Pretty glorious tone. Love those Legends. Use them myself! Its always so much fun seeing the reaction on the drummer and bass player's faces when my amp goes toe to toe with them! These things have tremendous presence and energy in the mix with a bit of klon or a clean boost. I love mine to bits. For dirt, I use a pedal but for rock n' roll (Stones etc) these are fantastic.
@@morgancolgrave3570 They still don't do power amp distortion hehe. But a brutalised 12ax7 is still a glorious thing! Of all these amps the Super Reverb is probably my favourite. The RI is pretty good too!
Very cool. I've a 1976 Silverface Twin Reverb I purchased brand new (only $400). Back in the early 2000s I swapped in a pair of 12" EV SRO speakers (19 lbs. each). Not only was that the heaviest amplifier I've ever seen it was also the loudest! I found it almost impossible to stand in front of it and play at full volume, such a glorious thing for sure. Love the Twin Reverb, the PTP wiring has allowed me to use and abuse my amplifier for almost 50 years while only needing regular preventative maintenance. I've most certainly gotten my money's worth out of it.
Great sounding amp, love Twins. You have the Master volume timed but it looks like the channel volume isn't all the way up. These amps are a great way to get rid of kidney stones. :)
I have a 1976 Twin Reverb I purchased brand new for $400. That was back in 1976 and I still own and play that same amp to this day. I have no idea how I've held on to it all these years, but there it is, sitting there always ready!
I love how the camera shakes due to sheer sound pressure. Ant how the pilot light blinks in and out....classic. Great tone. Too damned loud! 130 tube Watts. You won't see those in the clubs anymore. BTW, a TS-808 or TS-9 or clone into one of those is tone heaven!!! Just TOO DAMNED LOUD!
Ahh yes......as loud as it is heavy....... that amp weighs a ton...... remember lugging one around in the early eighties, but for that Johnny Thunders/ Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) sound it's THE amp with a L.P. or L.P.jr 👍😎
An attenuator wouldn't make much difference tbh. These are designed to stay clean all the way to the bitter end. If you use high gain preamp tubes like JJecc83s it will crunch nicely but you won't get any power amp distortion unless you use a pedal.
@@cgavin1 The attenuator allows you to crank it up and kills the volume at the speaker. So you do get power amp distortion that way. The pedal overloads the front of your amp so it gives you preamp distortion, no effect on power amps. I use a Rivera Rock crusher with a cranked Marshall JTM45... I get plenty of nice power amp distortion. The twin is about 3db louder if my math is right which is plenty but the Rock Crusher could handle it I believe.

Just the right amount of overkill.
I generally play my amps cranked, and then turn the guitar volume down. That's where the tone is. My neighbors love tone. 😁

how good do these old fenders sound with an attenuator
Depends on the amp, my 65 bassman sounds shitty through an attenuator, my 75 twin sounds ok since its brighter and has a master volume.
