As a graphic designer AND an avid jazz fanatatic, it pleases me to no end to hear Richard Havers not only discuss the great history of Blue Note, but also the great album covers and their designers. Bravo Richard. Bravo!

The first time I ever heard jazz was a Blue Note record. Since then it is the background music of my life

I'd estimate that at least 85% of ''jazz fans'' completely ignore the pre-bebop Blue Note records (and pre-bebop jazz music overall). Some don't even mention the BN records of Fats Navarro, Bud Powell, Howard McGhee and even the Monk and Miles albums. What's the reason for this .... are the majority of Blue Note diehards hard-bop only fanatics?

Didn't Lions give up on Monk in early 50s as he wasn't selling? Great upload anyway, thanks.

So strange not to mention Lou Donaldson when speaking about Blue Note Records
