Great video, love your install sound effects (pfftf, squish, fkftf!) I have a '69 convertible that did come with factory air (funny since I'm in San Diego & wouldnt really need it 😂) I've never had the a/c compressor, & the heater hoses are bypassed, so I'm pretty much starting from scratch inside the engine bay, & just pulling the original heater box out of the interor. But I'm looking into this kit because I would love a heater & defrost. Might as well get the a/c too since I have all the ducts in the dash. Your video helped me see a lot! I hope I can accomplish soon 🙏 🤞

You didn't talk about the fuses at all. I was looking at my fuse box & noticed I don't have a fuse for the heater, I don't even have the metal clips installed to hold it. I do have a fuse installed for the a/c spot though. Do I need one for the heater spot also? As I stated before the heater has been bypassed, so I don't know if someone previously pulled out the fuse & clips, why they would do that I don't know 🤷‍♂️

@@dangerman1969 these systems don’t use any of the factory heat/ac wiring at all. they are standalone systems like an aftermarket radio would be.
they have some wires that go directly to the battery, then a 12v switched wire that can go to the ignition switch and then a 12v wire that ties into the dash lights wherever is convenient if you want the AC controls to be backlit. its very easy and is well covered in the instructions that come with the kits.

Man that looked like a job. Funny how the instructions and the pieces are wrong. And then you’ve got to improvise and make the pieces fit. I bet in all honesty that happens a lot because they may only have seen one or two examples of a particular model car. Or maybe even haven’t seen one in real life at all and are going by pictures. I watched Sarah on her channel had an exhaust made for a car and they had a car there to build it off of and she got it and it was wrong and didn’t fit. But it’s in good hands and it’ll be better than new when done. Can’t wait to see the next video

Yea, its extremely commonplace for 90% of restoration parts to have fit issues. Some not to bad and some stuff isnt even useable. It’s ridiculous really.

I’m having issues with a 1969 mustang . I had all the AC redone with Vintage Air parts, but the switches only blows to the floorZ it doesn’t allow me to change it to front AC, or Defrost . What do you think the issue is ?

Check to make sure everything is plugged in at the controls and at the unit under the dash. Your blend door isnt moving. Its stuck in one place, could be a stuck motor, unplugged harness or the control face has a problem. Check your grounds and then run the program mode to calibrate the controls.

The installation kit you are installing is for a car with factory air. The installation kit for a non-factory air has a different adapter for the defrost duct. With the "correct" adapter the drfost duct is shortened & the adapter installed. Not really sure why they use a different adapter for an AC car. Can be seen in the installation instructions linked below on page 33, P/N 2-1027-3.:

Yep, you are correct, wasnt aware of the duct adaptor part. The owner was told when he bought the car that it was a factory AC car. He is also the one who ordered the kit online, i guess some buddy of his could get him a “better deal” than i could. I usually get a pretty good discount through Classic auto air. I have since ordered the aftermarket AC ducts for the dash ends, havent installed them yet.
