My mom doesn’t like this movie due to her rat phobia. Me however still sees what truly makes Ratatouille a good movie and one of the best movies Pixar has ever made.
Ratatouille is my all-time favorite Pixar movie, and as much as I want there to be a Ratatouille 2, I don't think Pixar should do it, given how they've done sequels like Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 which don't recapture the magic and charm of their predecessors, so in short, Ratatouille is so perfect that it doesn't need a sequel
@@BethGoth15I think one is a antagonist, Anton Ego, as he works against the protagonist but doesn't active try to harm him but Skinner does, making him a villain
The scene where Remy's food literally sends Anton Ego back to his childhood, I felt physically warmed during that few seconds. Why isn't Pixar like that anymore? They used to be able invoke real feels with literally seven seconds of animation.
Rattatouie is a very basic dish served at home. It's not a basic dish how the movie serves it. Not at all, but what it is is taking the best ingredients and just letting them speak for themselves. No pretense, nowhere to hide. Just letting your veggies be their best selves
Well the theory is that the old lady in the beginning is Ego's mom so that's why Remi chose Ratatouille as the final dish. It's a comforting simple dish that Remi and Ego grew up on. But of course since Ego is now a world renowned food critic Remi will want to up the simplicity of the dish, but still capture the comforting vibe when they were younger
I watched this movie by accident months before it came out Me and my sisters went to go watch pirates of the Caribbean at world's ends and they ended up playing this movie instead My sister was mad but I was happy and fell in love with the movie lol
This is indeed a great movie to watch, I personally love not only the final review of Ego at the end, but also the scene where the staff's backstories are revealed by Collete to Linguini, as it further reinforces the beliefs of Chef Gusteau that anyone can cook. Knowing that the saucier was a circus performer, the sous chef is very mercurial, the other two assistance chefs were a gambler and a resistance fighter, yet each of them make a formidable team that can cook some great food, with also Collete herself being a woman who worked her butt off to prove she was just as good as anyone, makes the tenants of Gusteau's philosophy all the more palpable.
I watched Ratatouille at a time when I was completely against 3D animation (I hated it, because it replaced the beloved 2D I grew up with). YET! This movie impressed me so much that I learned to accept 3D. The portrayal of Paris, the characters, the food, everything looked so amazing that won my heart. Trully beautiful movie.
I'm proud to say that I "liked" this video..."WITH THIS THUMB!" XD All joking aside, what a terrific assessment of what has since become my favorite Pixar film. 'Ratatouille' has everything: charm, adventure, nostalgia, a brilliant and engaging plot and even a little romance. Plus, those realistic-looking dishes make for a food lover's wet dream. It truly is a stand-out among Pixar's classics.
Stop posting out all these BANGERS bro, how are you so consistent with your quality and quantity? You got that perfect 50/50 split bro and they're all edited. I don't and well never understand how you're not burnt out, PLEASE take a break before it's too late... Burnout sucks.
When I was a student in Russia, I had a mini laptop. Without internet, I could only watch one animation: Ratatouille. I watched it almost every day while eating dinner and was never bored of this cartoon. Perfectly fits while you're eating haha
I miss this more adult undertones to Pixar movies. It's not that their films today can't have meaningfull or deep messages, but it's more like they are adapting it to more a kid-friendly tone, and it just sound disingenuous and a little condescending. Movies like The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, and even Monsters Inc. carried very honest, hard-hitting themes that really resonated with me, mostly because it didn't looked like they're treating me as a kid. Must be the nostalgia, or just early-boomerism, but i feel this way..
The movie is extra hilarious for chefs and cooks. Every scene with Remy or his family in the restaurant is a serve safe nightmare. Remy ending up IN THE FOOD as it’s being put in the oven and barely escaping. Remy getting on the service cart and going into the dining room (which is also a PR nightmare.), Remy being on the shelf in the walk in. 💀
I recently saw this movie for the first time and I loved it! I’m still not over the moment when Anton Ego tasted the ratatouille; the way they animated his emotion was beautiful! Between that piece of animation and the review he wrote, I shed a tear 🥲! He didn’t just write a review; he opened a vein and bled a little!❤
When i was still a little kid who had a Trashy laptop and only this movie and 3 others where on it, i watched this one over 15 times. I loved it, when i got home after school i hopped on my laptop which took ages to load just to watch this one movie again. Now, this is nothing crazy to me anymore, but when i hear the word Ratatouille, i feel incredibly nostalgic and happy.
Another video heaping praise on this magnificent movie?? HELL YEAH! I watched it to pieces back when I was a kid, I have so many sweet memories of it. And the quality is still *chef's kiss* holding up! A little bit of fun trivia I like to share with people; in the Swedish dub, Remy is voiced by Gustaf Skarsgård :) One of many reasons why it will always be the OG version to me (yes, I admit nostalgic bias, sue me)
You didn’t mention that in Anton’s flashback of his childhood you see the gustos book in his moms kitchen and the kitchen is the same one in the beginning of the movie so they destroy Anton’s mothers house
When I was a kid, because of the accents and my underdeveloped brain, I could barely even tell what was being said by the humans. It almost felt like a French foreign film, and of course I never knew that subtitles were a thing. Having said all that, it has remained my favorite animated feature ever since, and I was able to follow along using Remy’s voice over and the tone set by music and animation alone. I just think that’s pretty impressive for the silly rat movie
I think my favorite part of this movie is the wave it created. I was born in 2004, and I remember a lot of my friends and other kids my age being inspired to go into a profession in cooking. I cannot say I’d go into cooking myself, but the movie inspired me to enjoy the act of cooking. I don’t think any movie has ever inspired me to do something like Ratatouille did.
This is my favorite Pixar movie, and my 8th favorite movie ever. There are still a few animated movies I like more (they are all from Dreamworks), but I just really love this movie. Ratatouille is something special. "Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere."

Just for the record, JelloApocolypse gave this movie a 6/10, the same score as The Good Dinosaur, saying it's a dull movie. Biggest. L. Take. EVER. Because this movie is fucking amazing, and probably my second favorite Pixar movie next to Cars 1
I really admire Brad Bird and Pete Doctor (The director of monster inc, up, inside out and soul, just WOW!!). For Brad Bird case, he came in Pixar afterwards. Then he made 2 masterpieces in a row(incredibles and Ratatouille). Afterwards he made the greatest mission impossible ever for me(4th one), also the best selling in the series. And he came back to Pixar , and made a sequel of incredibles that doesn't flop. Oh my God!! Please Brad Bird, Surprise me !!
Funny that the only thing to make me even slightly invested in culinary arts was a rat that had particular taste buds. Not even actual people describing food can get me into it lmao

He was called out for letting his colony steal from the restaurant, but the way that Linguini found out is ridiculous, and belongs in Minions. He is never punished for letting his colony die for rat poison, because nobody got poisoned. He had absolutely no consequences. In the beginning, Remy was on the roof during a thunderstorm, and even when there was lightning around he just ignored it. He then got shocked. What does he do? He is happy that the lightning cooked it so sharply that he wants to get struck by lightning again. But Anton Ego is a great character. That scene where he remembers his childhood and gets humbled is great, but I do prefer the scene with Collette's epiphany, along with many other Pixar scenes, such as the human world scenes from Monsters University, the terminated and plane crash scenes in the Incredibles, the ending of Inside Out 2, Soul, and Monsters, Inc, Buzz's existential crisis, and the memory dump and return to headquarters scenes in Inside Out. I would probably rank this 11th. Before I rewatched it, I expected it to be the end to the trilogy of overrated Pixar films with Toy Story 1 and Finding Nemo, but I guess that spot will have to go to something else, like Coco or Toy Story 2. Good movie, but too much shenanigans and terrible decisions to be considered a true masterpiece.
