Cheers Dave, this was actually a commercial release buddy. A late one being 1990, must have been one of if not THE last commercial release for the Beeb I'd have thought. Brilliant game once you get to grips with it.
Yeah its a cracking late release for the Beeb this one, like you say some really nice little details. I don't think horizontal scrolling was a strength of the BBC Micro but the developer did well here. Have a great weekend Ed.
It certainly is brutal(at least for my skills) but not frustrating where it makes you not want to persist. I've been really enjoying playing it, great game. I'm sure Scott is way better than me already😆
Yeah it's pretty amazing for a computer that always seemed to struggle with horizontal scrolling. Shame it was a late release, don't think many people even know of this game. Have a great weekend Stu👍
This looks real good Lee but boy does it look mega tough😲 Another great looking title on the BBC, very much an R-Type clone but a top job, looks like you've had plenty practice 👍
It's really good James, after some practice it isn't a frustrating game at all, quite fun. I guess most of these games require a bit of memorising enemy patterns. The dev did a great job on this game I think, horizontal scrolling never seemed to be a strength of the BBC Micro but this is really good. Have a great weekend mate👍
Great video. Looks like a great game buddy. R-type clone on the bbc really pushing it. The colours just pop😍. Level 5 with the green & red looked 3D ish
@@colincoxhybridgamer906 cheers Colin, yeah this is brilliant for the Beeb, sadly such a late release I doubt many got to play it back on the day. Yeah I really like that level 5 colour palette 😎 Hope you're enjoying your Vectrex, speaking of which I really should do a pickups vid😁
@@Tetlee loving the Vectrex thanks buddy just got to get some games for it. I missed out on a 3 game bundle on EBay. Got an overlay coming for minestorm. The visuals and sound on it is epic 😍
First off lee buddy..... how the hell did they get this on the micro 😮 this looks amazing. Looks hard as nails but one of them ones where you can progress. Great vid lee buddy 😄
Cheers Steve matey, yeah it's a cracking game this one. I think because it was a late release not many people are familiar with it which is a shame really.
It's a bit like R-Type for the Beeb. This particular game got by me first time around as the BBC Micro was pretty much commercially dead by 1990, I was well into my Amiga journey at that point. Not too bad either, it does show the limitations of the Beeb a bit in terms of scrolling and collision detection though. You'll kind of see what I mean if you look at the C64 version or Sega Master System version of R-Type which were released around 3 years before this one. I've probably got this on my BBC MMC drive-so I'll give it a spin. The Beeb is back on my main desk at the moment and the Amstrad and Spectrum +3 are back on the shelf for a bit. I got a decent little lot of games on eBay last week for the Spectrum and they all worked, it was Atarisoft Galaxians, Ms Pacman and Pole Position for just over a tenner. I also got Ms Pacman for the Atari 2600. Payday this week so might pick up another machine.....Possibly looking at a ZX Spectrum 128 toast rack or if nothing is out there I may just buy some weird random thing. Good to see another video Lee and particularly so when it's a game I've not seen before.👍
Yep this is as close as the Beeb got to R-Type I think, must have been one of the last commercial releases for the Beeb I'd have thought. I don't think the Beeb could do horizontal scrolling very well? Certainly no deal breaker here though, tough but fun and rewarding to play. That's a great deal for Galaxians, Ms Pacman and Pole Position. All are good but the first two are brilliant conversions! Nicely done👍
I know the subject matter is irrelevant, but I figure this is the best way to reach you. I received the first of two 30CM Gorgo figures. Have you gotten yours yet?
Hi, no not yet but had been dispatched a few days ago. Being in the UK probably won't receive mine for another week or two. Are you pleased with the figure? I see somebody has reviewed it(you perhaps?) but I'm waiting for mine to arrive so it's a fresh experience opening it for a change(I always watch reviews before receiving).
@@Tetlee I have reviewed it. I'm the third of four videos so far. I absolutely love it. I altered one thing after I filmed the video. I'm waiting for my second one to arrive before I finish complete customizing
Very well played Tetlee I'm traditionally very poor on these, some slick pixelated piloting indeed.⚡️🌠🕹🍀
So am I Patrick, this is about as good as I get, could practise for another 3 weeks and still not improve any😁
What a cracking homebrew game mate, really shows what the BBC was capable of.
Will have to give this a go.

A R-TYPE clone on the BBC Micro 😺👍🕹️.
The graphics look nice,
and the sound effects are pawsome 🐾😺👍.
The gameplay seems kinda frustrating 😹🕹️.
It's pretty great all round I think, for a lesser known release it really holds up well🛸😸
Looks incredible for the micro 😯. Even some cheeky parallax scrolling with the stars.
Cheers for sharing this one Lee.
Have a goodun.

Proper R-tyoe vibes from this which is good as it's one of my favorite shooters
Amazing how good this looks on the BBC.
Great video mate 👍
Cheers Alex, yeah definite R-Type vibes, as close as the BBC Micro got to that I guess. Shame there wasn't a pet of R-Type for the Beeb.
That looks brutal 😮 but also impressive for a Beeb game! I winder how well Scott is doing 😉

Who knew the beeb could chuck sprites around like that! like rtype crossed with darius or something

Looks like a blast mate 🚀🔫
It sure is Richard, pretty tough though🫨
For a moment there I thought you were playing R type 😂 Looks tough but fun, I like it well played mate, I hope you had a wonderful midsummer weekend
Hey Marc, tough but fun sums it up, like alot of these types of games memory plays it's part, trouble is my memory is shot😂

Love the look and colours used but is it me or does it look juddery
Yeah the frames aren't the smoothest, but when you're playing it isn't really noticeable tbh.
Shame you didn't show off the hi-res mode!
@@ftstrange6084 it isn't really worth showing, it makes the screen really small and doesn't look much different apart from that.
@@Tetlee true about the size of the play area, but it does show that the BBC was capable of more than blocky Mode 5 pixels 🙂
