I am an MEP design engineer by profession and I would never recommend getting a solar panel system if the power requirement of the property is less than 500 Kw. I have done a lot of feasibility studies for various clients in the past. The investment will never pay for itself. I will point out some key points to shorten the comment. First, the panels will need scrapper to get rid of dust particle on the surface so it can fully harvest sunlight. Second, sun rays will not always be perpendicular to the panel surface, some sunlight will get deflected even at a small angle, so it will need to adjust automatically to get its maximum potential. Third, as per NFPA standard, any batteries will need to be replace every 5 years even if it is still functioning as it becomes fire hazard. This would definitely impact the value of the property insurance. Fourth, it is not that easy to sell unused power (if there is any) back to the grid (net metering). Where is the nearest grid connection? Who will shoulder the installation cost from your property back to the nearest grid? And fifth, the operational and maintenance aspect of the system installation. There are a lot more to consider before you can clearly see the bottomline of the investment. If power outage is one of the driving force why you want to consider solar panel system, I would suggest an emergency generator is the more convenient and economically sound choice.
Ok point taken. What would you do if electricity prices reached Php 20/kWhr? Northern regions like Ilocos currently been charged around Php 17/kWhr. They do not have the choice to switch energy provider. Only workaround is saving electricity much more. Coal prices reached an all time high of $400 per metric ton which is the fuel of our base load plants here in the Philippines. The reason why energy prices got up. I do believe even if a residential establishment is using below 500 kWhr per month having solar as investment will safeguard you from unstable energy price in the future.

You should have emphasized (12:28) using DEEP CYCLE batteries for a solar panel system since they are not as easily damaged compare to a regular battery ( car batteries in particular ) when subjected to constant CHARGE & DISCHARGE cycles. Also, just to avoid more confusions especially with non-technical consumers: 1) "Identical batteries in SERIES connection= voltage is ADDED up and current (Amps) stays the same. 2) "Identical batteries in PARALLEL connection= voltage stays the same and current (amps) is ADDED up. Although I agree with you on mentioning Ohm's Law and its importance, an average consumer may be confused on setting up the system. Therefore, I would encourage them to seek a qualified installer or learn the basics of Ohm's Law.

Para kahit off mo pa yong main breaker mo, may sapat ka na kuryente para lumamig ang gabi mo at makatulog ka ng mahimbing. Isang tip din para makatipid ay ang pag gamit ng LED bulbs sa buong bahay at tantyahin din kung gaano kaliwanag ang kelangan sa location ng bahay na yon. Mas mataas na watts ng bulb mas makain sa kuryente pero mas maliawanag. Kung CR lang naman eh kahit 3-5 watts pwede na yan. Kung kwarto naman pwede na rin nga 10watts malakas na yan. From there, susumahin mo ngayon kung ilang kilowatts ang kelangan mo para mapatakbo ng battery ang buong bahay mo tuwing gabi. Yong mga ilaw nagtatagal lang naman hanggang 10PM madalas. Yong fan talaga ang pinaka importanteng umaandar hanggang umaga.. Anyway maganda rin tong video kasi kahit hindi pa naipaliwanag ang ibang bagay, at least meron ng basic knowledge ang mga may balak mag kabit nitong solar power system. Hindi yata tama na sisingilin ka pa ng Meralco kung yung sobrang power ay bumabalik sa Meralco assuming na ina allow nila ang grid tied solar set up. Sa agreement Dapat nakasaad yun. Dapat bi-directional yung metro nila at ni rerequire na may pv meter after the inverter before the main section para ma monitor yung generation at mabigyan ng credit.

Kung pang emergency lang (not for off-grid installation), mas simple kung completely separate ang wiring - mas madali mag monitor ng loads. Otherwise, maaring kailangan mo mag setup ng transfer switches para sa existing circuits ng bahay o building (consult a proffessional Electrician).

Our two 1.5hp aircon capacitors have to be replaced which according to the technician is because of the unsteady supply of power. We have a 3kw solar by the way. normally iaapply mo sa meralco yun brad for net metering.. so papalitan nila yung meter mo ng net meter.. pero kung hindi mo pinapalitan, yung excess energy is treated as consumption din nung normal meter.

Di sir nangyayari lng yan pag nag export ka ng power sa utility bali sobra yung production ng solar mo tapos hindi nilagyan ng limiter kasi yung ordinary meter ng utility isa lng ang ikot ma charge din sayo yung na export mo. Ok na tanggalin ang limiter pag na approve na yung net metering application nyo sa utility bali yung old meter nyo papalitan ng bi-directional meter kung saan pwede ka ng mag export power sa grid.
ganito yon mga sir, kapag ang kontador nyo ay uni directional kung baga sa kalsada ay one way lang. pag nag may sobra kang kuryente galing sa solar mo babasahin ng metro yon at idadagdag sa konsumo mo. kung mag kakabit ka ng grid tie make sure magpapalit ka ng bi directional na kontador or mag power limitter ka.

Sa US pag nag over produce ka ng kuryente sa solar panels mo, sila pa ang magbibigay ng credit sa iyo para hindi ka magbayad sakaling kakailanganin mo ang power nila (Net Metering).
Sa ibang bansa yun e dito sa pinas ultimo kuryente ginto private sector may ari ng meralco wala sa gov natin ang meralco kung dilang binenta ng aquino sa lopez sana maliit lang ang singil

Hindi yata tama na sisingilin ka pa ng Meralco kung yung sobrang power ay bumabalik sa Meralco assuming na ina allow nila ang grid tied solar set up. Sa agreement Dapat nakasaad yun. Dapat bi-directional yung metro nila at ni rerequire na may pv meter after the inverter before the main section para ma monitor yung generation at mabigyan ng credit.

Do you need electric wiring exclusive for the solar system? Or you make use of the existing electrical wirings?
Kung pang emergency lang (not for off-grid installation), mas simple kung completely separate ang wiring - mas madali mag monitor ng loads. Otherwise, maaring kailangan mo mag setup ng transfer switches para sa existing circuits ng bahay o building (consult a proffessional Electrician).

Since using solar, my welder have been complaining about having to raise the amps of the welding machine to be able to do full weld. Our two 1.5hp aircon capacitors have to be replaced which according to the technician is because of the unsteady supply of power. We have a 3kw solar by the way. So the question is : would our appliances be damaged by solar use? Thanks a lot.

Boss di ko ma gets yung nag produce ka ng maraming electricity tapos mas mahal pa meralco mo. Bakit ganun?
normally iaapply mo sa meralco yun brad for net metering.. so papalitan nila yung meter mo ng net meter.. pero kung hindi mo pinapalitan, yung excess energy is treated as consumption din nung normal meter.

Di sir nangyayari lng yan pag nag export ka ng power sa utility bali sobra yung production ng solar mo tapos hindi nilagyan ng limiter kasi yung ordinary meter ng utility isa lng ang ikot ma charge din sayo yung na export mo. Ok na tanggalin ang limiter pag na approve na yung net metering application nyo sa utility bali yung old meter nyo papalitan ng bi-directional meter kung saan pwede ka ng mag export power sa grid.

ganito yon mga sir, kapag ang kontador nyo ay uni directional kung baga sa kalsada ay one way lang. pag nag may sobra kang kuryente galing sa solar mo babasahin ng metro yon at idadagdag sa konsumo mo. kung mag kakabit ka ng grid tie make sure magpapalit ka ng bi directional na kontador or mag power limitter ka.
