For the 12 months ending March 31 , 2024, Door Dash gross profit was $4.263 billion. As of April 2024, Uber eats generated $12.1 billion. Think about that when they are nickle and diming you.

Not sure where you're getting that. DD has never been profitable. Q1 2024 "profit" was a loss of 23 million.

I've not seen a woman delivery person drop off to my house in I can't even remember how long. There is 100% difference in the way women pick produce and men pick produce. I see you looking, turning, squeezing that stuff. You open eggs and check for breakage. Good work there!

To be fair most of the men I’ve seen on here shopping check for broken eggs and expiration date on milk etc.
I think when they first start, maybe they’re still learning, but many of them have shopped for their own families and if they’re somewhat on the younger side and have not then once they’ve done it a few times and they get some practice, they become pros too. I really feel for them when they get make up and things that they’re not familiar with. But they usually manage just fine.

I was a manager for many years and even my days “off” were never days off. Constant phone calls, texts, and the stress just wasn’t worth it anymore for me. I quit a couple years ago to do DD and Ubereats full time and the freedom I have has been such a relief. I don’t make AS much money now but still make enough to live comfortably and getting to spend time with my daughter has made it so worth it.

I work every single day. For years now. I don’t deliver every day but my family life keeps me JUMPING. I deliver when I can, mostly early morning. I don’t make a lot from it but I ADORE THE FREEDOM! I NEED the flexibility. I’m too old to plead to a manager about a schedule. Never again. Been there, done that. I was a master bartender and still train via Zoom classes. If I don’t have a zoom, I dash. 😆 Dd allows me the flexibility I need with my bar students that are often in many different time zones. I LOVE IT!!! 🥂💗

You are speaking the truth about becoming a gig driver & not wanting to be an employee anymore. I’ve been at my union job for 13 years, I do delivery apps on my days off, so technically I do work 7 days a week, but my 2 days off I choose to do delivery on them because I just love the freedom I have while doing them. I recently cut my 40 hours down to 32 just so I can spend an extra day doing delivery work. I’m verrrrrrry close to putting in my 2 weeks because I just don’t want to deal with the bullshxt I have been dealing with for all these years at my job. I’m a hard worker, I show up and do my job while all the lazy people do nothing day in and day out but when I request days off or want to use my vacation time that I worked for, it’s ALWAYS an issue. I’m just fed up.

I think most of them have had to do with privacy, and MM usually points the camera down when she is doing a pick up and leaves it in the car at the drop off - for sure if it’s a “hand to me.” But otherwise, if needed, she blurs out other people. But definitely it seems to be going around. I’ll knock on my wooden armoire that I’m sitting next to just to be safe 😂but I think she should be fine.

    • @rachmunshine9474
      @rachmunshine9474 6 днів тому +1

Oh, and the other reason could be talking bad about the platform big time all the time. And possibly about a merchant. But I don’t think MM focuses on that. I mean some of the orders if you don’t laugh you cry. But we all already know that. 😊

My daughter works for a bank & restaurant. Her boyfriend was killed back in October-the bank graciously gave her a week paid off, which she had available, but now, we take a family vacation in August, and they don’t want to give her the PTO because she had it back in October-her thought was they offered it, and though, kind of them, she had not requested it ( even though she would have, had it not been offered). She is now arguing to get her time, even though she has it available for vacation 🏖️. As far as orders, I figure a couple dollars 💸 may be a fair tip within say 2 or 3 miles. You have to consider what will work for you. Like, I have to use an old suv now because my son is driving my accord. I have to up it, because it uses way more gas ⛽️ than my Honda, unfortunately. The ones that leave no tip or an 80 cent tip-I don’t know who is picking it up, but I will not. I have a set limit for most part-I may adjust occasionally, if it makes sense, but someone else can do those orders, if they feel they work for them. I refuse to lose money on an order, and some orders do not make sense. I get times are harder now, so I try to be fair, yet they should pay more right now (apps), not LESS, and the problem is they will, if needed, but people are willing to lose money on orders, which I don’t get. Most of the time, I would say 99% of the time, no tip or very low tipping customers, show what they think 🤔 if their delivery person, and try to scam no matter what. I had one the other night, against my better judgement, I had taken that the app was paying well. You could tell it would be an issue, and he was the only one to leave me a bad rating-of course. It comes w the territory, so once again, I will limit & try to judge the orders. It works most of the time. I think I have had one order, where it was a decent tip, and she said she didn’t get an order a few years ago. I had her before, bad area, big for a dinner order, nice tip, but didn’t get her order 🤯-yet she left the tip on? Sure lady because you just got $100 of free food. They need to let us rate also & give feedback on customers. Like, why are the apps paying more to get an order out, pay for whatever the customer says is an issue REPEATEDLY (comment in app let me know this), then we need to deal w it. At least if you are going to let shady ass people on your apps, costing them money, don’t let that kind of customer rate. It makes me so angry 🤬.

Shopping can be an advantage if it is not far and has not too many (heavy) items.
It can also be a nightmare lugging waters up 3 stairs and when things are not available messaging the customer. For the most part though, they tip well. You even get regulars that you see often.
BTW Amazon Warehouse PTO is automatic. So you just push a button to take the day off, go home early, or come in late. It is very nice.

Wait until you get three shopping orders at once. Depending on the items (size, quantity, etc.) it sometimes can be a bit of a trick trying not to mix-up the orders unless you have two separate carts, and then navigating while piloting two carts is a trick of it's own. The big, multi-shelved carts that the store's own shoppers usually have are big, and multi-shelved for a reason!

I was given several weeks to go out of the country. Then one of my managers told me I had to work a Saturday in the middle of the two weeks. I told then it was impossible to fly back 13000 miles 23 hours to work one shift then fly back. WTH
Then same person said I couldn’t have two christmases off in a row. “It’s not fair”
My response “what’s not fair I’ve worked more Christmas’s than all the other nurses combined” most had never worked a holiday before.
Needless to say shortly returning from my vacay mentioned above and the Christmas I broke my shoulder and was off a whole year then retired at the end of the year off

"I do what I want." I have the freedom to make my own decisions, set my own schedule, and never have some jerk-off manager breathing down my neck about some nonsense. Yes, I do have to play by DD's rules, and that does chafe at times. But ultimately, everything I do while I'm dashing is my choice. Sometimes I make choices I'm not thrilled with in order to keep my AR up, etc. But it's still my choice.
DD sets the rules but I call the shots.
Another thing I love about gig work is the change of scenery---getting to go to different places and see different people every day. I couldn't take being stuck in some office or behind some counter, staring at the same 4 walls day in and day out.
Thank you for that latin music during the shopping order. I had a little dance party in my living room. 😂💃I watch these while getting ready for work in the morning, and I was SO sleepy this morning. After busting some moves (badly, but no one's watching 😅), I felt energized and ready to take on my day.
Your story about the weird AirBnb guy had me rolling. Although I'm sure it wasn't funny when it was happening. Sorry that happened to you. I hope you can take some comfort in the knowledge that you gave a stranger a moment of joy. 😉

I bet the "interesting" guy's hamster wheels were turning while you were dropping off. Maybe he is on meds and doing better, hence why he didn't say anything.
Not all w-2 jobs/employers are hellish, but the majority for sure.
My last w-2 job was as a federal contractor. It was a b*tch for the most part. There is always some MANDATORY OT every week. During COVID, I felt like they were trying to kill us, working us 9 hr days, 6 days a week. For the majority f us that was standing in the same area the whole time. They entice you with all those Federal holidays, but it doesn't mean extra days off, as you'll have to work Saturday to make it up. Physically, and mentally I don't miss it one bit. The consistent paychecks were great tho.

every one is talking about this as freedom. well if you like no vacation days paid, no medical, then great. all this gig work is great until the people that are too lazy to shop for themselves dries up. it will. it is coming. plus, paying your 1099 and 13 percent social security because your employer pays half. all the upkeep and wear and tear on your car. nope, not for a career. She is hoping to build her youtube channel up where she is making more on this platform than what she is doing now.

I think most gig-tubers make more on youtube then they do the apps, thats just obvious. It still is a job though, its different then a W2 job but its still a job and if you dont like it thats your choice, if she and others like it its theirs. To each their own 🤷🏼‍♀️ One last thing, people will ALWAYS order stuff online, this is America lol we order crap online even when we cant afford too, its easy and convenient and it will never dry up

MM. First off, thank you for your informative and entertaining videos. You were my "trainer" when I first started dashing. Question, do you use the red card after each shop or does the scanning take care of it? I live in Marion Cty and don't get the number of order offers that you receive. MUCH cheaper customers also. I'm afraid to activate the card because I'm afraid I'll end up with an AR of 1%. I deactivated the card back when I started because the orders were so horrible and my AR plummeted one night. Now I know where to dash and it looks like shopping is a must. Ubs not busy in my area at all. Thanks again for your channel! Be safe out there.

You pay with the red card. Shops are super easy, and it’s nice to give your car the rest while you shop. 😊

PTO stands Paid time off. Maybe the employee just doesn’t pay them when they don’t work. When you gig you don’t get paid unless you work. Maybe it’s just semantics. I wonder if they were simply asking for a day off and not paid time off. 🤷🏻‍♀️
