Hey Robert, Flying guillotine 2 is a mess, but it's enjoyable enough, just don't get too upset about the plot, or lack of it. The last scene is pretty good.
Shaolin plot is a superb Golden harvest film, I think it's the same print Eureka used as the extras are the same. I really enjoyed it, I didn't know much about it before picking it up.
Chinese boxer I think is Jimmy Wang Yu's best film, it's release upset Chang Cheh because it out did all his movies. It's been cited as the first real fist and feet film and the 88 films version is pure quality. Jimmy may not have been the best martial artist but you can't deny the impact this film had.

Whoever said Chang Cheh was upset over the box office or CB is taking creative license. Chang gave Jimmy pointers and encouragement: DRAGON IN. from 1967 made more money in HI than ONE ARM SWORD did and Chang had no animosity towards King Hu. Chang Cheh did allude to being disappointed in Wang Yu several years later in an essay he wrote about out of control film actors. The two did meet up during the presser Chang did for NEW ONE ARM over dinner about possibly working together again. And later when Jimmy soured on Golden Harvest in 1975, he stated in interview he wanted to work for Chang again, which they did, but not till 1983.

@@venoms5 I am not sure where I heard /read /saw that Cheh said that, but I take your comments and knowledge on board.
Brian, have you ever seen The Boxers? It was a Shaw brothers film from 73 directed by Hou Cheng? I can't find anything out about it apart from a few posters.

Sorry for the late reply. I can’t recall if THE BOXERS was even on the ZiiEagle box. But I’ve not seen it. I’ve got some small B/W stills of it and an article or two in an old magazine. It was one of their “B line” releases where the intent was to fulfill the need to keep a steady flow of entertainment to audiences. Chin Han did a few others like this around this time although none made much money. These kinds of productions were promoted but to a lesser degree compared with the more prestigious pictures.

@@venoms5 thank you for replying. I am at the tail end of trying to pick up every Shaw kung fu /wuxia film and it was one I heard about and can't find. If you look online there are posters but not much else. I think I am around 10 films shy of a completish collection.

Thanks for watching - I’m a fan of The Crow movie and used to have the comic books and art sketches - have to wait and see what reviews say on that transfer - last time I watched it the movie was pretty dated tho 🤣
