"There are 420 million internet using people in China, and more than double that amount are mobile phone users. Eventually I will think all mobile phones will be internet enabled, so I would say 800 million internet users in the future wouldnt be an unreasonable number" Robin Li is such a visionary, todays China of 2017 has got 700 million internet users, and majority of them are on mobile phones!
They have Baidu Search, Encyclopedia and Knowledge (like Yahoo Answers). Baidu Encyclopedia is like Wikipedia but much more extensive (particularly on Chinese language/subjects), e.g: if you looked up a book in Wikipedia you get an overview of it, with good coverage of, say, the 10 main characters; if you looked up the same book in Baidu Encyclopedia you would get details on say, all 100 characters in the book, bar none. ie. Baidu has tapped into the sheer people-power of China for content.
hehe, baidu is not that good compare to Google. But Tencent and alibaba are perharps much, much better than Facebook and Amazone / Ebay. So pay more attention on them! The 99% is means everyone use it. This number does not refer to market share. The market share of Baidu is roughly 70%.
Yes... the bloodline. *bows* You dont know me but I know you. This is reminding me of someone I met in Vegas (aunt) who had to go there for a business meeting. He does something similiar (management) but not as HIGH RANKING. Maybe this was just a coincidence but was fun now that I know who I am. Hint: Priory of Sion
...first time i've seen a chinese tech entrepreneur outside china... interesting.... seeing that even that one of the most veteran tech journalist in north america has literally no idea what is going on in china....

@angelusp777 I like the way you talk: facebook, twitter, etc=everything. :) I THINK that's probably the way some Googlers think about China Internet market, which explains why they retreated while others (Expedia, Amazon, Ebay etc) fail in China.
Quite low key and refreshingly honest under the appearance of practicality.
