I actually like the use of RVH in these situations where Zadorov scored. if they don't use it, there is always space to bank it in 5-hole, and going short-side below the arm is possible too. with RVH the only way to score is by putting it top corner, which requires a little more precision and means goalies only have one hole to worry about instead of two.
The no call that bugs me the most is the slew foot from Kane. I’ve always hated that play-very dirty, can easily injure, and is called Way too infrequently at all levels. I’m sure there were missed calls both ways and I don’t think the refs gave Edmonton that game, but I still think that is a cowardly play. (By the way, I do think it’s interesting for an officiating crew to miss a high stock occurring between the two team captains right near the puck. Who could be expected to see that?)
The no call that bugs me the most is the trip right after McDavid Scored. I've always hated poor sportsmanship and intent to injure after a goal-very dirty, he could have easily been out of the rest of the playoffs just like they tried on Leon the game before. Refs are way too infrequent in calling those because the team just scored. I am pretty sure there were missed calls both ways but I am just too blinded and my team lost so I need an excuse. No it wasn't that the Oilers out shot my team 15-2 in a tied 3rd period. It was the refs that gave them that game. I still think it's a cowardly play to trip someone into the boards after they score. (By the way, I do think it's interesting for an officiating crew to miss a trip with intent to injure occurring right where a goal was just scored and were everyone was looking. Who could be expected to see that?)
Its easy to injure with that play... and thats the point of it and why Kane did it. He is trying to take out the knee of the high end skating 24 year old norris calibre dman.. which given the way hughes plays would likely prematurely end his career. The fact that it wasn't called, he wasn't' tossed.. and isn't getting a phone call from the league is just further evidence that this league is second rate and absolutely does not give a shit about the players or the sport. Gary Bettman cares about which tv market he can milk or which marketing face he can sell.

The officiating has been HORRIBLE. It's funny because last year, when the Oilers played Vegas, I came away hating the Golden Knights. This year, I have a lot of respect for the Canucks themselves, I just hate the refs. I do really want to know what on earth happened to lead up to that spear from Derek Ryan. He's usually very calm and is one of the last Oilers I'd ever expect to see that from.
Ummm, and just when was officiating ever great? The worst thing that ever happened, was when they added more, and now have damn near a whole line of officials getting in the way. And they claimed that they'd never miss any calls now. How'd that turn out? They miss more than ever, they are always in the way, of the puck and the players, and, they can't even pick up a broken stick, which is then always altering a play. All it was about, was creating more employment for themselves.
We're NOT talking Janmark being boarded or Hyman taking a high stick to the face before McDavid? I mean, if we're going to complain, let's do all of it. McDavid SHOULD have been given a 4 minute major, but there were plenty of other calls that were missed before that happened.
It’s like no one has seen a missed call before. Anyone watching oilers games would see multiple missed infractions against McD nearly every game. That high stick was not malicious or intentional. Derek Ryan pulled a dirty one and should be addressed by the league. BTW, Z’s goal was scored with too many men on the ice. Maybe too inconvenient to mention for some people pushing a narrative I guess.
Not intentional? Watch it again in slo-mo. McDavid can be seen glancing at the approaching Hughes then looks back towards the puck and lifts his stick to his face just as Hughes skates by. That was no accident.
idk if you've tuned into the pwhl playoffs at all, but last night's Boston vs Montreal game went to 3OT and also had some reallyyyy debatable reffing. would love to see your coverage on some of these games, they're getting into some serious hockey
I dunno, if you watch Frame by frame you see Hughes putting himself in that situation, trying to body check Mcdavid while simultaneously going for the puck carrier, trying to do too many things at once. Mcdavid is just avoiding the check and keeps the stick at shoulder height (not high stick), if he puts the stick lower then it’s a hook, interference, or trip on Hughes. The way I see it, Hughes missed the body check, and thereby put his head too low in a high speed situation and cut himself on Mcdavid stick. So yes Hughes did that to himself.
@@Jsmith32tI get what you're saying but it's a bit of a stretch to say that isn't a high stick. He brings it straight up into his face. They're both maybe a bit low but they're both at that height for a reason-they're skating. The ref obviously agrees with you though so what do I know?
@@Jsmith32tThats a high stick 10/10 times. As the player wielding the stick, its your responsibility to keep it under control. The only exception to that rule is follow-through, but obviously thats not the case here.

Absolutely brutal! The one that really sets me off is the after the fact interference call on Hoglander to even up the call after Ryan spears his nuts! Watch the ref: Hoglander checks Ryan, nothing…Ryan spears him, the ref slowly, hesitantly raises his arm. They huddle up and miraculously pull an interference call out of their corrupt behinds. WWE scripted games at this point. Sad.
There were hits from behind, and high sticks on both teams. So much interference on every zone entry. Was annoying to watch then they called random shit calls like nuge "hold" and a weak interference on McDavid
It goes the same way for game one, when the oilers were in the nucks zone the puck went flying and zadorov grab the puck out of the air and threw it away infront of the ref causing them two score the two goals so its even now
People saying that the Canucks got the better end of the shit officiating when zadorovs goal had too many men on and was never called =/ GO OILERS! FUC THE CANUCKS!!!
funny because that is actually not the case, as long as the 6th guy doesnt touch the puck and isn't part of the play......it's no call.... it's literally in the rule book. Plus, when they show the 2nd angle the puck is like 5 feet away from the guy jumping on the bench, not even close.
The refs in playoffs r ridiculous!? They'll not call blatantly obvious penalties that they clearly saw but then they'll go and call the weakest most ticky tack things!!? It's ridiculous!?
The whistles are put away this series more than in others. Be careful what you wish for because if they did call more then the Nucks wouldnt have a chance. There were missed calls both ways. If the league isnt going to call things then why wouldnt the Oilers dirty it up?
Not saying the Lindgren penalty wasn’t a penalty but in a game like that you don’t call ANYTHING all game til the last 3 minutes? That’s dog shit. I watch at least one game a night and they’re awful. The Hughes high stick…. Atrocious miss
The Canucks got 2 shots on net in the 3rd period. No amount of “missed calls” will change that. You Canuck fans need to understand that, A, the refs miss calls. It goes both ways. B, it’s playoff hockey, they let more stuff go to keep the game faster and more intense. Remember when your coach got Bettman to give both teams a warning about embellishment?? (That’s a classic Tochet move btw). Well that means less calls are going to be made. It’s ok, I understand you Canuck fans are inexperienced with the way the game is played in the Playoffs. lol
2 shots on net is ridiculous and the Canucks get the flack they deserve for it. You also need to understand that a 4 minute penalty to McDavid would have been a massive boon for the Canucks, and in a game that went to OT, that non-call made a difference. Obviously I get refs put the whistles away for the playoffs, but whacking the Canucks captain and star defenseman in the face and getting him sent off the ice is a definitive penalty, even in the playoffs. Not like they couldve missed it, happened about 5 feet from the puck.

„As they were outShit“ 😂
@@darpompie4354 A trip really isn’t on the same level as an intentional stick to the face
@@johnnybaxter1953 a trip that close to the boards is definitely worse than a nick to the face. I've seen players end their careers from sliding into the boards awkwardly and unexpectedly just like that.
@@darpompie4354 the footage doesnt show the McD going around 2 Canucks D literally because an Oiler ran into the D and basically caused em to stop so McD could skate around em and get that breakaway...... literally shouldn't have been a goal but an Oilers penalty.... that of course wasn't called... lol.......so yea, that play should have been stopped a center ice with an Oiler penalty and then McD wouldn't have gotten 'tripped'
The entire Oilers gameplan is to interefere (like McD on Z).... which is why their cycle looked like a million bucks because the refs wouldn't call intereference calls on the Oilers when they would pic the Vancouver defenders.
"I think i'll use my credit card" Derek Brown to Hoglander
Derek Ryan ffs
LMFAOOOO💀💀💀
It’s Ryan ffs but either way I can’t believe he’s in the box like, “What I do.” 😂
Why does no one mention the take down on Mcdavid after his goal. Dangerous play and is a possible career ender.
Yes it was a trip, but you don't call those if the player scores.
Happend after the play. That gets called.
Derek Ryan.
There needs to be an investigation by an independent arbiter NOT the NHL.
-these stupid refs dont know a thing-
Cheap shots create more cheap shots . Kids learn to be cheap shots from this. Ban it.
I’m glad you left in “outshit” 😂😂
Be funny as if any other player did that to McDavid they would call it for 4 minutes immediately
Funny that Zadorov almost put Draisaitl out with a dirty cross check and didn't even get 2 minutes. So, the evidence says you're wrong. Congratulations.
@@LARGO125 what about nurse boarding on petterson behind the net aswell?
‘Almost’ and a completed different person, okay bud lmao

0:32 mmh yes, my favourite hockey player: Derek Brown
I like how myers pirouettes out of the mcdavid play so he can avoid being in that highlight for the rest of his life
If the refs did there jobs then players wouldn’t be so aggressive….its simple
The officiating has been HORRIBLE. It's funny because last year, when the Oilers played Vegas, I came away hating the Golden Knights. This year, I have a lot of respect for the Canucks themselves, I just hate the refs. I do really want to know what on earth happened to lead up to that spear from Derek Ryan. He's usually very calm and is one of the last Oilers I'd ever expect to see that from.
For those wondering, Derek Brown is the love child of Derek Ryan and Connor Brown (0:35)
that cheapshot on höglander was actually sad no man does that to another man.
It's the playoffs. He's wearing a jock he'll be ok
That was just embarrassing for the league. The NHL needs to clean up this mess.
Even as an oilers fan im mad about that highsticking missed call
That missed high stick was egregious. I get "Let 'em play!" but oooooof....
One thing that’s become clear is that most Canucks fans have no idea how the rules work.
It’s an easy fix. If it’s a penalty in October, it’s a penalty in April/May/June. If the refs don’t want to call the penalties, don’t give them a job
Fun fact! The canucks have never won a game that kelly sutherland has reffed! With that being said there was 3 majors the oilers commited this game that never got called and possibly two of them could have been game misconducts. Along with about 12 other missed holding, crosschecking and hooking penatlies. And im from edmonton lol. All this says to me. The league wants this to go to 7 games.
$$$$
This has been happening all season long. It's just highlighted in the playoffs. The Wings got screwed quite a few times this year.
Game 2 was like a lawless old West shootout
That Zadorov goal I saw the hit maker when he shot that
If the refs called every infraction on both sides theydstill be playing game2
Too many Missed calls both ways
Brutal refs
Its fixed. Bet365, Bet99 and in on it. Plus McDavid protected just like Gretzky was.
Officiating in this league is always either good, or REALLY bad.
Edmonton was given this game. NHL is not a real league.
Those are dirty plays. McDavid is reckless and that's no excuse.
Sad.
No call because the NHL brass think they need McDavid to win
If you look closely at the Florida boston series Florida has been getting the softest power plays ever while boston needs to get shot to get a call.
I feel like buying Tylenol.
McJesus is not capable of sin.
With the NHL and other major sports in a soixante neuf with sanctioned gambling you can expect things to only get more worser.
There were hits from behind, and high sticks on both teams. So much interference on every zone entry. Was annoying to watch then they called random shit calls like nuge "hold" and a weak interference on McDavid
Still don’t think either team is playing that great, it’ll be interesting to see which team steps it up first
It goes the same way for game one, when the oilers were in the nucks zone the puck went flying and zadorov grab the puck out of the air and threw it away infront of the ref causing them two score the two goals so its even now
Thank you for addressing this.
@@robsmith2566 learn hockey rob
Heck honestly as an unbiased oilers fan that is bs however they did miss some things on the oilers as well so they’re just straight up bad
Yeah, check out how badly the Bruins are getting screwed in their series.
Sutherland getting another game in the playoffs will be embarrassing for the league.
Plus, when they show the 2nd angle the puck is like 5 feet away from the guy jumping on the bench, not even close.
this is why nobody likes fucking oilers fans. Absolutely rediculous lmao, all this just to get your ass beaten in 2nd round
The refs in playoffs r ridiculous!? They'll not call blatantly obvious penalties that they clearly saw but then they'll go and call the weakest most ticky tack things!!? It's ridiculous!?
Penalties missed both ways, but not seeing as many cheep shots let alone ones that could cause injuries,.. and that’s the problem.
Did Kelly Sutherland not learn anything from Chris Lee?
The whistles are put away this series more than in others. Be careful what you wish for because if they did call more then the Nucks wouldnt have a chance. There were missed calls both ways. If the league isnt going to call things then why wouldnt the Oilers dirty it up?
I prefer "out-shit" lol
Who tf is Derek Brown, Eck? That's Derek Ryan.
McDavid and McBlood don't mix.
I guess.
Not saying the Lindgren penalty wasn’t a penalty but in a game like that you don’t call ANYTHING all game til the last 3 minutes? That’s dog shit. These refs should have to answer to the media and the NHLPA should have representatives there to speak to them after too because they’ve been horrible on both sides for EVERY series. I watch at least one game a night and they’re awful. The Hughes high stick…. Atrocious miss
"hilarious shot of derek brown" its derek ryan, just a heads up lol
Holy f**k, that was hilarious! Talking about fans and playoff experience? Do you recall the Coilers missing the playoffs for 10 straight years from 06 to 2016? Do you recall them making it once between 06 and 2019? If you are trying to brag about the Coilers from 30 years ago, sit your old ass down.
@@carletonrutherford1799 buddy, I also was a fan then and remember the 5 cup wins too. I understand how it works.

The calls were not going either way. Zadorovs goal should not have counted bc of too many men.
kane's slewfoot on quinn was fucking dirty, how tf was this not called??
They don’t give mcdavid penalties
It’s tough to score when you let the other team spend the entire third period in your zone, Oilers were relentless in the third Nucks could not clear the zone
shhhhhhhh!!! or a nucks fan will tell you it was because the refs were physically assisting the Oil at the blue line. Remember if the nucks win, its cause they're great, if they lose, its cause the refs cheated them.
Derek Brown is my favourite player on the Oilers
My favourite player on the Canucks is Zadorov. How is McDavid's back feeling? Or his face? Thanks Soucy. ROFLMAO!
Shoersy is a better ref than Kelly Sutherland
I always try to out shit myself
Oh? NHL refs missing calls? Wow. How shocking.... 😴
Oilers fan. Garbage refs so far in the series. This is bush league officiating.
Wow. While watching the game, I don't remember it looking this bad. But that was brutal. They need to do a lot better for sure. I've heard that during the playoffs, the refs let a lot more slide, but Jesus, there's got to be some officiating during these games. C'mon. Having said all of that, GO OILERS GO!!!
