    UPDATE FROM BODEGA: "Our portable fridges are temporarily out of stock. But we are busy in replenishing the inventory now! It is estimated that they will be back in September."

    Love this unit. Will need to build a Faraday cage to store it first. Perhaps by then it will be in-stock. Will probably get the 80 quart. Could be good for temperature sensitive meds

    I run two different 12 volt refrigerators (bought used) 24/7. I use solar & am very happy.

    What a great idea and additional back up. This world also be great for people who have Medicines that have to be kept cold or refrigerated in an emergency situation.

    I've really come to looking forward to seeing what you review next. I've been checking different ones out for a while now and would like to see real life food in one of these things. Like a gallon of milk, dozen of eggs, couple bricks of 1 lb. Cheeses or Kraft slices. Thanks for the info,I do appreciate it.

    Well, that fridge looks really nice but as you said it is a bit pricy and i think it will do just fine with a simpler model than the one you have. And i guess it depends on what kind of needs you have.

    Are you happy with the size? What are your thoughts for a family of 3 for 3 or more days off grid or camping? Should I consider going up a size?

    • @Iridium242

      Yeah that is the good thing about this, You can make larger ones and build multiples so with more of these its like having a multiple burner stove. i should do a build on a larger version as well.

    You can't go wrong with that. I see it is sold out, I got the Iceco jp 45 and my girlfriend has the alpcool dual zone fridge. We run them off our jakery's with solar. Best investment for every day living while traveling or emergency. What gas generator do you use?

    • @able880

      This is Depending on what you plan to run - I like the LIFAN ESI-860i-CA - full running watts is 600watts - it states it will run 5 hrs at half load - most don't know this but half load of a generator is 25% of the rated load not 50% - so this generator will run 5 hrs at a 150 watt load - I use mine for battery charging using a solid state charger it draws 100 watts and the generator will run 7 hours on 1.5 quarts or 1.4 liters of small air cooled engine fuel or gasoline - I don't use mine often so I just use small engine gas sence it leaves no residues in the .carbrator - I just run it out of gas then put it up till the next time - I realy like it sence it's s inverter generator also it only weighs 15 pounds - but your limited to how much load you can put on it - also it can be slightly difficult to start - ive loaned it to some friends, this yr sence its rained steady sence February down here in the south - I have friends that live deep in the woods that rely on small solar panels to charge a battery to run a 1 watt LED light and a small radio - they have been borrowing that gen once a month for several months - to charge there battery's for there camps or homes they live in - there all impressed about it's performance there talking about going to get work so they can buy one - at HD there around $200 if your charging a flooded or AGM with the 12 volt out put you have to run it with the economy mode off - when it's on the economy mode the 12 volts is at 13.2 volts - were as when it's in full run the 12 volt out put is at 14.7 volts that's the charge voltage for flooded & AGMs hope this helps you - on all small camping generators the voltage is slightly spikey - means if you use 120 volt LED lights you will notice some RMS ripple - I don't know how much of the country you cover - solar panels are next to worthless in the south central and south east - any place the humidity is 70% average solar panels will only give you 20% of rated out put - mosture defuses the sun light from directly hitting the solar panel also most days there clouds & there is only a 2 hr window - panels work well in the SW were it 5% humidity with a 5 hrs solar window - the winter's in mountains make solar worthless - by profession I'm a offshore and remote mountain oil field systems engineer - every were I worked it was off grid - I used a Honda 600 watt camping generator for 30 yrs - I bought the LIFAN after speaking with pipe line surveyors that live out of tents often, or yr round - they use 12 volt fridges but there the high end units there around 5-10k - in the end they like that LIFAN so I went with it also - it will not run coffee pots or small air-conditione - you need to be in the 1400 watt full watt running out put for those things

    • @able880
      @able880 3 роки тому

      Even in areas that the humidity is 35% solar panels don't do very well - with solar - when I did field work we just figured as we went if the solar worked we used them - even in the 80s they were making thin film flexible panels - so it's not new technology - also we used 12 volt inverter fridges on man camp sights in the 80s - you burn 1/6th the fuel on hybrid so when we were in areas difficult to resupply we went hybrid to reduce fuel consumption

      @@able880 I live in the south west so solar works great for me,( but you brought up a really good point about humidity that most don't know.) one of many reasons I want options to my power system. I am looking in to the 2500 range nothing to big but enough to power to run a high drain device. It must be mobile that is the key point.

    • @able880
      @able880 3 роки тому

      Is that for a camper, or living off grid - when it comes to generating power there is not an easy answer - a coach is generally set up for a bulk load of 2500 watts - at that rate using an inverter diesel 8 kw Onan generator they burn about 60 gallons a week - you won't get that efficiency with a inverter air cooled gasoline generator - to get that efficiency with an air-cooled engine it would have to be a 2or3 cylinder engine so it could run at a lower RPM -

      if your wifi is 5G It wont work, you should have 2 wireless connections to connect to in your home, use the 4G or ask your ISP which one is 4G, no idea why they did it that way but that is how it works.
