Learning incubus riffs is how I learned to play guitar. They're some of the most unique and well written in all of rock music, without being super flashy and technical - great writing from einziger.
Sorry but a lot of times his riffs are super technical and flashy at times. I’m guessing you aren’t a guitarist. That breakdown from Pistola is very Alex Lifeson from Rush.
@@kingsecho3351 i said in the original comment "i learned to play guitar..." so, no dude, i am a guitarist. and einziger is very good, he's one of my favorites ever, but he's not a shredder or virtuoso. His stuff is awesomely written and does require some dexterity once in a while, but mostly it's not that technical. I could play most incubus songs within the first year of picking up the guitar. A solo like on priceless or sick sad little world obviously needs some accuracy and speed so yea to pull those off you gotta be able to actually play, but that is the minority of incubus' catalog
My opinion, this guy is one of the best songwriters and creative guitarists to come through the industry in the last 20 years. He's so quite and humble that you wouldn't know it.
I just wanted to send out a thanks to everyone who is making these videos happen. It's very rare to see a band do this kind of thing. This is fucking awesome.
Totally awesome. Thanks Mike for inspiring so many of us with such amazing talent, enthusiasm, and willingness to share. I absolutely love what you're doing. Thank you!
Mike, you are sending me off into the sunset , everytime i see you play... its beautiful... thanks for playing songs im sick of watching incubus covers that are so wrong , and (its hard to figure it out just by ear which i perfer to do) so thanks for breaking songs down, your the only person who can do it perfect yay to mike !
I feel blessed seeing these guys, I caught not 1 but 2 of Mikey's signature picks, thanks for that, Pistola is one of the best songs ever fckn created, Mike's genius guitar riffs are so unique and the rest of the band compliments eachother so fckn well godamn they are on fire. that riff with the drums Jose is crazy insane, ting, ting ting, ting ting, ting ting ting ting , Pistola. incubus is a hell of a phenomenon. what a ride❤️🔥💯🕉️☮️☯️♾️🤘💀🤘 thank you INCUBUS.
He needs his knobs up high and the switches down low. That would be awesome. Like a DJ table for the pedals and foot switches on the ground to turn them on and off.
Ya know what tutorial you need? Dirk teachin' somethin' heavy like,... uhhh,... Certain Shade of Green or Sink Beneath the Line. The verse part to Green has been giving me trouble and the solo for Sink I also can't get. Ben is a great bassist, I just prefer Dirk. Also, Mike, you're great! Keep being awesome!
i wish he would go down as an important musician so much but people don't appreciate today's legends anymore!! they all rave about the shit 'artists' that lack any talent :/
This guy is insane!! i wouldn't call this a tutorial tho lol, u would have to be epic to be able to play pistola from that video! more of just a fascinating insight of how the songs put together!

Same here, Mike is responsible for how my style developed and how I get around the fretboard.
100%

The king of riff maker!!
genius guitarist and sadly underrated

This song is much crazier than first imagined.
I've watched a few of these videos, I've got to say it's awesome that he teaches his riffs. You don't see this often.
I love how he just drops a Slayer "seasons of the abyss" reference.
Riffmaster Mike !
Totally awesome. Thanks Mike for inspiring so many of us with such amazing talent, enthusiasm, and willingness to share. I absolutely love what you're doing. Thank you!
That solo gives me chills. Thanks for sharing this tutorial!
my fav band, the best guitar player!
Definitely my favorite guitarist of all time, you are a daily inspiration to me Mike.
Mike is a genius, one of the best of all time.
That little bridge thing right before the solo is the most Mike Einziger thing ever
Um no it’s very Alex Lifeson from Rush. He straight took that. All of us guitar players do but that is not original sorry.
"I didn't know what the hell I was doing" Fucking Einziger is awesome.
The breakdown is soo Police lol fuckin love it
Genius... I have more appreciation to the music now... Thanks for taking the time to share that...
I love these tutorials. Upload more, please!
one of the most UNDERRATED guitarists going round
Mike, you are sending me off into the sunset , everytime i see you play... its beautiful... thanks for playing songs im sick of watching incubus covers that are so wrong , and (its hard to figure it out just by ear which i perfer to do) so thanks for breaking songs down, your the only person who can do it perfect yay to mike !

one of their best works....truly crafty
The Jam before the solo in this song is one of my favorite moments of incubus’ music. Probably went downhill from there and never reached that level
I've always wanted to see that pedal in action thanks Mike!!!
Whatever he plays, however he plays it, it's always awesome!
I will love to have this videos into a new DVD. Mike you rock my music life!!
Love that album and that song
I love this guy so much...
I'm smiling so hard right now. haha I am speechless! Mike is amazing!
Wow! I love this song to death! It just rips! Now seeing and understanding the intricacy of all the guitar riffs in it, I have even more respect!
Love these videos. Helps me out a lot
cool mikee keep on doing videoos plzz!!! Greetings from chilee we see you guys soon!
Necesito más clases de estas 😮
Mikey... me likely! On the tip of my tongue...! So sick.
Love you, Mikey!!!
DUDE!!! I love this so much!
what a lovable guy..
Soooooooo underrated
This is awesome!
i could listen to an entire album of just mike playing the guitar
'you can recognize that chord from Seasons in the Abyss". This dude KNOWS HIS CHORDS
awesome!
This guy is a genius.
Yeah!! Nice tutorial!!
jeez, I fuckin love this dude!
Mike is amazing, so creative! I don't like his tone at all but works for them so well!
@EmilioMendez The blue one with the yellow dials I believe is a gonkulator.
This man and Tom Morello are the most innovative rock guitarists of the past 30 years.
Mike is my guitar hero :]
He needs his knobs up high and the switches down low. That would be awesome. Like a DJ table for the pedals and foot switches on the ground to turn them on and off.
Pantomime next?? i'd love to see you do that solo :D
genio!!
Ok, I got to 0:34 and had to put the full version on.
Incubus, it's been a looooong time.
@electric417 its crazy how underrated he is, some of the stuff he plays (early stuff) is fairly difficutl.
I swear Mike should get a signature guitar/pedal ANYTHING made haha
I love how it's fairly straightforward until he gets to the solo & crazy effects. Like, here's the part where you just lose your mind lol
5:39 Mike's smile is like "got that?"
I'm baffled here to be honest. This video was posted on incubusTV' channel, which odly enough, has no videos.... Can/will someone please explain!?
Ya know what tutorial you need? Dirk teachin' somethin' heavy like,... uhhh,... Certain Shade of Green or Sink Beneath the Line. fuck. yeah.
what pedal did he used at 5:38 turning off the all the effects?
Chris Aguilar is like a switch changer. In side A he has the modulations, cleans sounds and side B has the the distortion or stomboxes.
Well if Incubus never worked out Mike could easily have a career as a tap dancer with they way he has to manipulate all those stomp boxes.
does anyone know what pedal the navy blue and yellow one is
Emilio Mendez DOD Gonkulator (its a Ring Modulator, which is the very dissonant sounding texture and a distortion).
Solos on that album are so cool and far out and I guess it’s the reel echo helping you get there with the gonk
@damarh nothing wrong with being underrated (i almost prefer it) but why not be recognised and loved. no ?
he has to be baked as fuck writing all these riffs.
What's the name of pedal used in the solo part?
Danelectro Reel Echo
thanks!!
@follertdaniel he knows where they're played but has no idea what they're called lol i love it
My head hurts!!!!!!
@electric417 defs one of the most creative too ey :D
Mike listens to slayer?! Holy crap lol
guitar hero and dance pad
3:02 - what life is all about
i wish he would go down as an important musician so much but people don't appreciate today's legends anymore!! they all rave about the shit 'artists' that lack any talent :/
Danelectro Reel Echo DTE-1
watching this wishing i was a BOSS like Mikey but im still a novice haha
This guy is insane!! i wouldn't call this a tutorial tho lol, u would have to be epic to be able to play pistola from that video! more of just a fascinating insight of how the songs put together!
Hardly. Just learnt it in less than a minute. Duh.
@alexnaff360 why would they get they're old bassist just to teach a tutorial? That doesn't make any damn worth of sense
@electric417 better to be underrated and loved then overrated and hated. no ?
Not enough light on the neck of the guitar. Not enough light...
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ - TRUST JESUS - LIVE FOR JESUS CHRIST and you will have everlasting life !
Just have to save $500 on pedals so I can play this song.
I was hoping for some actual notes...
It's like magic, he's not even sure what he's playing, he just "does"
Lmao he did a terrible recreation of the solo but the rest is killer!
better than Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead
Too bad Mikey can only play those shit ass music man guitars.
