    this unit would easily fill the bill for what I've been looking for which is a smaller less expensive version of my Axe-Fx III and FC-12.. it seems to sit somewhere between the FM3 and the FM9 at a much lower price.. I love FAS products.. they're amazing and get better and better with every FW update.. you can call it G.A.S. but I'm ready to get this baby.. and now HOTONE has added Tone Catch? that's a dealmaker.. I've got a great old Mesa Boogie Mark II-B that would be great to tone catch.. and I have a bunch of drive pedals I'd love to tone catch too.. • @JonDeth
    @JonDeth 20 днів тому +1

    It's interesting for me more as an electronics engineer than as a guitarist. I'm hearing about this technology so often I am confident I can invent my own but I would also do so where it's a digital brain and analog guts so the actual tone clone is performed by 100% analog architecture.
    *Digital is just so damn good right now that I notice my Valeton GP200, which is an intermediate grade modeler, does achieve accurate tube fizz and zing with some of it's modeling though not all, and with it ultra high gain, it shifts from "wow it sounds identical to a high gain valve!" back into "wow, that's so obviously digital."*
    My point is, it *sounds* great that it could be produced to perform cloning in a purely analog architecture but digital is finally making huge leaps every year and it is likely to be a wasted effort until one consideration, *pricing.*
    It's still realistic to suggest I could produce what I described and it sell for around 150 to 300 USD vs $800 or whatever the best lowest priced one currently is. Anyway, my focus has shifted to 6J2 tubes. It doesn't matter if you achieve semiconductor texture Identical to valve clipping aggressively, people just want to see tubes and lots of them. *It's a realistic pathway to have a half dozen and the gear sell for a couple hundred dollars.*

  • @PatternRecognitionMusic

    It's hardly cheap, but for what it does, I'd say it's very reasonable. It sounds really good!

    • @donniejean
      @donniejean 6 днів тому

      @@PatternRecognitionMusic what is considered cheap? How much do you pay for something you love to do? And if you don’t love it, why do you expect smaller companies to go broke because you wanted features that everyone else could afford because that is their passion and what they saved up for?
      I’m not trying to be a jerk, I’m trying to ask a legitimate question but struggling to get it out properly if that makes sense?
      It’s a big matter of tiers as well. Do you get paid for your performances? If not, maybe you should look into a cheaper model. But you want all the features? Well you have to justify the costs that these units need to survive and incorporate new releases and technologies. And if you think that price is too high, there are still cheaper ways to achieve similar results at lower price points. It may not look the best, it may not have the best interface, I could go on and on. But if you aren’t doing this to make a living, you really have no business deciding what price points and research go into the development of these units. Sorry I’m not picking on you, it’s more of a He has ice cream, I deserve some too”. By many musicians out there.

      Yeah I’m starting to learn you can only trust a select few out there, Leon being one of them. I’ve bought so much gear because of some of these people finally to see the light that I’m just being sold. I’m not a great player (like at all) but I have tons of gear that older, people (I’m 44 but have been a beginner for 20 years lol) I feel like need to see what someone looks like me as a beginner showing off the same high dollar amps and such.
      I always had to have the next best thing that “chugs” or whatever. Well I got it all, and left me broke. So my goal is to show people
      Like me or beginners that practice is more important than what you play! People like Leon could make a Roland Cube sound amazing! So yes, be careful whose opinion you trust…

    i melted my brain finishing a video yesterday comparing captures from tonex/nano cortex/nam, the differences if any will hardly be noticed in a mix, and they'll be down more to the point of capture/gain staging rather than anything else, i think with comparing something like the hotone tone catch, it'll be more a case of can a more affordable option hang with the big bois as it were, by the sounds here it sounds like it, would be great to test

    Everything is a Kemper killer but man….as much as people don’t like what Kemper is doing the tones are too good.
    I’ve seen a bunch of bands with QCs that sounded good. Saw Powerwolf recently and it was the best guitar tone live I’ve heard in awhile. And they are rocking the Kempers.
    Fractal and Kemper are still the best for me. Haken switched from Fractal to NDSP and I thought the tones weren’t as good at all.

    This is really smart. Ok, so you're not up there with the "big boys" like Fractal and Line 6. So you add cool and useful features and you do them well enough to sound good and be easily implemented. Of course, the key factor is "sound good", and I really think it does.

      Yeah they’ve really stepped up their game. I love the delays too

    Thumbs up but why does the latest X unit have to be killing something. What’s really the “ KILLING” feature of the latest given X unit?🤔

    It's close... The first capture was more scooped but definitely in the ball park. I would be completely happy with that.

    At this point it’s going to be embarrassing if a new Helix ever comes out and doesn’t have a capture function.

    See this is why I'm Fractal for life. Tone catches are so static. No dynamics at all. Cliff takes the time to mathematically break down every amp & effect to the component level, analyses how every little bit affects the signal, then pushes the signal through cabs (filters) that are absurdly detailed and accurate. This is just an expensive parrot. From a dynamics standpoint all these capture type devices can do is get louder or softer.

      What are you talking about, a capture preserves the same dynamics of the target device.

    can you run the ampero II with the pedal side by side using loops? no pedal in the stage . . for me it's just sad all they really want to cater to is the overprocessed death metal dgent type stuff anymore... can't kill rock n roll so why not cater to that genre as well.. even guitars it seems are all geared to that death metal fuggen iron ore genre . . I know NO ONE that plays that stuff? is that the new push by the elites? first dumb em way down with cRap then pacify them with dgent style garb? I have to go where the creativity is, melodys so forth, lyrics and good vocals, who the fugg can even understand WTF those RAGHGG RAHGGH GRAHHGG doods are even saying? C'MON MAN! to each their own I get it but do they have to gear everything towards that stuff? the big push, I tend to stray from big pushes they all seem to have an agenda behind them?

      Bear in mind, they do firmware updates more frequently (I have the Stage). They pay attention to user feedback in the forums and group pages. I'm certain fixes are coming to fine tune it.

      With or without the fine tune?
      Can it run a delay, pitch and phaser or flanger in front of the amp block with the tone catch?
