Hey lovely people! Thought I'd share the story behind this track here: When he was in his mid-twenties, my dad left his native Nigeria to come to the Netherlands. He had a really rough time. Having to deal with overt racism, having no family nearby and, at one point, being homeless, the story of how he had to fight to sort out his life and eventually made way for me to live mine, makes me sad and proud at the same time. This song describes the chapter in his life where, after a police raid on his safehouse that had him dangling from the balcony at 12 stories high (yes, shit was that crazy), he ended up homeless for a few months. "March" describes the raid, the people that crossed him and how he used to walk around the city of Amsterdam endlessly while he was homeless. On these walks he would have conversations with his mother in his head (she died when he was 9). She tells him: 'Keep on walking. Keep marching. Things will turn out alright'. She was right. They did. So when things turn sour: MARCH!🥁✊🏾 Massive appreciation to Common Sense for sharing this story and to everyone listening ❤️
Hope everyone watching/listening this song likes it. It is a great song from an awesome channel. Thank you Common Sense for providing more incredible song during these trying times.
I have a very bad headache and I for some reason I have insomnia I cant sleep very well. And because of it Im being angry all the time. Songs like that helps me a little. So thanks
Love this Channel. Absolutely. I've been never disapointed. It's insane how many great songs you share and not to forget that beautiful artwork of yours. Keep on like that ❤ Its just great
Finally! Once I heard before this as part of a youtube list, I liked it, but forgot because I just didn't pay attention as I was studying. Then I couldn't even find it because I just remembered the "Ra-pa-pa-pam" part and the melody (english is a learnt language for me, so what I hear when I don't pay attention to translate it, is more like gibberish than actual speaking). Sadly, internet didn't know what I want when I typed in that "common sense rapapapam" XD (I hoped it was on this channel because the 80% of the list was from there.) But finally, after 3 months it appeared again! Thanks for this song! I like it very much when I don't pay attention and love it when I actually hear it :D
My Dude..how did one man manage to find such delicacy in this modern Age with all these K-Pop and Other Genre music... Edit : I'm gonna say it here for any kind of misconceptions to those who likes K-Pop and give me hate here. I'm not trying to hate on K-Pop. i used it as a example because of how relevant it is...and how it over shadow much of other great music out there... I did say "Such Delicacy in this modern age" because in today modern age unless some sort of music studio or corporation backs you up...you will be in the dark with no one listening, reading, or listening the creation you created..
@@gagida1829 you do realized that I'm not trying to refer that K-Pop is bad. It's just that people are rating it so high forgetting that there's other music that is genuinely amazing..but not getting enough support for it.. I could easily call out many other music genre besides K-Pop, but that's the example I'll be starting at because of how relevant it is... But if it does sounds like im hating K-Pop then I'll try to Pronounce it in a different way here..
Hey man, I'm not sure how to describe it but I take a lot of inspiration from Stromae, the Belgian producer. It's a mix of pop, rap/rnb and folk/songwriter music, I suppose :) thanks for showing love! ♥
@@JesseAbbey The bass effects are just fantastic. The way the word "MARCH" is said in this track, it just brings in so much power to the song which is otherwise somewhat soothing. Loved the combination of powerful and soothing vocals in this track as well as the music. The only thing I needed was a good home theater system. :-D
