I think the whole reason strat bombers have high SP in ground rb is a relic from AGES ago to when bomb targets (like in air rb) were in ground matches. If I remember correctly, you could bomb 3 of those, then kill the airfield just like in air rb to win the match
2000 GE and a 3 month dedication to play the game and grind and do challenges for 2 semi unique vehicles lmao. They should have kept the three, and replaced the 10 days of premium time with the trophy of a random vehicle from a previous battle pass. But they didn't. Because they're being lazy about it. And normally I wouldn't call it laziness given that they might use that same time to implement and test new features, but they aren't reducing the price or the grind for the battle pass. So I label it as lazy. Maybe they don't want to lose any profit while they're trying to better the game, but they should take the small loss to strengthen their relationship with their community. The more your community loves your game, The more people will come to play it. Hell divers is a tribute to that, balders gate three is a tribute to that. It's just PlayStation killed the former and I'm hoping it recovers because they deserve the recovery.
1 of the only saving graces they can do is give the battle passes 1 more vehicle and the crate where you can get any vehicle of the old battlepasses and give the battlepasses a certain amount of GE (like 500 GE)

Hmm do I want a fat pig of a flying boat that'll get shot down before I get anywhere near where I want to bomb or the BTD which is only 0.3 BR higher, is about 200 kph faster, has a much better chance of reaching a base and is infinitely better at naval battles? Such a hard choice....
SP cost on a plane is also based on what belt/shell type you put on it. Any gun 23mm and up on just AP sets SP cost up to 150 increase. Like the Stuka with the the twin 37mm guns gets a SP cost of 631 just with AP, and its not even that good.
Hey odd according to some research and a suggestion on the forum, the Sholef is supposed to have Thermals, a LRF, Leopard 1 mobility and at least 40°/s turret rotation, and in game has the wrong cannon, They even got the weight wrong. It’s amazing how they butchered another Israeli vehicle.
What sucks about this is my great grandpa was a radioman on the PBM-5. Would have been great to get even though it's just another bomber at low tier. It's a shame that something I could have connected with my grandpa with is locked behind a mediocre battle pass paywall.

Also another thing to mention with the new battlepasses is that all the profile pictures are just AI generated slop. Just worse all around, not even any wee woo lights to make up for it.

The A2D Skyshark sits at 9.0 despite having an only okay bomb load, far slower than the jets it will face, and no flares. The A1-H sits at 6.7 despite being able to carry 18 500 pound bombs, can equip fucking MINIGUNS, and has flares? If anything, the Skyshark should be at a BR like 7.0 and the A1-H should be at 6.7-7.0. (A1-H is fine where it is, just doesn't make sense to be 2.3 BR lower than A2D)

My PBM-3 still has the sea mines. I took a bit of a break recently; but in the time I was active, I don't recall them ever being removed after they were added. The Mariner is okay for me in Ground RB. I use the 1000 lb since I find the mines to be too inconsistent. The fact that the plane can turn on a dime with such a large payload is a huge plus for level bombing on the small maps.
Yea, it would add another layer of strategy to the game, however it has to be a rewardless act... it's like with a ground vehicle, you are getting nothing, no score, no rp/sl for just decaping a point. If it would grant you a "hit" reward, oh boi...
CAS is a really fun element in War Thunder but I agree with the balancing issues especially as a German main. German CAS tech tree suffers in the low-mid tier (high tier isn't great either but less to complain about). Ju-88's and the other Ju models are surprisingly effective CAS platforms but are significantly overcosted and vulnerable compared to American fighters/attackers. Then you have the me-410s and Do series planes with the same issues (over 900 sp to bring full AP belts and bombs). What cost effective CAS does Germany get? Bf-109s with single bombs. That's it. American players basically play air rb in ground rb while so many other nations suffer.
honestly, the biggest issue i have with the BP is the time limited challenges, timegating them is fine. but they should be active until the BP ends. also dont like how they force you to play gamemodes you dont like. as some one that dont play a lot, its almost impossible to advance the BP without doing the challenges and doing daily stuff... and this is ofc by design because they want you to buy levels. which is stupidly overpriced.

I liked how in the very early days (I think beta for Ground Forces) the aircraft had their own bombing targets on the big map. You see the reason why ground forces' map is embedded like that in the bigger air map is that there were usual bombing targets (bases like in RB Air). Destroying them had an impact on the score/tickets. Gaijin removed this, unfortunately, I think when they introduced the Spawn Points in the first place.
Unironically they should do 3 new vehicles and the rotating trophy to get older vehicles into the hands of new players. But Gaijin absolutely wouldn't ever do that.
If you want a fun low-tier bomber experience, the PBY-5A is the way to go. It has four 1000lb bombs on the wings, a 9mm armor plate behind the pilot for defense against 7mm guns at BR 1.7, and it's far more maneuverable.

It would be nice if tried to make bombers more viable in mixed battles. In naval you will die 99% of the time in your spawn as well. Your bombers will verse ships with air-to-air missiles.

Good stuff as always Odd. Both vehicles are going to be underperforming targets for anything else in any other tech tree. And if a Russian vehicle even LOOKS in your direction while you're in either of these vehicles you will spontaneously detonate. More one-sided crap like this is exactly what the snail is about.
I mean, Gaijin has made it pretty clear they don't want people playing level bombers. Naturally they're slow and unmanuverable but they're also the most fragile aircraft in the game - a few machine gun rounds and they fly apart instantly. They also can't actually do anything in air mode, and you're showcasing why they can't be used in ground either.
This and the OG mariner are kind of sad vehicles that dont really fit in to the game anywhere tbh, try playing it in air RB/AB and you will get eaten up 9/10 times without even reaching a base to bomb. Its so slow, giant and doesnt climb well, everyone just sees you as a flying piñata. Even in its natural environment, naval, its completely useless and will get nuked by every ship on the map opening up on you before you even come near the battlefield, especially at 3.7 naval. Its almost like these types of vehicles are just added as glorified collectibles. Would be cool if they had PVE modes where this could shine, but that will never happen.
The prevalence of OP CAS in GRB has had a silver lining: I have quickly learned how to dogfight in my Spitfire and have had tons of fun blowing dudes out of the sky
I think what they really need to do is create a system that generates a SP cost more dynamically based on a number of factors. Size of bombs would be a huge factor, but number of those bombs would also matter. What you put those bombs on would also matter though, with bombers getting a multiplier like 60% cost, attackers getting a bit more of a flat cost and fighters getting a 150% cost increase. This way fighters are more incentivised to take smaller bombs and focus more on shooting down other aircraft while proper ground attackers can be a bit more ground focused. Bombers though, they should honestly be some of the cheapest to spawn ( with loads) as their bombs are really their only armament. Fighters with no load would also be cheap to fight back against other aircraft though. I would still say that radius of destruction should matter too though, so bombs like the fab 5000 on the Pe-8 would be quite expensive to spawn compared to a B-17 with a handful of 1000lbs. They also need to take a look at bomber BRs in GRB too. There's no justification of the B-17 being a higher BR than the Pe-8. The Pe-8 flies almost like a fighter with wings that can be tough to rip off. The B-17 can barely turn without ripping itself apart. Bombers need to be a bit sturdier too as even if you manage to shoot down a fighter with your defensive guns, one strafe on you is often enough to cause your death later anyway due to the damage sustained.
Same BR as the PV2D which has 6 sea mines, 8 rockets, 8 nose mounted .50s and is actually flyable Even at 3.0 the pbm-3 is abysmal i dont know what the hell they are thinking with 3.7, and for what? A radar? what good is a radar to a pbm lmao
I used to enjoy spawning my big dumb 4 engine bombers (the ones that don't have stupidly big bombs that kill through mountains) and carpet bombing stuff.. nowadays I spawn and get instantly cut in half by either a buzzsaw on the ground or a super fast cannon fighter hawking the air spawn...
I haven't subscribed to the battle pass for almost a year now. There's very little value in it recently. Surprisingly, I have just as much/more fun playing, because I'm not worried about grinding specific things. I just have fun.
the BPM is going to be mainly an SIM bomber for the grind it will never work in Air RB or Ground RB only a simulator battles type of bomber because it's easier to kill enemies in gunner because most enemies are using joystick or their keyboard or mouse aim which cannot be accurate when shooting i think if you take it at Ground Sim it might work out tho you have to still know where the freindly forces are
The Mariner would be great if Naval was actually a good mode, Make the map bigger, add submarines, etc etc I would be fine if 2 updates were only dedicated to flushing out Naval and making it everything it deserves to be
I never used to use cas but with the way it is I wish I started using it sooner, you can quite easily turn a not so good game in to a decent one and get an almost 100% chance to make enough SP to get another tonk
Big bombers like this are much more responsive if you’re using realistic or full real keyboard controls rather than mouse aim. It’s pretty useless at turning and you never need to point their nose in a very specific position.
At least its not as bad as what they did to the arty. It should have laser rangefinder, thermals, 2 plane stabilizer and a 6.67s autoloader but gajin decided no, it even has the housing for the LRF on the 3D model

I honestly believe gaijoobles needs to up the spawn point cost for all aircraft in Ground RB. It'd make matches much more enjoyable without having to worry about getting bombed a billion times
Because you, OddBawZ, played the Alecto at lower-mid tier, it would be awesome if you did the same with the Tetrarch I. I do it sometimes and it is hilarious killing German tanks with a 2pdr. I find that everything is weak to the APHE except for the Tiger I & II, of which you will struggle to kill with APCBC.
The only things of any value to me this time around are the boosters and backups since I don't touch naval, have decent enough air-lineups and can't be arsed playing Israel since I only play anything post-wwII to hopefully someday grind out the nation I main

I liked how in the very early days (I think beta for Ground Forces) the aircraft had their own bombing targets on the big map. You see the reason why ground forces' map is embedded like that in the bigger air map is that there were usual bombing targets (bases like in RB Air). Destroying them had an impact on the score/tickets. Gaijin removed this, unfortunately, I think when they introduced the Spawn Points in the first place.

Unironically they should do 3 new vehicles and the rotating trophy to get older vehicles into the hands of new players. But Gaijin absolutely wouldn't ever do that.

If you want a fun low-tier bomber experience, the PBY-5A is the way to go. It has four 1000lb bombs on the wings, a 9mm armor plate behind the pilot for defense against 7mm guns at BR 1.7, and it's far more maneuverable.

@OddBawz interesting fact about the new arty battle pass tank… it has two caracoles for ammo, an auto loader that takes 11.5 seconds, 5 cal penetrate armor, and useless rolled armor where the fuel tanks are
I think if they continue with the smaller BP, they should also reduce the price at least

It would be nice if tried to make bombers more viable in mixed battles. In naval you will die 99% of the time in your spawn as well. Your bombers will verse ships with air-to-air missiles.
1 of the only saving graces they can do is give the battle passes 1 more vehicle and the crate where you can get any vehicle of the old battlepasses and give the battlepasses a certain amount of GE (like 500 GE spread through out the BP)

Good stuff as always Odd. Both vehicles are going to be underperforming targets for anything else in any other tech tree. And if a Russian vehicle even LOOKS in your direction while you're in either of these vehicles you will spontaneously detonate. More one-sided crap like this is exactly what the snail is about.
I mean, Gaijin has made it pretty clear they don't want people playing level bombers. Naturally they're slow and unmanuverable but they're also the most fragile aircraft in the game - a few machine gun rounds and they fly apart instantly. They also can't actually do anything in air mode, and you're showcasing why they can't be used in ground either.
This and the OG mariner are kind of sad vehicles that dont really fit in to the game anywhere tbh, try playing it in air RB/AB and you will get eaten up 9/10 times without even reaching a base to bomb. Its so slow, giant and doesnt climb well, everyone just sees you as a flying piñata. Even in its natural environment, naval, its completely useless and will get nuked by every ship on the map opening up on you before you even come near the battlefield, especially at 3.7 naval. Its almost like these types of vehicles are just added as glorified collectibles.
Would be cool if they had PVE modes where this could shine, but that will never happen.
The prevalence of OP CAS in GRB has had a silver lining: I have quickly learned how to dogfight in my Spitfire and have had tons of fun blowing dudes out of the sky
I think what they really need to do is create a system that generates a SP cost more dynamically based on a number of factors. Size of bombs would be a huge factor, but number of those bombs would also matter. What you put those bombs on would also matter though, with bombers getting a multiplier like 60% cost, attackers getting a bit more of a flat cost and fighters getting a 150% cost increase. This way fighters are more incentivised to take smaller bombs and focus more on shooting down other aircraft while proper ground attackers can be a bit more ground focused. Bombers though, they should honestly be some of the cheapest to spawn ( with loads) as their bombs are really their only armament. Fighters with no load would also be cheap to fight back against other aircraft though. I would still say that radius of destruction should matter too though, so bombs like the fab 5000 on the Pe-8 would be quite expensive to spawn compared to a B-17 with a handful of 1000lbs.
They also need to take a look at bomber BRs in GRB too. There's no justification of the B-17 being a higher BR than the Pe-8. The Pe-8 flies almost like a fighter with wings that can be tough to rip off. The B-17 can barely turn without ripping itself apart. Bombers need to be a bit sturdier too as even if you manage to shoot down a fighter with your defensive guns, one strafe on you is often enough to cause your death later anyway due to the damage sustained.

I think the plane is actually more for naval mixed battles which is nice cause we naval players are always ignored

I used to enjoy spawning my big dumb 4 engine bombers (the ones that don't have stupidly big bombs that kill through mountains) and carpet bombing stuff.. nowadays I spawn and get instantly cut in half by either a buzzsaw on the ground or a super fast cannon fighter hawking the air spawn...
I did find out the hard way that sea bombs, or least bombs to hit naval targets, completely ignore the bomb timer. A bomb is a bomb.
I haven't subscribed to the battle pass for almost a year now. There's very little value in it recently. Surprisingly, I have just as much/more fun playing, because I'm not worried about grinding specific things. I just have fun.

the BPM is going to be mainly an SIM bomber for the grind it will never work in Air RB or Ground RB
only a simulator battles type of bomber because it's easier to kill enemies in gunner because most enemies are using joystick or their keyboard or mouse aim which cannot be accurate when shooting
i think if you take it at Ground Sim it might work out tho you have to still know where the freindly forces are
Charitably, you could make this thing a 2.7 and it'd still feel like flying target practice.
The Mariner would be great if Naval was actually a good mode, Make the map bigger, add submarines, etc etc I would be fine if 2 updates were only dedicated to flushing out Naval and making it everything it deserves to be
I never used to use cas but with the way it is I wish I started using it sooner, you can quite easily turn a not so good game in to a decent one and get an almost 100% chance to make enough SP to get another tonk
Big bombers like this are much more responsive if you’re using realistic or full real keyboard controls rather than mouse aim. It’s pretty useless at turning and you never need to point their nose in a very specific position.
I love the Chaffee so much, probally my favorite tank alongside the super pershing.
At least its not as bad as what they did to the arty. It should have laser rangefinder, thermals, 2 plane stabilizer and a 6.67s autoloader but gajin decided no, it even has the housing for the LRF on the 3D model

Aah, Gaijin, thinking fighters and other smaller aircraft are made of void metal and other incomprehensible materials. And bombers are sneezed out of the sky. Definitely a fun and balanced game.

I honestly believe gaijoobles needs to up the spawn point cost for all aircraft in Ground RB. It'd make matches much more enjoyable without having to worry about getting bombed a billion times
Because you, OddBawZ, played the Alecto at lower-mid tier, it would be awesome if you did the same with the Tetrarch I. I do it sometimes and it is hilarious killing German tanks with a 2pdr. I find that everything is weak to the APHE except for the Tiger I & II, of which you will struggle to kill with APCBC.

The only things of any value to me this time around are the boosters and backups since I don't touch naval, have decent enough air-lineups and can't be arsed playing Israel since I only play anything post-wwII to hopefully someday grind out the nation I main

The issue is planes like this should be used at night in a minimum 4 ship raid against targets that really don't know your coming.
