Howdy, just come across your channel. Love it so far... hope to see ya at Ace, W/D, or The Pig or Chicken House one day. Keep the Faith Brother, all of Jax can't move here....even tho lots have already.🤣🤠
A question I can't resolve looking through the net: I have a solar charger and need to know how to put washers and wingnut on the two (pos and neg) pegs on the unit. Help. Also, I am grateful for the info on this video.
It would be helpful to see the unit and parts but I assume you are asking if the order is wire then washer then wing-nut which I would say is correct. Or if you have 2 washers then sandwich the wire between the 2 washers. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠
Great question. I We use hi tensile which is different than standard light wire. Wire spacing and higher joules (output from charger) are big factors. We haven’t started cross fencing with just electric ⚡️ yet but we intend to soon. I have visited other farms that are successful with this method. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠⚡️
I have 80 acres. The longest distance from the charger would be a 1/2 mile. I have a 6 x 6 wet weather creek/ditch. Will I have to have a separate ground wire on the fence?
Most likely yes. The fence charger manufacturer should have a recommendation on the instructions or website. Each manufacturer may has different requirements. 👍🏼🤠
Why did you use 3 ground rods? I am running 360 ft of electric fence for deer to keep out of my garden. The guy at the store gave me one ground rod, do I need 3? I plan on using this fence for less than 2 years, already have chainlink and will putting that up in the fall of 2022. Thank you!
As long as you get a good ground you are likely fine. Certain soils are harder to get a ground. Also larger chargers need a solid ground system. My charger currently does a 4wire system over 2000’. Get a fence tester and make sure you have good voltage and you may still be fine. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠
I got hold of a 6 joule charger (100 mile) it makes you invent new cuss words, and makes all future babies be born naked. On a serious note. We have rock 1 to 2 feet down. Can one just ground to a wire hooked to t posts in the fence for the ground instead of trying to get ground rods down 6 feet?
I appreciate the good laugh. Truthfully I think it has a lot to do with your moisture content in the ground. Obviously in order to complete the circuit you have to get a good ground as in connection. I have establish the ground in as little as just a few feet in certain places where it’s been more difficult to drive the rod all the way down. It may take a little bit of trial and error. Great question and thank you for the comment I hope this helps. 👍🏼🤠
We are in Florida and pretty sandy so we have to go deeper. If it were me where you are, I would drive them as deep and as solid as I could and maybe add 1 or 2 extra rods to the system. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠
The ground rod kit I purchased came with 3 so I decided to se them all. That is the only reason for me. Really depends on your soil as well. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠

Thanks for the video. I am going to install an electric fence around my chicken coop. I had 10 chickens eaten by stray dogs.
Sorry to hear about the attack. Hopefully the electric ⚡️ fence will prevent future issues. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠
Nicely done. Appreciate the info.
Thank you!

Does the end of the fence run need to be grounded or just the ground wire?
Just the ground wire according to the instructions that came with our charger. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠

Will the electric fence alone hold goats in? Or do the goats just walk through it as I have heard from others?.

My uncle lived in Callahan. Hoyt Evans
Love the small town. I do not recognize the name unfortunately. Great place to live. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🏼🤠
I know the red live wire goes to the fence, the green to the ground. where does the black wire connect?
Reds and blacks are at the 120v plug 🔌. As for the live wire it is a single wire with a single ground. Hope this helps. 👍🏼🤠

What if my rods will only go in 3ft due to rock. Checked many locations

@@McFallFarms gotcha ty. I happen to have extra rods. Hope you and the family have a great year
I have accidentally hand tested a 2 mile charger on my Chicken coop. You don't want to try that with a 10 mile for sure !
It will let you know you are alive. 😂
