It doesn’t stop...or cut you in half. Just wait a moment and you come down the other side, and still right side up! You will get a brief sight of the chain that the whole system runs on, DON’T TOUCH.
If that is the building which used to be part of Leicester Polytechnic (subsequently De Montfort University) then I used to ride that paternoster twice daily for two years.
I don't want to worry you, but you do realise you're now in an alternate universe? :))
1:11 dont sp00k me like that m8
wow, so you don't get chewed up and ripped apart in the gears, cool
Eh? why would you?
The trick was to do a handstand so you reappeared upside down, or just scream! And that was in '73, 46 years ago!!!
Flashlight please for the over the top.
Overriden both ways is scary especially when you go Down and then it rotates to the other side
You should have done what I did.... Go over the top and come back down doing a handstand!
What happens if you get stuck between the lift and the floor? Does it stop or will it cut you in half?
Did you see the cord on the camera when the lift was coming down.
When you press against that the lift stops
there are sensors that stop it
TheRenaissanceman65 yes, there are.
TheRenaissanceman65 have you ever tripped and fell halfway on and halfway off while it was moving?

Safer than any fairground ride
Ah... i did the same 30 years ago in the same one. Great things.
You've just taken me back 40 years!
That paternoster goes to Narnia
Oh man, I remember doing this when I was there 1993. :)
Wow! If that’s not sped up, it’s the fastest paternoster I have ever seen!
Its completely safe to override. I see no reason why the h&s officer would be there.
Ah, that brings back memories. We had one in the James Went building at Leicester Polytechnic when I was there some 36 years ago. Great fun to ride!
What did you think would happen?
If that is the building which used to be part of Leicester Polytechnic (subsequently De Montfort University) then I used to ride that paternoster twice daily for two years.
I did my MA in archaeology at the top of the Attenborough Tower. So many good memories of using the Paternoster!
Overode it today
QUE GRANDE UN PATERNOSTER en excelente estado!
Good old days
Oh my lord, that thing is still running?!?!
Remember it well
that elevator gives me pure anxiety
I was too scared to open my eyes when I rode it in 2011. Finally seeing what was up there 12 years later.
We used to have so much fun in them. Once 3 of us got on in one cabin and it froze midway and security had to pull my friend out
I always imagined then turning upside down at the top.
the good ole deathevator
Thats So cool
Just before we jumped in my boyfriend told me it went flat at the top 🤣
Last I heard, they were still cleaning Rob's meat from between the gears.
And this is why I didn’t go to uni in Leicester.
I still have dreams about this. 😂
Used to love this. Got rid of it in my final year
Sigh - the memories :)
1:25 soy boy face
I can't believe they took this out over the summer just before I started.
H&S tossers
Oh no!!
Sacrilege. Heritage vandalism.
It's bad to do that it can throw the lift out of balance.
It's not going close to fast enough, and it's over-engineered to cover the potential of that kind of thing.
I dont like elevetor or wc
fart in a bottle
What the fuck does that mean m8?
It's nice to have a hobby, but kind've irrelevant for this video?
What a hideously ugly building!!! 😩
@TheRenaissanceman65 Very true lol
Produced some great intellectuals though..😊
