My General, you 've said all about human...we are Lucky there is a supreme (Oluèsan) God bless..good instrumental baking with real authentic yoruba grammar. .thanks
The great philosopher, best meaningful composer, of our authentic Yoruba-dialect, prince Adekunle, will forever be remembered by all generations as one of the best juju artist produced by Nigeria.Prince Adekunle, made his mark and his contributions are indelible in the anal of music in Africa.Every morning i wake up with "Give us this day our daily bread" or "You say that you love me baby" Kosi ore bi Jesu,
Thank you guys for recognising these living Legends. At least some of us younger generation still remember and recognise them. God bless this uploader. i love this
Ohhhhhhh my Dad......I grew up listening to music embedded with wisdom. When I almost forget the depth of Yoruba in it's enigmatic representation, music like this is just reassuring.
This is what music is all about. Listen to the lyrics and beats, I can still remember when my father play this song on turntable. Now when I listen to this song now when am thousand miles away from home. I still feel at home in the cold weather. Love you Papa for always playing this song when I was a kid. Prince Adekunle someone like me will never forget my kids will listen to your songs as well. R.I.P
I always wanted to become a musician but am not gifted to be come but am always happy when ever am listening to our music not this days means less one they are singing now so many songs my father always listing to when am young those music are still have their own important meany full kudos to all Nigerians music legend
Can u stop me from making comments pls.....Super Sonic Sounds.. Where's my Isi-Ewu and Very Chilled Gulder to go with this and some 9ce mature gists going on the round table
This was one of my favourite Juju songs in EVER!.I remember I use to listen to it on Radio O-Y-O and when we are travelling from Ibadan to Lagos for holidays after school vacates. Love the talking drums, drumming and the rhythm guitar.
Would be nice if anyone could post his breakthrough album (1971): "O dile ore meta, ore jo mi mo jo'niyan; ore jo mi mo jore mi". Shina Peters, then 13, could be seen with Adekunle on the album cover. I regard it as his finest piece of music. Then there is "Give us this day our daily bread", 1972, which I used to play to death as a pre-teen, and "Omo niyi, omo nide", in the mid-70s. I think his music derailed a bit when he tried to invent a new sound as a way of avoiding comparisons with Obey.
Not sure you are ever going to see this, but O dile Ore meta was released in 1972, sometimes in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year. My Uncle was the first of the 3 friends mentioned in that record.
Hello Outreachat, I've seen your comments on different juju albums. Your knowledge is so vast. Would you consider writing a book on juju music for we the younger generation? The genre has died and it's so sad. Apart from KSA and Obey, most young people don't know about Admiral Abiodun, Emperor Peters, Jacob Oluwole, Abuja Bello and other great men who hoisted the flag of juju music back in the days.
i was peviledged to meet this duo adekunle and shina atb our house in durojaye,surulere...,shina was so brash even at that age,my bother told me to take a real look that shian, he gonna a a mega star some day.sure eneough, the rest is history
Transition... A great reminder of the evolution of juju music from the likes of apala, sakara and ajiwere music. Hey, does anyone have stuff from Tunde Western Nightingale? Great voice I want to soothe my nerves with.
Anybody ever saw a live performance of Prince Adekunle at Western Hotel on Labinjo Street or at Idi Oro near Kalakuta Republic? Back then, Shina was just Shina before he became Sir Shina. When women with "Big Ass" would place him on their lap during a short break and wisked him away in their Mercedes Benz for a night on!...I am talking about when he was only 12-14 years. Before Shina Peters/Segun Adewale time.
@leknuga1 l soooo agree, l ctually made a similar comment on another of his videos, listen to the funk/ neo soul vibe at the begining of this tune, this was like 30 years ago? and its what we are playing in the west today in 2010, mot musicias will get my point, exactly the same scales i even think these scales are more complicated than anything we have in the west, those who disagree shld pick up a guitar and try to jam to this, you have to jam to this from the heart, you cant really teach it
well, with out african american and south american musics its hard to say there would even be highlife music. but yes, africa does rock. but dont front on the ones living outside of the mother.

Shina Adewale served a long musical apprenticeship in this mans band. Starting sometime during the mid to late 1960s.
