Atem Mini lacks an On/Off button and to access important features you need a computer. AV MatrixAV Matrix HVS0402U is a stand alone switcher and there is no need for a computer.
Atem Mini has no multi view unless you upgrade to the Pro. AV Matrix HVS0402U has Multiview integrated.
With the AV Matrix HVS0402U you can access and edit all the features within the box.

Thank you very very much for this review. I have an ATEM mini and the video feed from my camera is unstable, and I’m finding the software control confusing, and it also occasionally crashes. I find it a little more stable when I use the hdmi out and a separate capture card, into my Mac. This switcher looks far more straightforward and stable. I think I’ll need to get one. Thanks for your comment. My experience with this switcher has been all positive. I’ve never had a problem with it. Everything I need it’s in the box without the need of software or to be chained to a laptop and it’s built like a tank. I’m happy with it. I had the ATEM mini and I sent it back I do prefer this one.

Good day sir! How did you manually reset you switcher? I changed my multiview settings and the result is not compatible input. How do I fix this?

Price-wise is competing against the Atem Mini Pro. Can this live stream to youtube, facebook, etc, as a standalone unit, without connecting it to the computer as a webcam?

To livestream you would still need a computer or some gadget. However, the advantage is that over the Atem is that you do not need the computer to access all the features. I pre-record so I record to the computer and if I’m on the go I record to a HDMI recorder. For live-streaming and having multiple shots with one camera you should try the Mevo Camera. That streams without the need of a computer. Also if you could use it in combination with an iOS app called Prism Live.

i see you can import pictures, but can you import video like a they do for a news show?

I’m not sure, and I’m not near it right now to try however, you can use one of the inputs to run your prerecorded video from any source computer, camcorder, iPhone, iPad etc. and either pick that channel or use the pic in pic mode.

@@edgaba that's what I was thinking, have a bunch of video ready on a laptop and plug it into 1 of the hdmi's. I was wondering if that's how you do it.

@@notsofast2325 yeah that’s the way I would do it run the videos from something I to one of the HdMI Channels. I think the pic import is just for logos, lower thirds etc.
