That’s the key. Yes there are higher rated 11-year olds today, but how many of them will go on to outperform Carlsen some day?

    Young Magnus was very aggressive but when he was growing up he converted his playing style into mostly positional to win more games at higher level.

      Exactly. A strategy of minimizing the potential to lose. Either win or draw. Not as fun to watch. But effective for sure.

      I did nort enjoy magnus games ,too materialistic not even giving up a pawn and no exchange sacrifices only goes for queen trades which makes me boring,

    Whats crazy about that Queen sacrifice is the uncertainty in the endgame. I saw Qxa7, Rb8 and Qxb8 but I wont pursue the line since I am not confident I can hold the two queen pawns. I underestimate the activity of the rook. Brilliant display of creativity from Magnus Carlsen

    Magnus is really a fascinating person... Whether you like him or not, you must agree, that his chess style is priceless... Such a wonderful game. Not many players could find such a sneaky and good idea, what an insane insight of board and position... Nowadays he plays more carefully and also he wents for positions, which are not that hard for him to play, but from time to time, he can still sacrifice everything for attack. He just likes chess a lot and you can see it in his style of play.

      Young magnus is better. He is strong and play interesting moves. Nowadays he play boring engine move 99% of the time.

    I remember seeing a magnus game in the paper newspaper, and he was like 9 or something and it blew my mind because of its unpredictability. I had no idea what he was doing and I was following chess in those days. Little did I suspect his imminent take-off towards the pantheon of chess. I mean, after all he was norwegian

      - Next: dirty flag, quick draws or London system is immoral. Also autosniper in cs2 / csgo. Lol.
      - (Well maybe keyboard extensions or farmbitrage - both in lichess.)
      - Before, players WERE allowed to write move before playing. Bobby Fischer did this vs I think Mikhail Tal, so what, Bobby cheated Mikhail? Lol.
      2 - How can someone be against Alireza's LEGAL farming but not outright ILLEGAL cheating of Magnus, Garry & Hikaru?

    The c8 square was a problem in this game which Magnus capitalized on, just as the piece that starts on c8 is always a problem for black in this defence.

    Some Great moves Queen takes a7 was an incredible brilliant idea an average player would definitely not think of Magnus showing his Chess ingenuity even at this young age Clever little fella 😅

    I did spot the queen sacrifice but didn't calculate all the continuations. I just saw the vulnerability of the queenside pieces and the king to a back rank check and that Qxa7 screws up the coordination of the black pieces sufficiently to threaten significant material gain.

    That's one of the strangest queen sacrifices ever, I mean mostly u can simply see the queen sacrifices. Sometimes it's harder but that was spectacular like the whole tension on one side with the knight and then u sacrifice the queen on the other side of the board.... That escalated so damn quickly

    So bad that your technology do not allow to show the evaluation bar on the video. Goat chess shows it in his videos but I do not know what technology does he have access to, probably some stock fish or the like. It will allow to see more clear every move potential and impact on the game.

      It's a 3rd world country that isn't so known for chess besides Eugene Torre, Bobby Fischer's friends in the Philippines & Bobby Fischer's future adoptive nephew by Lotis Key (whoever that nobody nephew is).
      Which means it will be embarrassing when in the future Magnus loses to that nobody 3x classical games in a row.

    I was able to solve the "pause the video" moment in 11 seconds to be honest, I was looking for weird ways to sacrifice some material and then suddenly Rxa7 rang a bell, I am proud of myself.

    Love these games especially players with around 2000 rating. Still phenomenal moves but a bit easier to understand from a perspective of noob like myself. At the highest level, these guys are just playing like computers even beyond their preparation. For most people very hard to understand some of those moves. Great video!

    Nice video and excellent pronunciation of the word Other just a bit after the 7 minute mark ... The TH pronunciations for the words other, another and rather can be difficult if/when English is a secondary/more language..
