  • We kept hearing stories from our indigenous mates of this Albino Saltwater crocodile that they call "Grandma".. Id send the drone up twice a day searching for it but had no luck... until the last day. This is the Finale of Season 5 and Id love if you can all please share it around with a friend or two. A couple of missions chasing freshwater Barramundi mashed into one episode to wrap up an amazing 5 weeks in the bush. We made some amazing new friends this season and covered some beautiful country. I hope you all enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed making it. Im leaving to film Season 6 in a few days so stick around for that action. See you all soon.

So amazing to see many similar trees in Aus that we have in Southern Africa. Whilst you were looking at a spear tree, I got a glimpse of a tree with a kind of heart shape leaf. We call it a fever tree in Botswana. When you cut new shoots and leaves, it leaks white milk. It is poisonous but also has a lot of medicinal properties.

As the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. Very much looking forward to another season of fun adventure. And please include more interaction with the traditional owners. It really is a treat. And tell Dane to wear some boots out in the bush. I'm sure stepping on something sharp felt significantly below average. And how cool is it to see saltwater crocodiles in their element doing what they do. Such a privilege all around. Thank you again gents. 😎👊

Awesome content lads. Thank you for bringing back memories of the nearly 3 years I called Kowanyama home. It’s a special place to me. A place where I met my wife way back in 1992. And yep we are still together and went on to spend many more years living in other parts of Cape York. We still make a pilgrimage to the mighty Mitchell every year, just a lot further inland these days. I can understand your love of the Cape. It’s a truly special place. Bring on the next season.

Looks like it was a fun trip, the crocs were most likely two males asserting dominance towards each other, when they lift their heads out of the water as you described it is typically a submissive posture, so that croc would have been backing down to a competitor. Can’t wait till the next season! - Brodie.

I remember swimming in rivers like this as a kid.Sometime we had to take a waterproof bag to swim to the other side of the river just to get smokes for the adults. This was in the Central Coast NSW Australia. Chittaway Point in the 70s..i believe its different now.Went to Berkly Vale primary school.

Your love of country and interactions with the TOs make it that much more of an experience to watch and enjoy. Amazing croc footage too, I managed to see two crocs fighting over a wallaby on the Daly River back around 2013, it was incredible to watch. As for Cherubin, I've eaten them and they are amazing. Chuck them in the billy with some salt and a little bit of sugar, boil for around 10 minutes and hook in. Good job boys. Great season. Your adventures are super special in this day and age. As someone who used to hike the Na Pali coast of Kauai barefoot I applaud you for going at it there. I WOULDNT as there are nasty creatures, but my barefoot hiking was 30 years ago. I will get back there to catch a barra....I will.....

I actually saw you Nath at our local school recently I wondered if you guys were part of our awesome school community as I’ve seen your 79 there from time to time, was hoping to introduce ourselves and say hi but lost you in the crowd, hopefully next time.
    Cheers, Jason.

FYI: @18:46 = Horrible horned seed pod looks like Martynia annua (Devils claw) an introduced hitchhiker weed.
NB: Female saltwater crocs don't really get much bigger than 3.5m, so if they were bigger than 3.5m ...... most likely two males confronting each other in a territorial dispute ...... arguing about who gets dibs over the long pigs that keep turning up on the bank ;)

Great stuff fellas, a fitting end to a magnificent season.
I understand what you mean by 'feeling the bush.'
    No, I'm not being rude.
It's a feeling of being a part of it, belonging to it. Once you become a part of it, it becomes hard to leave. Like you're leaving a great friend. That's why the sentimental goodbye.
Keep up the great job you are doing. I am really looking forward to the next season.
I hope Dane's feet are better and he's worked out how to put shoes on. 😄😄
And for christ sake guys, catch some fish. It's all good and well watching you get in some casting practice but really.
Hey, did you get any redclaw or cherabin?
Also Nath, I'm working out what type of cod lure you should use. 😁😁
Thanks for the experience that is 'Wild Reaches.'

Great end to a great season. Tell me, what's with the aversion to wearing shoes ? Do you not get sick of toe stubs, cuts and prickles ?

    • @WildReaches
      @WildReaches  2 роки тому

No I dont really. I find my feet harden to it and I rarely hurt them. I like to be barefoot for several reasons, 1. being connected or grounded (may sound weird) 2. Being barefoot I subconsciously slow down and open my eyes more rather than just trudging through the bush feeling invincible. 3. Its much quieter so I see more wildlife.
