I was able to see the outcome of this elaborate creating process at Covent Garden ROH, on May 3rd, with top artists from Royal Ballet (Cesar Corrales, Lauren Cuthbertson, Francesca Hayward, Melissa Hamilton, Marcelino Sambe, Calvin Richardson, etc.). It was a truly magic performance ... Bravo!

Bob Crowley or Chris must really love purple. Both Alice, Hermione and Perdita all wear the same color in Wheeldon's ballets.

Lovely video! I have always wanted to know more about the process of collaboration between composer and choreographer when there is an original score. Here, Bob Crowley suggests that Joby Talbot composed the music first. I would love to hear more from Wheeldon and Talbot on how they worked from music to dance. It's a really impressive marriage of the two. One thing I love about this ballet is the score, and how tight the storytelling is. Nothing extraneous. It really is a model for contemporary story ballet. I also love how complex and rich the music and dance are in Act II!

There is a Royal Ballet rehearsal video that was uploaded a few weeks ago where they talk more about their collaboration on A Winters Tale.

Last night I went to my local cinema, anticipating very enthusiastically the cinema relay I'd been waiting for all year. I had bought the ticket ahead of time. When I got to the theatre's reception, they informed me that, apparently, the signal coming from England wasn't being read by them, so they had to cancel the live relay. I've seen many Royal Ballet shows through this platform and never before had I heard of any problems, save for one temporarily failing transmission. I haven't been able to find anything about this online. Could you explain to me why this happened? I live in Portugal. Did this happen only in my country, or others? Were you aware of this? Could you have been made aware of it last night? Are there channels of communication between the theatres and the people responsible for the transmission in the Royal Ballet? I would be very thankful if you would answer some of these questions.
