@@Idky813 well that would be up to the person eating it. I would assume the Chinese prefer their pao cai to Kimchi. This recipe isn't traditional Kimchi but rather Pao Cai as developed in Sichuan China. Granted they are very similar but not the same.

Very good video, thanks. It's nice you show that making kimchi is not that difficult and you don't need special ingredients. No need for fancy korean pear, put a crispy apple. Don't have gochugaru - put whatever chilies you have, possibilities are endless

@@TheVasendak you will find whilst very similar one is salted the other is pickled in a brine. There are also differences in what is added between the traditional recipes. One originates from Schihuan and the other from South Korea. I also believe the container in which they are originally fermented in is different, the Chinese version uses the urn depicted in this video Kimchi traditionally uses a different one. So no not Kimchi but pao cai. Thanks.
@@miss_mish Thank you for the detailed explanaition but I cannot agree. This is the same type of cabbage, same technique of cutting it, salting it, making a paste and covering the cabbage with it and definately not brine in both recipes. And if I put it in plastic container can I claim I came up with new recipe coming from Bulgaria. It is definately not sauerkraut although it uses the same principle of lactic acid fermentation. Not sure who was first with this but kimchi is definately better known in the world than pao cai. My point is you can make the same thing with what is available in your country and not make a big fuss about exact recipe and names.

Similar to kimchi, which is Korean. A lot of Asian countries have their own versions of it. This is likely pao cai or as they're working to rename this spicy one xinqi.
