Mystery Engine Finally Revealed! | What Displacement Is This SBF Windsor? | Wow! Look Whats Inside!

- Wow is all I can say once we had finally opened up this bad boy.
Pulling off that oil Pan I was not expecting to see what I did it was crazy.
But just getting to getting the oil Pan off was kind of a challenge with a couple of stuck bolts on the water pump and one that completely snapped off which we will have to address later on down the line.
The inside of this engine is gorgeous it is so clean all the pistons are super shiny I just can't understand how this engine got to be so clean.
And we discovered what size crankshaft it has in it so we finally know once and for all this engine is in fact a 302 small block Ford Windsor.
Although we still don't know what displacement it truly is and whether or not the boars have been oversized or if they are standard.
We have to dig even further beyond to solve these mysteries.

Looking good keep up the effort. Looks like a good candidate for a rebuild.
Will do! 😁
Definitely big plans for this one 😃
I see your number one fan is back commenting again, he just can't get enough of your awesomeness 🤣😂
He is addicted 😏
@@newguysgarage6802 you're right that dude is a NGG junkie
@@newguysgarage6802 is it the Mopar guy or the guy you're going to race or the guy that never showed up?
Glad to see your enjoying your hobby, keep the videos coming
Will do! 😁👍
Thanks for sharing so far so good
So far better than expected! 😃
Thabk you for watching 😁👍
Looks like a common re-builder aftermarket piston. Definitely NOT a factory Ford piston from what i can tell. Looks like aftermarket rod bolts too. The block is a '73, casted May 27th 1973. With that crosshatch, I'm betting its been punched .030 as its too clean being that old. Most engines that old are in need of, or have been bored. It's pretty rare to find a low miles engine of that vintage.
Defenatly not a low miles engine, that I know of for sure since we have driven it hundreds of thousands of miles in the last 20 years that we have owned it 😅
Its definitely an over board engine just not sure of how much, whether it is only 10 over or 30 over not sure just yet 🤔
Need to clean the top of a piston to see if it says on it what it is 🙂
@@newguysgarage6802 yeah its usually stamped lightly right on the face. You can hit it with a wire wheel/brush, that won't hurt it. Probably an .030 if any, or could ruin your day and be .060 ! I'd almost just re-ring it if the clearances work out ok, as it is very clean.
@OlysGarage after seeing what I have here I believe that is most likely what I will do, the crank would need to get cut down because the journals are pretty scratched up.
This engine will be on the back burner and the engine that is already inside we will focus on for spring I believe 😃
@@newguysgarage6802 might want to measure the crank too, make sure it hasn't been cut too much either. If you flip the bearing shells to their back, their oversize is normally stamped on them.
I will have to go back and see what your other engine is all about. See what you got going on there. 👍
Block plate might be what you were trying to say 😆
That might be the term lol 😆
Go with a well made aluminum water pump when you rebuild.
factoy 70s sbf pistons
Stock style, however I do believe they are an over sized piston. But no idea by how much 🤔
@@newguysgarage6802 the block looks like mid 70s block sure is clean
@@autosalvage thats what I was saying! I cant get over just how clean it was inside lol 😆
@@newguysgarage6802 what oil u been using
@autosalvage any oil that is just laying around literally.
Gas station stuff usually, I just put whatever in, mix weights brands whatever lol
when I start to see the oil pressure start to wander then I know im two quarts low....dont even change it just keep adding more in as it burns and leaks out 🤣🤣
2M = 302

Just 3 more!
I wonder if it's so clean because you basically did a oil change every 500 miles because of the leak? It did have a leak I assume 🤣
Lol 😂
🥝✔️
I'd like to tell.tjw first five new subscribers to 6percentrecycled just how many cubic inches this SBF is...
the rear main is 1972
I will say its a 1972 core as your talking about con rod bearing scratches
lol handy dandy mechanic assistant slice of pizza lol
Always need the pizza slice! Its key 😂
then you decide to build a 460 lol :P
If it would have fit in between the shock towers I would have 😂
@@newguysgarage6802 eh cut the shock towers out and install Mustang ll rack and tubular control arms, easy peasy, I would also put together a 9", if your stang has an 8" cut the 9" to the 8" width and use the 8" axles unless you want to go after market, mini spools are pretty cheap and it goes in the place of your spiders in the diff, hey if anything its content :)
@SPAZALOT if I was going to go through all the trouble of getting rid of the shock towers I would just put a straight axle under it and make it a gasser 😂
