    I don’t know if you see comments on old videos, but I really appreciate all your videos. I don’t spend enough time in RMNP and your videos inspire me! Thanks for publishing these!

    Please consider showing us the hike to Spectacle Lakes in RMNP. We have tried it twice & never found them. Last time we came to a large solid & steep rock in our path. We were unable to find a way over it or around. Dannon’s hiking guide book did not help us. Love to see the way to them & what they look like.

    I did the sky pond hike a few years ago one of my fav hikes ever via glacier gorge trailhead ...Alberta falls was really nice and climbing beside that waterfall to get to sky pond was pretty rad as well as seeing climbers on the sharks tooth

    Just a tip, buy some ribbon tape for those times things get confusing and just tie some off on tree branches. Makes it easy to find your way back. Just make sure to collect them on your way back. 👍

    The scenery is spectacular! The lakes so beautiful and serene. Your mom is an amazing hiking companion.

      Every inch of Rocky Mountain National Park is utterly spectacular. Glad you are not tired of me doing hikes in there! I agree my mom is a good hiker. She has her moments when i have to motivate her.. but she has no fear. She will go over anything!

    Okay, I'll be honest. I had a supremely rough day. All day, just rough. I got home, heated soup in a mug and was already hoping you had uploaded a new video today. You didn't disappoint and I'm so glad because I needed one of your hikes to relax with, no lie. Beautiful scenery, amazing trek, and many, many thanks for the laugh at the 20:12 pop quiz wrong answer of "Is it...Longs Peak?" in that voice you made (which I had to go back and hear it a couple more times because it's just so amusing lol). Thank you for this calming end to my day, Nick, I mean that. I'd hang out more but I need to scrounge up a piece of pumpkin roll for dessert so..."Peace!"

      I went crazy this last summer. I literally hiked every day I could because I will probably never get the opportunity again. I did 50 hikes. Glad my job let me come back in October!

    We did this hike yesterday. 9/ 24/2021 It was amazing. My favorite hike this year. This was our 10th hike in RMNP since July 27. I thought it was beautiful going up 1100 ft in the 7/10 of a mile. The hike was steep but not difficult for me. Took lots of breather breaks. Shelf and Solitude Lakes are so beautiful. The views from the top were breathtaking. It was a perfect day. Wish I could attach photos. We study your videos to have a good idea of what to expect. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your adventures!

    My husband and I did a hike up to Tourmaline Lake on 10-5-21. Met a young couple at Odessa. They were on their honeymoon and spending it hiking throughout RMNP. They asked us for advice on where to go next. I told them of Shelf and Solitude Lakes. I recommended your hiking video. She typed it in her phone. I often mention you and your wonderful hiking videos to others. I have even attached your videos to a RMNP group on FB. When I post in that group, I get a lot of questions and your videos are a great way for people to see what the experience will be like. The young couple even bushwhacked their way to Tourmaline Lake with us. Kind of a warm up for Shelf and Solitude Lakes.

      *just added Tourmaline Lake to the list. Thanks for recommending the vids! That is awesome. I like showing people what it is like either to help them if they are going to attempt the hike or for the people who can never get to those spots.

      @@nicksangetta8874, It was definitely a bushwack but doable. A small social trail starts on the right side of the inlet stream on the west side of Odessa. We hiked down to Tourmaline and followed the outlet stream back and picked up the social trail. Wish I could post photos for you.

    I did this hike once. Pretty incredible. From Solitude I went to the north over Thatchtop and found the gully. I did some bushwacking and found the Loch Trail and headed back to the Glacier Gorge trail head. A pretty tiring hike!

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  4 роки тому +1

      Nice! I love the summit of Thatchtop. Ive always been too afraid to try that northern descent back to the loch. Afraid ill miss that S-gully and get cliffed out!

    • @Respman
      @Respman 4 роки тому +1

      And that S -gully has lots of loose gravel as well. Pretty hazardous.

  • @rippen1982
    @rippen1982 4 роки тому

    Man this is awesome! High on the list for next year! Is this the approach for thatchtop too?
    That climb reminded me so much of the climb up to Spectacle lakes minus the slab. Awesome vid brother!

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  4 роки тому +1

      Eeesh.. that slab on Spectacle. My nemesis! But yes, that is exactly how you get up to Thatchtop. Its the rock scramble just to the north of Solitude. Its an awesome summit! There is also a way down the north side of Thatchtop called the S-Gully. But if you miss it.. that could be a bad time.

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  4 роки тому

      No. I kept getting mold for sone reason. So after trying everything short of banging my head on the wall I gave up. Its really tedious and takes a lot of time and finess.

      @@Aidenf. Oh yeah. I was even talking with Larry personally. It was maddenning! I would get them going perfectly and then across the board I would get mold on all the different types overnight. I wastes so much time and effort after a while I just had to give it up.
