    all gold is important but the relay golds symbolise dominance not just that a country can have one or two runners better than the rest of world but that a country has a TEAM that is better, stronger and faster than the rest. you can't claim to be the sprint capital of the world when the event that shows the country's prowess the most you can't win. i love jamaica but they need to fix up and clean this mess

      @@DaMariSayles Yes the relay is a team effort and is a display of dominance. However a gold medal from a relay doesn't have the same value for each athlete. Some athletes have gotten relay golds without getting any exposure or sponsorship thereafter. So for the athlete, the relay gold is an add-on or icing on the cake. Relay gold means more to an athlete who has already proven himself. China has a phenomenal relay team but can you name any of the athletes off of your head. Italy got gold in the men's 4x100 in the Tokyo Olympics. Can you name any other Italian athlete other than Jacobs? Jacobs had already proven himself and that gold medal was an add-on. Relays are more significant in showcasing a team and country rather than individual athletes. And I agree that Jamaica should work on fixing a few things. But Jamaica relay teams have done very well in the past but the last two.okpics proves that there is work needed or something was overlooked.

    Relays are the ultimate example of teamwork and coordination. Many nations take great pride in the collective efforts of it's team events as it many times garners a more universal sense of solidarity amongst those that wave a particular country's flag. The vast majority of the world's most popular sports are team efforts. And there doesn't seem to be any shortage of recognition and sponsorships for the individuals that stand out in those team efforts.

    Any gold medal is important. That is what any country celebrates mostly. Go for gold in any event! At the end of the day it’s the golden glory that matters most. As it comes with him or her national anthem.

    Here is the deal, in track you can only get a maximum of three to 4 medals which includes the relays. Unless you’re Sifan Hassan and that’s a different story. Most sprinters can either run hurdles and flats or two adjacent meter race wether that be 100/200, 200/400, or 400/800. So in order to increase your medal count you have to run the relays. If Letsile medaled in the 100 he would have left Paris with 4 medals. That’s the best case scenario. It’s a numbers game.

    I’m a born Jamaican 🇯🇲 who used to run track and have always loved and valued the relays…from the technical and teamwork standpoint, especially the 4x100 meter relays. When executed well they are a beauty to watch. I want all of our athletes to earn their money and sponsorships. I am not one of those who downplay the relays…I love them and we should be creative in our thinking about marketing and getting endorsement deals as we are known internationally as the Sprint Factory 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲.

    Gabby has lost to ShaCarri Richardson three straight times in the 100 meters. In fact, I don’t think Gabby will never beat ShaCarri in a 100 meter race. Idk if ShaCarri has a bad start or not. Furthermore, there are about 7 athletes in America and 15 in the world that can beat Gabby in the 100 meters. Gabby isn’t no where close as the fastest women in America 🇺🇸. Also, Allyson Felix was never the fastest woman in America 🇺🇸, but what both Americans have in common. Versatility. They both can run the 100, 200, 300 and 400. These athletes will always win the most medals because they can run 4 events at world-Class speed. My point is, these individuals got most of their medals from relays. They are still benefiting a lot. So, running relays are importance. You don’t have to be the fastest in the world(100 meters individual race) to achieve more success

    No one looks down on the relays Tee - smh. That picture was taken by the Track Club they run for and you cant look at that picture and determine that they're getting paid for it. One more thing.....American endorsement deals goes only to Americans. Madison Avenue wont endorse Jamaican gold medal winners. IF you expect "relay" camps...JAAAs has to pay them for it. (editing this because I just saw the Glenn Mills interview on Sportmax). Tee...the answer to your questions about the importance of the relays is in that interview. Your video seems to be putting most of the blame on the Coaches when MOST of it should be on the JAAAs

      I seen Noah Lyle’s interview with Shannon Sharpe about the relays and from what I heard coaches and sponsors play a huge role in how they go in America at least. He said when he got taken off the anchor leg for the 4x100 that gave rise to other coaches and sponsors wanting to change up the rotation for their athlete. Pressuring the coach to make changes to what already was working.

    The SR relay gold is worth FAAAAR less to her than the 100m gold she "lost". The reality is that the main sponsor pays big only for individual performance. If we want to do better at relays, we have to do what Mills says and have JAAA interact with the pro coaches from early and then prepare a list of the top 25 athletes in the discipline and then have the coaches adjust the athletes programs accordingly. TxT, you argued against your own point when you say even our top stars domino get the same kind of lucrative individual deals like US, UK and Canada, so what do you think our lesser athletes will get from relay gold? Our problem is to figure out how we can get our lesser named athletes to earn enough to pay their bills.

    • @kidscanreadtv6821
      @kidscanreadtv6821 2 місяці тому

      No. It's not the same. The individual effort from the individual races are more respected and likely to get athletes more sponsorships. Relays are fun and interactive. The medals are great for the team and country but relay medals dont really translate to profitability for the athletes if they dont have individual medals. It's great to have, dont get me wrong but an athlete must also prove that he/she can stand on his own.

      @@geraldinemoss2380 Yes it will count as a gold but the relay part will not be hidden. If a sponsor has to choose based on performance they will not choose Gabby Douglas over Julien Alfred. Gabby got 3 golds but 2 of them were relay. Alfred got a gold and silver and both were individual medals. A gold is always great don't get me wrong. But individual medals weigh more when measuring value off of performance and ability.

Jamaica has nothing in the javelin,long jump,high jump,hammer throw,they just won gold in male discus and a bronze in male shot put but its unlikely they will keep that momentum up. You forgot to mention the silver medal won by Wayne Pinnock in men's long jump. I find it so funny that you've already concluded that it's very unlikely that Jamaica keeps that momentum. That statement just proves your ignorance.
      Jamaica has one of the most talked about and mimicked accents and dialects in the whole world. Dont get it twisted, most Jamaicans can speak standard English and know how to communicate on the international scene. That patois is a flavor of choice and the accent is the cherry on top. Your statement proves that you are limited. Usain Bolt made the rounds in US media back in the day and I am yet to hear anyone complain about his accent. You're on here saying that the Jamaican accent doesnt sell in the US when you have Miss Cleo who became a household name with her fake Jamaican accent. Furthermore, there are three Jamaicans in the top ten richest track and field athletes in the world. Usain Bolt being the richest. So considering the island's size and its accomplishment in track and field, many sports journalists and analysts have surmised that it is a track and field powerhouse. Therefore, your opinion is biased and subjective.
