Read Jane Erye in high school on my own. I couldn't put it down. I even read it in the bathtub! I've never felt that need again. I must reread Wuthering Heights. I recall thinking it was good in high school. I'm into Edith Wharton & Willa Cather & Dashiell Hammett these days. I'm amazed by your commentaries.

Hello, thank you for watching! I've read My Antonia by Willa Cather. I liked it but the framework of the story was a little odd to me. I really wished the end of the story would have gone back to the present to wrap up or understand the trajectory of the novel better. What else do you recommend by Cather?

@@ItsTooLatetoApologize Cather is one of my favorites but admit I am surprised that many think My Antonia is her best book.

@@gs547 having never read anything else by her I can’t say I know any different as My Antonia is the only work of hers I’d heard of. After reading it I was surprised it was included in the Penguin Drop Caps collection I had purchased.

I never really thought about Rochester like that. You've given me something to think about. Great video!

Great analysis! Did you ever change your take on “Wuthering Heights”? People go into it with the wrong expectations. It is not a romance. It is a revenge tragedy. All of the characters are despicable.

I have not re-read Wuthering Heights and I’m sure I would feel a bit differently about it now than when I read it over 20 years ago as my reading tastes have dramatically changed. They are all despicable! I definitely remember that part! Hahaha! 🤣

I owned this novel for ages and finally read it a couple of years ago and really liked it. At least once a year i try to read one of those wonderful english novels. My favorite is Thomas Hardy. Will love a review of Tess, if you didnt make it already. Great review
