Thank You for your service Dave! Thanks for sharing your photos from the carrier. As always I learn something from your videos- like how the Safe system was hampering the flight of the new plane. Cool mods on the new plane.
hey bro. dave. we made a new year once again. the wheel idea is a great idea. i put on on the underside of my cessna 310 just to be safe. this has always been my favorite plane since i was a kid. (sky king). i know there are others that are better. to all your followers have a safe new year.
Thanks Dave for all you do! And thanks for your service 👍🏻! The Pictures are awesome the F4 is one of my favorite planes and thanks for the tip with the wheel! Awesome
1st thoughts awesome fix! As for The Phantom, well as I've said before she was is, and always will be the best looking gal at the dance. Thanks for sharing the goodness Mr. Dave! Thumbs-up video Brother ~John
I recommend reinforcing the motor mount there is only about 1\2 of an inch holding plastic mount to foam great idea on wheel I have two of them going to try that out Take Care Happy New Years
@@NightFlyyer well you know how long they take to land it just hit the at the right place and time and when i looked only about half an inch was glued into plastic mount wasnt even a hard hit
Ingenious. I fly mine in a large savannah/field. Beautiful plane. Went into a death spin once and crashed.. Minor damage. You're right this bird needs a lot of space (especially the approach to land cause she comes in hot) cause she ain't no park flyer.
Hi Dave, Nice improvements. Shame the weather prevented testing the wheel. Happy New Year to you and Ilea and thanks for your service. Both of you stay safe.
Well, its always like this here, this time of year and I'm not worried about testing it, as in other planes I have done this to, they all worked. We appreciate your comments, and Happy New year to you as well. Stay safe.
Thank you for your service, Sir! Army here! Would love to hear more stories!!! Veitnam Vets are some of the most unappreciated there are out there to this day Still!🤷🏻♂️ But you all still did your job!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 My grandfather had over 1000 hours in a Corsair in WWll, his fault that I am completely obsessed with anything with wings!!🤣🤣🤣👌🏻👌🏻

@@sacrificialrubber779 I flew in San Juan Capistrano for years on the Ortega and La Pata road with our club, till they built a school there. Before that, at Robinson Ranch, and before that at the Ziggeraut parking lot in the earyl 70's. Not familiar with any other fields. What city next to the 5?
By Request, here I show how I made a simple Belly Pan Protector with a 1 inch wheel. Here is exactly what the Opterra 2M manual says word for word. 1. Put the aircraft into launch mode with the channel 5 switch. (in my first video that did not work, it went into the ground) 2. Hold the aircraft in one hand and the transmitter in the other. 3. Apply full throttle and throw the aircraft directly into the wind, angled slightly up (5 to 10 degrees above the horizon). 4. Climb to a safe altitude and check the trim. I know others have their own ways, and either way, my Dolly is the safest. The Opterra 2M manual says nothing about throwing it with the motor off. I also discuss how the SAFE system works compared to a real Phantom Jet and the drawbacks to why I don't need it turned on when Launching by hand or especially my launcher. This is an easy plane to fly, so I just will continue to leave it off and just have fun. Stay safe, Happy New year, and God Bless. ~Dave Here is the Build and Maiden Flight Video link. ua-cam.com/video/P_inF5EYLEE/v-deo.html
Yes for sure. They worked the same and for a whole lot less money and no moving parts. If we only had that back then, it would have been great. Thanks kindly and Happy New year.
Still snowing...😂 Loved the F-4 pics and technical specs as always. I would love to have taken a flight in one like you got to do! What great experiences those must have been. Also, great mod on the Opterra. You should be a product consultant/developer for Horizon! Happy New Year and Semper Fi.
Ha ha. Yes, I sure miss those big old Beasts. Smokey, loud, and fast, but beautiful to see. Thanks for the kudos, Scott. Happy New year and Semper Fi to you as well.
Well, they already have wing tip skids built in and don't really touch till you stop, especially if you land level. I could beef them up with metal rods too, but so far, so good. It's the belly pan that takes the most abuse, hence the wheelie. Thanks and happy new year.
Nice job on the wheel mod Dave do you still fly at the club you joined? The reason I asked remember in one of your videos you said you hardly go to that airport anymore because of the full scale planes not radio in there landings.
Well, I just joined that club in Oct, and now it is snowed in and no way to get to it. I intend to keep flying at the airport as well, especially now. Since it is not a controlled airport, not everyone uses the radio, which is rude, but happens. Most there know me, so its not really so bad, but still they have priority. I can take off and in one minute would have to land sometimes, cause someone flies in right after that. That is a bummer, when trying to make a video. Thanks for the kudos and happy new year.
Do you have an email address that people can send questions to? I recently got a vintage nitro helicopter and I have a few questions about where to find some parts.
If you publish your email, I can contact you, but I do not have a public email. Or drop me your email address at PO Box 153, Sibley, IA 51249 and I will get back to you that way. Hope you understand and will try to help you.
If you would like me to print some V.G’s for you and send them let me know. I would be very curious to see if they have any noticeable effect on your wing!🤔🤔🤔👍🏻
Well the entire wings leading edge is covered with vortex generators already, and I appreciate the offer. You can see them in my original video here. ua-cam.com/video/P_inF5EYLEE/v-deo.html
Hi Dave ive got a cheap & free way to make skids. Get plastic pallet strap from any box store and the use contact cement (or glue of choice), they have the heavy duty ones at my job if ya need a little coil let me knw I'll put in envelope to you
That sounds like a plan, but they would have to stick down pretty far, as the 10 prop would hit the ground on take off. Not sure how it would work on the cement airport runway either. I'll chew on that idea a while, but right now, it's hello dolly! Thanks.
@@donm8856 Actually I've had but lost in the fire a couple of big flying F4s. I do have a Plastic model of the RF that is still intact and in my Squadrons motif. If some one made a flying kit of the RF, I may consider that again. RFs have long pointed noses and standard F4s are blunt. Thanks Don.
