    So this is what Interstate 15 looked like before the Cazadors and Deathclaws took over...

    When I went to work for the NV Hwy Dept in Nov 1961, the 1st project I worked on was I-15, from Sloan to South Strip Interchange. That was when this section of I-15 was originally built. Things sure have changed since then!

    I like that you showed many of the highway signs so that they are easy to make out. Many travel videos fail to do this-

    This video makes me feel so old. I watched that Cactus Ave. exit be built at Recess at John Bass elementary. I was in 5th grade

    Just a note to update the excellent video. As of April 2018, the Spaghetti Bowl junction area on both the I-15 and the US 95 freeway (the 95 freeway intersects I-15 at the Spaghetti Bowl junction) is going through fairly major construction. Also, there is a new interstate freeway being constructed called I-11 that will travel between Las Vegas and Phoenix, Arizona. Right now US 93 highway connects the cities and I'm not sure if the new interstate will replace that or be in addition to it. Also, the 215 freeway which the video mentioned taking you to the airport is a nice alternate if you trying to go north past Las Vegas. It avoids the Spaghetti Bowl junction and taking it West from the I-15 will take you into Southwest Las Vegas, a growing part of the urban area and then curves North and runs along the base of the Spring Mountains where it goes through Summerlin (the nicest looking part of the city) and continues North to the Centennial Hills neighborhood at the Northwest corner of the metro area (like the Southwest area, rapidly growing) and then heads east back to the I-15 at the North end of the city. I recommend this route, especially on Weekdays while there is construction in the Spaghetti junction area. However, this route does bypass the Strip and Downtown so you will miss seeing those areas. Also, if you would rather take the streets, the streets in the western part of the city such as Decatur, Jones, Rainbow, Buffalo, Durango, and especially Fort Apache/Rampart are much more visually pleasing than the streets in the eastern part of the city (aside from the Strip area, of course).

    Nice work! While you are in this area, I have a few suggestions:
    1. Start from The Strip and drive South until it ends 40 miles later (South Of Jean).
    2. Start from The Strip and drive North until it ends 33 miles later (in the middle of nowhere).
    I'd think that lots of people would really enjoy seeing what would happen if you started on The Strip and drove until it ended in both directions as the original Highway 91 running from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City.
    If you want to take it one step further, 91 restarts in Mesquite, NV as Mesquite Blvd. and Hillside Drive. You can film the "old road" all the way to St. George, UT.
    This is an easy day trip as the return from St. George is only 120 miles back to Las Vegas.
    Another very scenic trip that keeps you in the Las Vegas area is the Red Rock Canyon loop. (Hint: Do this on a sunny morning for spectacular lighting). Take The Strip north to Charleston. Head west 15 miles and as you get out of town, it gets very scenic. Film the Red Rock Canyon loop, then exit and continue west/south on Blue Diamond Road all the way until you loop back into Las Vegas. Very few people know how stunning it is just outside of our town.

      Ted Newkirk Thank you for those suggestions! Next time in Vegas, which I'm sure isn't too far off, I will definitely be filming around Red Rock, as well as videos on the Strip! :)

    That used to be almost my exact drive to work. I got on I-15 at Blue Diamond and got off on Craig Road. If I left my apt between 7:00-7-10A.M. it would take about 20 minutes. if I left at 7:11 or later, it would take 45 minutes. I loved seeing this.

      Agreed; I've been there twice (flew by plane both trips). For that reason, I always entered via either Lyft or hired *limo* (in OR out was typically via I-215 west, since I always stayed at NewYorkNewYork).

    No where else does a highway PERMANENTLY use those sticker makers for lanes. This usually only happenstance to newly-repaved roads, but soon painted over. Here, just wow. Great vid! Can't wait for your return to Wyoming. I'll stop beinga bother about I-180, but I would love to see Casper featured here. Or Gilette. Just do what you can!

    • @PGHammer21A
      @PGHammer21A 4 роки тому

      Interstate 11 is itself mostly a rebuild of Interstate 515 in greater Las Vegas; east of Interstate 15, it will REPLACE I-515. What is left is where Interstate 11 will go both west of Interstate 15 and in Arizona (where Interstate 11 currently ends).

    Really nice person respected. But Vegas good to visit not to live. Over rated not enough job opportunity especially during off tourists season. A lot of bad habits that easy accessible not enough of professional work balance. I prefer larger cities like Ny or California where the ups and downs of economic are not hit hard as historically shows can happen soon. Larger cities Handel economic well. My opinion! # Vegas good to visit short time not to live not a place bigger cities have more opportunity!!!
