Awesome footage. This video should be a 1 million view video. Very cool to watch. It was interesting to see how they did not cut the boundaries and just picked up edges as the new truck arrived.
We've a 980 over here in England,we love ours Jesus you can bang some stuff through through them!!!we use our direct disc for chopping rye, wheat, oats barley as whole crop as we call it over here, also have an 12row class maize header too,for chopping for farmers and bio-digester plants etc,we have a bio drum inside our chopper for when we go to the digesters fella, such a great iconic machine they've been around for time now bud!!!great vid mike keep em coming fella!!!🔥🔥👍🏻😍😀🙏🏻😎
In Ireland up to mid-90s, some farmers used to direct cut silage and others swathed it and used pickup headers. Acid was also added to treat the silage but that practice stopped. Now all farmers and agri contractors swath silage. So really interesting to see a direct cut header in action.
marksandsparks1 these heads nowadays are mainly used for biogas in Germany. Google ‘Gantz-Plant-Silage’ or ‘GPS Biogas Silage’ for some crazy big 5 harvester operations in Eastern Germany. You won’t believe your eyes they are on a massive scale.
When we do our direct cut of triticale, we also chop into large forage wagons pulled by tractors with front & rear duals mostly due to the ground not being able to dry out like it does when we cut it and come back a day or 2 later to windrow & chop, also to reduce compaction by the semis.
I only know of one direct cut silage header in south east Colorado and it’s a Spartan from Capello. It works really good, does a nice job. They have to be careful to make sure the crop is mature enough tho otherwise it puts it up too wet. Also does not work when bagging silage as the water runs out of the bags
For those of you who don’t know what a dry cow is, it is a cow that is not being milked because it is soon going to give birth to a calf and thus needs that milk for the calf
Tons and tons of feed. Dry cows 🐄 will do well on this. Some day one of those choppers is going to catchup to that little drone and eat it. Great sound. That chopper is working hard 😓. Thanks.
Great video Mike. How about a "field" style tire for semi's used predominantly for field use??? Might this be a marketable idea? Mike, I'll let you take it from here...lol. Thanks once again for making my day!

A modern day flail chopper !! Wicked technology

I didn't miss the stream this time! Love the smell of silage👍
Great video👍
Enjoyed the video, nice chopping head. Its that time of year already, seems like time is flying by. Thanks for your time.
Thanx Mike another good one from nz
That's one hell of a machine great time saver
Great teamwork and power cutting. Thanks for sharing.
That head design looks to be a lot better than the previous version , looks more like the cappello
Excellent video Mike
Super satisfying to watch.

Thanks!
Do they till the harvested field before planting corn?
Great machine! Besides harvesting crop. It makes a great tow truck😀
Mike, don't these trucks have a deferential lock to lock in there power divider?
Those direct cut headers are popular here in Central California
I would like to see this machine chopping corn silage this fall.
A Claas is good for everything...also for towing Trucks...
do you know about how much tonnage they where getting from that tritacale per acre ??
toolmaker65 we quit that day, didn’t end up getting to it till about 2 weeks later. Chopped it at 35% DM at 18 ton per acre.
@ 11:49 this driver had both drive axles Engaged but still got stuck !
What causes the pattered in the fields?
What else could you use that for besides this and hay?
Awesome vid

Man i bet those trailer loads were heavy with the bit higher moisture
Thats a big job. Far out to cut pull in chop and blow a lot happening.
Close to the road then far from the road then back close to the road?
I got a 610 direct cut which is wider and 2 augers in it
It had rained the night before and everyone was set up to film this and as the driver of the black truck they could have edited the towing out lol
Olá muito lindo este verde amo agro qual é nome dessa plantação e capim pra fazer silagem pode me dizer sou do Brasil 🇧🇷
Nice.
That cutting head is not very old just got it less than a month ago if i remember right
They should have a tractor to pull the trucks out

Nice
I thought it was called triticow. Moo. Nice video.
Sa l'acteur acteur une fleur line Florine Florine Florine Merci beaucoup. Merci beaucoup.
Why use trucks when tractors can now go 50/60kph on the road and are a lot better on the land
Where are the moo cows? If this is ready to eat, why not let them have something green?
direct cutting
It’s just a lawn mower
