. I love Canada, but "great allies," as Canadian foreign minister puts it, care enough to pay their fair share. They don't depend on the other country for defense so they can spend their money on other things.
Are you insane? She would be just as bad as the clown running the show now. He isn't even running the show, he hides away taking 20 days off in the last 5 weeks alone.
I have to admit, I really liked how the Canadian foreign minister conducted herself, she seems very well educated and likeable. Do not worry Foreign minister, we the U.K are still your ally!! 🇬🇧
Satisfactory Bagelfreund I am not even surprised. If it were possible, she would have been a great asset to the UK administration and a more appropriate choice for the US President!
Are you kidding me? Canada sounds too big for their britches. Canada has remained safe because of the USA. Don't ever forget that! Canada ought pump their brakes!
I can't believe this! As an American I am appalled. Canada has never been a threat of any kind in it's history...What is going on? And why do our female anchors sound like men, while Canada's representative is articulate, level headed and diplomatic while still sounding like a woman. I need to reevaluate my life.
Paul Moore you should, it's a real free country where everybody can have a decent life. Poor, gays, all religions or ethnicities, etc almost no violence and crime. We're always top 10 in happiness. It's crazy that Americans can't come up with some other term but war, everything has to be war, fight, war,...This interview shows exactly the difference between this two countries, one composed and the other so combative.

Ruska Bebic - I don't know where you come up with this crazy idea that all we think about is war, but those psychiatric pills you've been taking tend to have side effects.
we have a feminist that is ruining canada, in this country, we are not allowed to say anything about his refugees coming here to live n getting everything free, there is already 6 canadians in jail, not for violence , but speaking the truth, thank your lucky stars that you have president trump, running the usa, and no hillary, because you would have open borders by now so think long n hard about real life, and not what you wish real life is.
One analogy which Canadians can admit regarding what is happening to our neighbour to the south is this: Imagine you are sitting on the front porch of your house and you notice that your neighbour’s house across the street has begun to smoke. After a short while you see that the house has caught fire and you see your neighbours across the street come running out but instead of coordinating their efforts to put out the fire, they are running about the yard screaming at each other and accusing each other for having started the fire. ...then the firemen arrive but instead of using water to put out the fire they use gasoline and the house becomes engulfed in flames with the residents of the burning house continuing to run about the yard screaming accusations at the other for their burning house.
There was s nothing more annoying than a reporter who asks a question, gets an answer...and when she doesn't LIKE the answer, asks the same question over and over and over. Total lack of skill
Yeah it was as bright as day that she didn't want to use incindiary language but reporter still forced her to say something like trade war, trade feud etc. That's what happens when you report for the sake of headlines and not information
Little Miss Stamper no she didn't get the answer so she pressured her....I am not a fan of CNN BUT she did good reporting "If its not a trade war what is it." Problem is she didn't the Canadian politician had an answer and came back just as hard but not as fast. After watching this and slightly breaking video down, Canada is more scared than US and that is good for the US. Even CNN seems to be interested to see what Trumps angle is with this idea.
S.A. Rise if in a report someone says the car flew off a 300 feet hill you should automatically assume the driver is dead. Some things need not to be said out loud for people of average intelligence. Us slaps tariffs and everyone slaps back. What would you call this other than a trade war?

Danke from Canada. I worked with some German ladies and very nice ladies. My parents had German neighbors on another street and I remember them as a very young child. My husband visited Germany and said that some of the nature in Canada is similar to Germany - Germany is very beautiful. All the best to you from Canada.
little carrey Canada can flourish without the US. Maybe Canada should stop selling electricity to the US. The reason Canada sells so much steel to the US is because you don't make enough. Without Canada's steel, building projects in the US will slow down, and the price of steel will increase. These higher costs will be passed on to the consumer in the US.
Yes and even in the current, squabble, possibility of US tariffs on Cdn aluminum, Trudeau like last wk was pretty much the same firm , but polite like we generally are * s and made it clear that Canada viewed any such tariffs as unhelpful, even to the US , pointing out the US doesn't produce apparently enough aluminum domestically. This interview was so freaking painful to watch. The baiting was so obvious and uncalled from the interviewer. Chrystia Freeland not only showed her intelligence by keeping calm and professional. She showed what's wrong with most Americans (far right especially). Just want to start shit for no reason and put blame on everything and everyone except the person who put them in this situation. Themselves.
I don't like it when people make such broad claims about a group of people. Unless you know most Americans then you can't go around making claims like that is sterotyping.

I'm a Canadian, Retired truck driver. Hauled to the USA for 35 years. Met alot of super nice people. It's not the ordinary people that create problems. It's the politicians , and big business that create problems. The cause of all problems between countries are the politicians. Did you come home from work and say , what the hell, I'm gonna get America to bomb Mexico. Now, it's all about money. The rich will make more and the average worker gets nothing. And if it ever comes to a war, whose gonna be out getting shot. Not the rich, it will be the car washing guys. or cooks. They are the ones that getting the average person worked up to hate the other average guy.
It's not Dana. She's just playing devil's advocate. It's what journalists do. She can't just sit there nodding saying, "Amen, I hear ya, girl!" But you can tell she's laughing at her own questions and actually agrees with Chrystia.
Ms Bash - not a good interview. Dare I say partisan and interruptive? Not what I would expect from CNN. I guess she hadn't done her research before the interview. Well done Chrystia Freeland. Obviously no one's fool.
Ivor Thomas I agree. I normally like Dana Bash but thought she was kind of rude and found it odd that she was pressing Chrystia F to come up with a new word on the spot to replace the term for trade war?? That's the tough question she wanted answered?
As a Canadian I'll be honest, I was a little concerned as to what the reaction would be from the Americans in this comment section. I really am happy to see the amount of good will, kind words and support from our southern neighbours. Much appreciated and thank you, you're good people : D
You Americans are good people and don't be ashamed of your country because of Trump. I am not ashamed of my Canada because of who leads our country - we can vote them out if they become bad. I cannot see myself live anywhere else but my Canada - there is no perfect place anywhere on earth. My husband who is a Lebanese Christian Maronite did a great deal of travelling in past years and he even said that Canada is the best country on earth. Everyone sees theirs as the best and that is great. You never ever be ashamed of who you are or where you live. You can vote out the leader when you wish just like we can here in Canada and other countries. Trump is a joke and a real hillbillie idiot that lost his brains but Americans themselves are a good people.
What a silly comment. People who watch CNN hate Trump's guts. If this were on FOX, it would be completely different. You need to educate yourself a little.
There are plenty of good American people and that is so very true and I would never knock the American people just because of the oversized Orange Baboon. I feel very sorry for Melania since she is hiding somewhere from Trump. Canada is in no way a danger to the US. Someone mentioned about Trudeau giving $10 million to that terrorist and that terrorist is also a Canadian citizen. We don't know the full story behind all of this at all and I too am mighty agree and always have been. Trudeau gave $10 million to the Clinton Foundation as well and the Clintons pocket the money for themselves and do not give it to the people in need and again I am very very angry about this as well. No politician is perfect and they do terrible things that we all don't like. Who are we going to elect? The Conservative leader for the feds here in Canada is a weakling. We are stuck until someone better comes along.
TheJules1003 Go to the Clinton Foundation's website. There you will find their financial statements that account for every penny. You won't find any financials on Trump 's. You can't hide money taken from the foundation, to pay off personal lawsuits, very easily.

Excellent response! The Canadian politician responded very politely, in a very thoughtfully, friendly and smart manner. Canada is the BEST neighbor that US officials should always respect and work with for the sake of serving well our people living in these two countries.
Do I detect a hint of uncharacteristic (for CNN) impatience, disinterest and even hostility from the interviewer here, or is it my Canadian bias? Chrystia Freeland could wipe the floor with you Dana Bash.
Not a hint, that was pretty strong and direct and America deserves it. I am an American citizen and I am floored by what I just heard as well as what Prime Minister Trudeau said. I am shaking in my shoes. Canada, he's thrown all of us under the train with his domestic policies and actions. He has never studied foreign relations, history, Constitutional law or anything needed by a head of state. He is a madman.
Trump is the only president of the USA who has ever referred to himself as a dictator, at least in public. As a dictator, you never want people below you to be better or smarter than you are, or they will have more power than you do, simply by understanding things you don't. So you get rid of the good ones and hire worse. Slowly but surely, society crumbles, because you actually need good people to run things.
One thing is these Canadian people interviewed are all pretty well spoken, and healthy looking, probably due to their free college and healthcare system. Its a little interesting how this host tries so hard to get an emotional reaction, but fails miserably.
We don't have free college, only the Ontario government covers tuition for eligible students. Healthcare also isn't free, it's paid for in taxes. Sadly, the conservatives are trying to gut public healthcare. We definitely have our own set of problems, that's why it's so important that we defend ourselves in this "trade whatever you wanna call it".
It is hard to get emotion from someone who has no idea what they are talking about. You have to understand the entire situation in a deep, meaningful way to be able to say anything of any importance.

An absolutely shameful display from CNN. What could have been a genuine opportunity to display curiousity in support of driving insight, we ended up with a shallow FOX-like adversarial interview that provided nearly no new information, and that was more concerned with controversial headline generation than anything else. Hold yourself to a higher standard CNN - Dana Bash, this was transparent and pathetic.

The USA used to have quality politicians and quality education, but bigoted Evangelical Christians ruined all of that over the last couple of decades, resulting in the Non-United (quite divided) States of America. How die-hard christians could put their support behind pussy-grabbing, adulterous Trump can only be explained by realizing that they are under-educated and easily brainwashed into thinking liberal values are bad even though most of them are poor and liberals are the ones that help the poor, instead of catering to big business. It's a shame that stupid people do stupid things.
Dana Bash was trying so hard to distill this very intelligent and well spoken lady's comments into a few buzzwords. WHY?! Ms. Freeland was making excellent points and saying them very diplomatically, whilst Dana just wanted her to say 'trade war' or some other buzzword she could flash across the screen and use as a hashtag. This could have been a really productive conversation that could have in turn informed the viewers of what these new tariffs actually mean.
* ignores everything apart from " I won't call it a trade war " "IF ITS NOT WAR WHAT IS IT !?!" Why do Americans always like to call things wars and battles
Actually i thought that was a little disconcerting considering it was a CNN journalist. Fox I can see behaving that way but why did she feel the need to get so caught up in labeling it a "war". I was really disappointed and happy the Canadian didn't take the bait. You could tell she got a little irritated but in true Canadian fashion she stayed firm but polite good on her.

The "business style" he was running his companies (and failed for bankruptcy few times!) is not the way to run the country.

s zylak HAHAHA, what Canadian products🤔🤔🤔
It won't be that easy as Walmart has a virtual monopoly over Canada's full service retail discount market ever since Hudson's Bay Company sold Zeller's to another American based retailer, Target, only to go bankrupt and close less than two years later.
With Sears Canada closed for good, Walmart will now have greater control over Canada's retail sector.
Costco doesn't count as its only available in Canada's major population centres, not towns or smaller cities like Walmart.
Ever since Target closed in Canada in early 2015, Walmart has been giving Canadians a hard time, including a momentary ban on using Visa credit cards at their stores, and now having a nerve to charge 5 cents for plastic bags.
s zylak there are no Canadian products? , buying from China is cheaper, that will never change.
We need to support out own companies, industries, products, etc. We seem to always feel it is better if it comes from the US and Canadian products, companies and services are inferior. tt you're giving our representative too much credit. She was clearly pandering to the American audience to come across as the meek unassuming Canadian stereotype. And she did a lot of word gymnastics to avoid addressing a strait forward question. Is this a trade war or not? And yes it is.
Vis Forvendetta totally disagree. Her words weren't bellicose which is important in diplomacy, but she was measured and clear. I saw no gymnastics.

The Spark omg you are so funny
Stop trying to force words out of this lady’s mouth. Canadians are more civil and professional, and will not simply throw inflammatory words around for the sake of feeding a country run by a drama teacher.
says the one that has their `s run by a reality tv star
Say it! Say chowder!! *I mean trade war*
She can articulate a thought clearly and concisely. Wish more people could do that. Education is a wonderful thing.
Hopefully better elocution and verve than Justin trudeau...
Was just thinking the same thing! Jealous of her speaking abilities.
She’s so well spoken, thoughtful, and measured. A clear and fair presentation.
MFQ Yahoo Bless Chrystia! Beautiful job representing our beautiful country. 🇨🇦
Thank you for saying that. I agree she is well spoken and represents Canada very well.
Of course, she is a Canadian.
Lesley McCombe thats why cnns cancer and why politicians in the u.s are trash.
If it was a U.S. secretary of state in the same exact conditions in some foreign talkshow (unlikely but still could happen), then you'd probably say the opposite.. shows that the brain of the left is not very logical.
Feel free to find examples for your assertion of US Secs of State being interrupted by foreigners.
Certainly did not have to look long then. xD
So do you have a clip for us of that even happening or not? Is there some foreign news network interview with Hillary Clinton, Condi Rice, Colin Powell or James Baker of them being interrupted by the interviewer while they were in office?
Talk about bellicose and unforgivably rude, this woman in blue needs a damn strong lesson in manners and being polite to your guest! Sheeesh!
Exactly what I was thinking. Sound bite for a headline.
Its not a trade war, its reactionary tarrifs. Maybe that would have helped. But you hit the nail on the head there.
Carl N Reciprocal tarifs? Does that work too. The reactionaries would surely be triggered.
And that my friend, is the difference between the U.S and Canada when it comes to news

Its not America alone - lets not forget Russia. Its America and Russia together. Guess which one is the bitch in that relationship.
I stand with Canada.
And we stand with you thank you .

Extortion is only going to get a few more political correct terrorists and "social justice" professors and their baby warriors hired, same as in Europe.
dianna cooper Bullshit.
We're Canadians! Of course we're not as quick to call it a "war" as Americans are. Why must everything be so military, so us vs them? Always so divisive, always looking for a fight.

I rarely do this, but the Canadians are right on this issue.
Canadians usually are.
On most issues.
One analogy which Canadians can admit regarding what is happening to our neighbour to the south is this:
Imagine you are sitting on the front porch of your house and you notice that your neighbour’s house across the street has begun to smoke.
Sounds like their response to the pandemic.
Michael call your congressman and Senator. Tell them exactly how you feel. Please and thanks.

yeah... but what would you call it?!
Yeah it was as bright as day that she didn't want to use incindiary language but reporter still forced her to say something like trade war, trade feud etc. That's what happens when you report for the sake of headlines and not information

Problem is she didn't the Canadian politician had an answer and came back just as hard but not as fast.

It's the politicians , and big business that create problems. The cause of all problems between countries are the politicians. Did you come home from work and say , what the hell, I'm gonna get America to bomb Mexico. Now, it's all about money. The rich will make more and the average worker gets nothing.
Believe me we're waiting for the effigy too
There are plenty of good American people and that is so very true and I would never knock the American people just because of the oversized Orange Baboon.

He is a madman.
p.s. He has appointed people as under-educated and no experience in their fields to head his entire cabinet
Uncharacteristic? This is their M.O.
No that reporter is an ignorant bitch!
One thing is these Canadian people interviewed are all pretty well spoken, and healthy looking, probably due to their free college and healthcare system. Its a little interesting how this host tries so hard to get an emotional reaction, but fails miserably.
Student Loans Are Cool college is not free in Canada
We don't have free college, only the Ontario government covers tuition for eligible students. Healthcare also isn't free, it's paid for in taxes. Sadly, the conservatives are trying to gut public healthcare. We definitely have our own set of problems, that's why it's so important that we defend ourselves in this "trade whatever you wanna call it".
What Son of Babel said is not an accurate reflection of our politics... at all lol

It is hard to get emotion from someone who has no idea what they are talking about. You have to understand the entire situation in a deep, meaningful way to be able to say anything of any importance.
