Paraffin wax is better than sand to store heat .Coil up exhaust into a 5 gallon drum with a snap on lid then pour liquid paraffin wax into the drum .The paraffin wax takes in heat to turn it liquid and releases the heat as it turns solid .The process is called phase change .
I’m very happy with my heater. I installed it a week ago to heat my house. While temps have been fluctuating around 2°C, and I’ve the heater on its lowest setting, I’m burning 4 litres daily to keep my 1,400 square foot home at around 18°C. The next few days’ll be a fair test as overnight lows will be around -10°C. I’ll just be keeping it on low to see how warm my house will be. I’ll have a radiant heater on low in my room(700 watts), as it’s a long way from the diesel heater. I’ll be keeping the heater on low as a test. With current diesel price at $1.5CAD, I’m trying to see if I can heat my house for $6/day.

Great idea, taller bottle would work better, so heat can gather in top of bottle and exhaust gases can flow out the bottom..
