It is a sign of the times that make many a heart yearn for the scenes of a simple life: color that paints the plants, fruited flowers that feed, sons and daughters that listen, and a grateful heart that thanks their Creator.
In a world that has seemingly gone crazy lately, these videos become more and more precious. So refreshing is it to watch something so relaxing and beautiful, and the song at the end was just the perfect touch. God bless!
You live in the midst of the cries and songs of the night. Oh how my heart longs to lay under an open window and fall asleep once again under Gods own musical of the stars............. real stars
Your intro was so hauntingly beautiful, bringing back suppressed childhood memories of the crickets, cicadas, and tree frogs singing in perfect harmony outside of my bedroom with windows raised. We did not have AC back then and would listen to the woods sounds to put us to sleep while waiting for each gust of breeze to cancel a portion of the heat the house held from the day sun.
The flaux was my ma maws favorite flower every time I see them I think of her. Her yard was full of those flowers. I have a picture sitting right in the middle of them. Thank you for a wonderful memory. Such beautiful scenery. I will always love the mountains.
These are my favorite videos! Just living a good mountain life is to be treasured and hearing your girls making music is a perfect way to end the day! Thanks for sharing!

Only part of our dinner will be "celebrating Texas" this evening (but I am cooking it while I write this. Summer yellow squash, a Texas staple during this time of year, but it isn't specific to the state, just my wife and I love it. Cooked with about half a yellow onion, a few garlic cloves, tomato paste all sauteed in about 2 TBSs each of olive oil and butter. Then the squash and then about half a can of diced tomatoes, salt and pepper and about half a cup of water. No idea if will be good, making it up as I go along, but I think it will. It already smells good. Mexican rice as the starch (that certainly goes well in Texas) and the non-Texas thing, a couple of cod fillets. I'm the retired one in the house, so I try to make dinner when I can, because my wife is still working for a living. Thanks as always for sharing y'all's vignettes of life in Appalachia!

You are so blessed to have a great family... a husband and children who love the Lord...and I think He has blessed your faithfulness with beautiful bountiful land.
Tipper, thank you so much for showing the world how truly captivating Appalachia really is. My favorite sound is night sounds, but due to the times in which we live I do not leave my window up at night. I so enjoy them when I forget to go to the mailbox and have to go at night. Somehow they are not as deafening nor quite as beautiful as they seemed when I heard them growing up. Matt is so talented and is sure a jack of all trades. I learned this following your blog through the years.

When you’re playing music around 7 minutes and showing the mountains…it sure makes me blue to see my grandparents again. I don’t think I’ll ever quit missing them. They’ve all been gone since 2002.
Reading the comments and soooo....many people have similar feelings of enjoyment and appreciation. The girls were really excellent playing the instruments. Thanks so much.
I love biscuits and gravity! I get odd looks sometimes when I eat them though because I put sugar on them. Sometimes called Okie Puddin'. It takes a surprising amount is sugar before they start to taste sweet. I like to BBQ corn on the cob. I soak the in ice water over night or at least a few hours. Then pull back the husk and remove the silk. Add butter, salt, and whatever else you like. Pull a strong off the husk and use it to tie the husks closed. Toss 'em on the BBQ.
I love the night sounds. As a little toddler & young child my folks took us 4 kids camping in a tent in the woods in Northern Mich. I so well remember these sounds as the campfire went to embers & we all settled in the tent. We always hear Whippoorwills & even a few times deer snorting out in the field. Thank you for sharing this. I really love it.
Loved everything about this video!…very relaxing to hear the sounds of nighttime in the mountains…the food looked delicious, too…take care..and yay, you’ve gotten 70k subscribers now…I hope it keeps on growing! Brenda
I’ve heard a many old person say here “ We were poor but we had plenty to eat” back in the thirties. Also heard some say they had to eat songbirds they took with slingshots they were so hungry.
I'm so glad I found your channel and your website. Your videos are great! And the music from all of you is fantastic! Takes me way back in years to a time that is often missed. God Bless y'all
Your "My Life in Appalachia" series of videos are my favorites. What type or brand of hat is Deer Hunter wearing? I think it looks great. Always enjoy seeing good food spreads on the counter in the kitchen. This was great to watch.
I swear I have had so much pleasure in watching several of your videos today/night. And it always makes me feel like I'm a kid again visiting my cousin out in the country. Thanks for taking me back to those fond memories.
I love the sounds of the night, it takes me back to my childhood. I would love to have some fresh from the garden tomatoes again but they just don't grow very good out here in the desert. Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us, it makes a little homesick.
Tipper, that is a stunning video! I can't pick one part and say I like it best ...I like the whole thing...so peaceful! I know this a true picture of how you live because I am here and part of it and I love it!
Tipper, the My Life in Appalachia videos are so wonderful. I like the sounds of beans hittin the pan as they are picked, the bee 🐝 sounds and the birds! Blessings, Allison 🌼
I worked 3-11 at the nursing home , so after all patients were fed and it was quiet time , at night , no doctors visiting , I’d sit and listen to the ones that had a story to share , a sweet lady in her late 80’s , just her and I in her room , had a lot of interesting newspapers clippings, she told me , just because is listen , that her uncle John Wilkes Booth , said he came back to north Mississippi, up around Guntown , stayed in her attic , only came out at night … etc , these people are a wealth of info , thank you

Absolutely gorgeous! I love all of this. Baby rabbits and a mama deer and her baby hiding on our place. Shhh don’t tell where fawn is. Nothing better than everything growing this time of year.
I can't tell you how beautiful this video is. It left me with a deep sense of peace. Tree frogs make a racket at night! The music was sublime. My garden is also booming. Cherokee Tomatoes too, sweet and delicious! You are Blessed and a Blessing. Godspeed.
Don’t come north. Nothing here is wholesome or good or Godly….Well no the landscape is astounding. And many of the people outside of the cities are decent, God-fearing people. What you see here is different.
Those are the sounds I hear every night now!! And I’m woken up by the early birds every morning, but your garden is amazing and truly special- I try to purchase all my fruit and veggies locally so I get that home grown flavor, and of course the music is beautiful and I love to hear your girls sing, thank you!!❣️
My corn shucks go into large brown compost bags, picked up by city and composted in large, very large rows at the municipal landfill. You can go and get all you want. Also they chip all wood in the municipal area and you can get free chips. It’s great they don’t just bury it like they used too, or incinerate anymore. Costs us a little in taxes but I think worth it
I grew up in Appalachia in the countryside outside Morristown, TN. Listening to your introductory sounds flooded my mind with memories of those beautiful sounds heard outside my bedroom window during summer nights as a child. Your work is tremendously appreciated and takes me back to my most wonderful childhood.
Not long ago, my husband entertained friends who have been city dwellers for years. Their families left farm life when our guests were in high school, which eventually led to their getting together. Their visit lasted well into the evening and after supper we retired to our screened in porch. On the farm we take for granted sights and sounds of the country. Our guests commented that they had not heard crickets and tree frogs in years. Today, I am thankful for the wonders of farm life. We have grown rattlesnake beans for years-delicious!
I enjoyed the music so much. Thank you for identifying that flower I know what's growing. Your Pink Bee Balm is huge compared to mine. I learn so much from you. Thank you.
We call it phlox in CT. I have some in my backyard and they do grow where thry want to and quite tall 5' as well. Have never noticed a fragrance but will check. Mine are the same color.... your yard gardens are wonderful!
Once a male friend brought a bunch to me with roots attached. It wasn't quite how I was raised to accept flowers, so I was a bit taken aback, but they were a beautiful shade of mauve none the less, and looked beautiful in my vase. They grow wild where I live in BC. It was a romance that didn't work out, so maybe the roots were telling.😅
I come on over to this one again for another listen mostly but I open my eyes from time to time and the sights are mighty fine too. Like that fiddle and banjo and that big 'ol bee...and the rifling through leaves for beans...and the shuckin'... it all was a blessing to my ears.
Happiest time of my life was in rural Arkansas. Country is actually like U showed, quite loud. Peepers crickets, your accent home canned food, Southern cooking** okra, green tomatoes, cornbread and biscuits swimming holes, riding our mule ( old Jeff) , playing guitar with our friends, home brew beer and soda pop, home raised pork, chickens and ducks, the wonderful spring water chopping wood forheat, cooking on the wood stove. . almost 45 years ago and I still dream of those days.
I can watch all day long but as usual it’s night in California when I’m able to watch lately it’s 1:37 am and I’m so relaxed watching the pink and white plants are just beautiful.❤️🙏🏾
What a lovely peaceful video. Don't we all need that. What are the dark pink flowers that the bees love so much? And my husband Buz would love that Blueberry Upside Down Cake as he is a blueberry fanatic. I will have to make it and surprise him. Yall have taught me so many things. I see that 'rich pine: Matt is using for the fire. That was a new thing for me when you first showed it. And as always sweet music from the girls. God Bless yall.
I put blueberries in my cornbread and my Joe just loves it… I sprinkle some sugar on top so it has a little crunchy crust… with butter? Try it if y’all love blueberries like we do♥️☮️😘
Thanks for sharing these clips from your life in Appalachia. Love this country and its people. It was home to my ancestors. They left me a rich heritage. Thanks also for the music at the end.
For me, there is no better life. Where the old ways still rule, people still respect their elders, show common courtesy to others, "honor thy father and mother", and you get backhanded away from the table for not cleaning off the molasses knife before sticking it in the butter when "makin up a sop". Now Miss Tipper, you know that neighbor done growed them ears. Don't correct you're Appalachianisms... LOL! ;o) That's why we're here!
Nice one to watch just before heading to work… peaceful. I like Matt’s hat towards the end, I’ve got a few similar to that I like to wear if not wearing a ball cap and they wear really good! Got to put up some silver queen myself when I get off today! Pretty vegetables and pretty fiddle and guitar music at the end!
Thank you for the visit. Really enjoyed the night sounds, sunset & garden. Mr. sure was hungry. Breakfast looked reaaal good. I've been to the Carolinas. The hills & the shore. It was more in the fall so lots of leaf color too. My impression was that it is gentle, beautiful country. What I call 'Cozy'. Wonderful. ❤️🌈

This one video brought back such wonderful memories. You live an awesomely, beautiful life and I know you love it as much as I miss it.
That’s what we call it in S Central PA. My mom loved that stuff.
So glad you enjoy the videos Cleta 🙂
I can watch all day long but as usual it’s night in California when I’m able to watch lately it’s 1:37 am and I’m so relaxed watching the pink and white plants are just beautiful.❤️🙏🏾
Thank you Shawn!!
Thank you!! That flower is bee balm 🙂
I put blueberries in my cornbread and my Joe just loves it… I sprinkle some sugar on top so it has a little crunchy crust… with butter? Try it if y’all love blueberries like we do♥️☮️😘
Awesome video! Thank you, family.

Beautiful music and singing and beautiful girls. Thank y’all so much. God bless y’all.
NY crickets are loud tonight. We have phlox in shades of pink to lavender and white with a pink eye. Your bee balm is beautiful!
Thank you Nan 🙂
🙂
I agree with you totally. That is how it should be
Very happy bees! A very peaceful life.
Wonderful. ❤️🌈
I was surprised that you don't grow corn & your desert looked deeeelicious.❤️🤗
I wish we had more room for corn 🙂 Thank you for watching!
@@CelebratingAppalachia that id usually the reason. No room or no sun. Thank you so much. We love you & your family.❤️
Your videos reminds me of when I was growing up we had 4 big garden spots that fed my family that lived next door . I miss those times
