[PhilCCA 2024] Media Briefing on PhilCCA with WG 1 Authors

In October 2024, the Oscar M. Lopez (OML) Center released the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐂𝐂𝐀) - 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐈: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬 report delves into the physical science behind climate change, providing critical insights into climate trends and projections specific to the Philippines.
Ahead of the official release, the OML Center, in collaboration with Climate Tracker Asia, hosted an exclusive media briefing on October 9, 2024, via Streamyard. This session featured the report’s Coordinating Lead Authors, Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ, and Dr. Rosa Perez, alongside other contributing experts. Media attendees engaged directly with the authors, discussing the report’s key findings and exploring their implications for the Philippines.

Modeled after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Assessment Reports, the PhilCCA offers a comprehensive assessment of climate change specific to the Philippines. Drawing from both international and local sources, this report identifies critical gaps in climate knowledge and provides valuable data to guide strategic decisions for addressing the impacts of climate change.
The PhilCCA is made up of three volumes:
Working Group I: The Physical Science Basis
Working Group II: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability
Working Group III: Mitigation of Climate Change
