Kayo K230: Any Good? First impressions - Riding on dirt (duh!)

- About a month ago, I purchased a new dirt bike. not wanting to spend too much money, I took the risk to purchase a Kayo K230, and I wanted to share my first impressions with you.
My bikes:

My kayo 140 is a beast
I had my kayo 140 for 2 year now only thing i had to do is change tires and tube
got one of these yesterday for 1k new felt like an absolute steal, first impresions from me the rear suspention stock sucks arse and the idle is way out of what stock tune needs retune
extended the rear shock adjuster to the max made the rear a bit harder and its perfect
i found the brakes excellent out of the crate i got it in, power is good on premium fuel.
That’s a steal. I did the same about a week ago with suspension. It felt like I was losing 5 inches on clearance just by sitting on it.

Cool video, just one thing I wanted to mention is your rear shock is upside down whoever assembled the bike put it in backwards other than that the engines on these things are bulletproof.
Are you kidding me! I am here laughing hahahah. That’s why I became a “garage” mechanic. This bike was put together by the dealership. I am not home but I will look at it as soon as ai get home……

@@ToModorNottoMod I have owned both the T2 and the K2 great bikes for the price. I live in ecuador and work in a mechanic shop so we work on these bikes every day, I can say the engines are pretty much bulletproof and top of the line as far as chinese bikes go.
Got a kayo t4 250 since 3 years, stage 3 on the engine now, it's a bargain for the price ! Kayos are awesome bikes

@@ToModorNottoMod Yeah the overall quality of these bikes is amazing for price, plus you can easily mod them with some cheap interventions like this: a PWK 30mm carb ( so much better than the orinal pe 28 ) , a better handlebar ( renthal in my case : really nice ) and better gaz commands / brake and clutch levers , a digital CDI ( with the stock cdi the RPM are limitated to 5500 rpm but you can reach 8500 rpm with a digital racing CDi) a Nibbi racing ignition coil and NGK
spark plug supressor + an iridium spark plug, and finally , 41 teeth in the back ( for enduro purpose ) rather the 45 stock ( which is more adapted for mx terrains ). All of this for around 300 bucks and it's not the same bike anymore ! The racing exhaust with powerbomb is very cool too.
ps : Be carefull with the oil in the fork. it's probably an oil use for stockage I had to replace mine because it was too liquid and I had some leaks. I replaced the ancient oil with a more viscous oil and everything is ok now so far so good
What’s the top speed difference when it was stock Vs now??
@@vartanmovsesian5222 110km/h stock 130 k m/h now. It's not really about speedn but about torque and horsepower ( 22hp stock and 29hp average now )
@@ArthurAlison WOW!! 22hp stock!?!? That’s better than a brand new klx230!! My local dealer has k2’s for 1500, is the k2 pretty much the same thing as the T2?
I read that the guy who made kayo was an engineer for honda for 10 years and that he wanted to venture out on his own. Guess you can see some similar specs on the engine. So if read.

That’s awesome. I can’t remember how many hours I have on mine but is not much but it has been a great bike so far.

Does it also have an electric start or only kick start?
And do you know of if kayo kayo has different plastics I could put on it?
Yes sir kickstart and electric start. Regarding plastics, only OEM but I bet these plastics were recycled from other bike and maybe tweaked a little so pretty sure we can get created and fit some other plastics!

Don't worry,A new guy joined us on our EU bikes today and no serious rider would own this thing.Thid guy must ride with really slow riders.
I ride with a group that plays bingo on Friday and ride dirt bikes on Saturday!
I am afraid I am stating the obvious but this bike I purchased for $1900 new. It would be pretty unreasonable to compare it to a $10,000 KTM.
This is a beginner’s bike and yes the people I ride with are Slow.
It’s cool that you have the experience and the equipment that allows you to demonstrate what you guys are capable of, that unfortunately is not me.
have any carbuerator problems? the air screw is behind the frame it makes for a very difficult adjusting did you replace the carb at all
No issues, but in Arizona you either ride when is cold or when is hot and I have to adjust the carb almost every time….and yes geez I always have a 8mm open wrench with me.
I just deal with the arthritis hahahaha geez it is uncomfortable
I rode one today off my Beta 300.Is that a moped motor.We just told the owner we can't wait for you more.That thing is unreal underpowered.I could smoke it on a old yz80 without e start.
Hahahahaha 🥴😂😂. Not laughing at you, you literally made me laugh. My experience riding many dirt bikes is minimal so for my purpose this bike works. But I can see how a avid rider might shy away from it.
Maybe you need the 250 K4 and not this one.

@oscarschiff9180 From my perspective I think it’s decent for a 230 motor. I don’t share the same opinion as other people of being extremely underpowered. I guess it also depends on your riding experience etcétera.
@@ToModorNottoMod Not bad bikes but I raced over 20 years and run with a fast crowd.The bikes are definity more affordable for the casual trail rider.My wife has a klx 140r that's actually a hoot to goof around on.

What’s the top speed?
About 50-60 depending on how carb is tuned and the way you gear it min is about 48 I have a smaller gear in the front went from a 13t to a 12t and re jet the carb 100% worth it. I'm mainly off road enduro single track so I like the down low more powerful
you dont need much braking with those garbage, the engine make about 13 hp!
