Ford and Holdens idea of racing...if you cant beat your competition...weigh them down and hobble them until you can. AKA Cheat! Nissans idea of Racing...BUILD A BETTER CAR!
@@feydespiel. R32s were still incredibly dominant in JGTC, running in an FR layout instead of F4. It's a shame Group A didn't continue for touring cars, I'd have liked to see the Cosworth Escorts take on Godzilla.
@@klayshotter The specifications of Skyline GT-R BNR32 differed depending on the team. "While the Calsonic Skyline (IMPUL) on which Masahiko Kageyama drove and Seiichi Sodeyama’s COCKPIT Tatebayashi GT-R were 4WD N3 specifications, Masahiro Hasemi’s UNISIA JECS and Toshio Suzuki’s ZEXEL Skyline (NISMO) were 2WD FR and the transmission was modified to X-TRAC 6-speed. Akira Iida’s Johnson Skyline (NISMO, from Round 3 of the competition, N1 specification engine, no restrictor, 4WD) also participated. The JGTC regulated engine modifications with air restrictors (around 450 to 480 ps lower than that of in 1993) led to FR conversion because major modifications to the suspension was allowed. As a result, both 4WD and 2WD won one victory each and Kageyama became the champion for the two consecutive years." That's according to Motorsports Market and Japanese Nostalgic Car.
What an amazing time in Australian motorsport 🇦🇺
This is great stuff. Thanks Channel 7 for messing with it. Balance between the Big 4 cars torwards the end of group A was great.

Surely Perkins didnt think he could Win in an old dinosaur V8

Did you actually watch the footage. The Sierra has a weight penalty as well.
Fords were weighed down : lost tyre width too - and 6 years old. The Nissan would want to win with the biggest budget ever at the time.

Nissan’s Sandbagging, what a bloody dumb statement.
Why in the hell would they do that?
So that they didn’t continue to get performance ballast.
I agree with you though, i highly doubt they would’ve been sandbagging
