This unit was pretty new with only 19 hours on it when I got it. I put a good 12 hours on it while I had it with no issues aside from eating a couple teeth. This was my fault due to not seeing a rock that was wrapped with the root on one of the stumps.
I was lucky enough to have a good variety of work to do so I have some accurate numbers to share. On anything that was 12-18" and Ash, Pine, or Birch the time was around 10-15 minutes. This could have been sped up by cutting the stump closer to the ground but I left them high for the video. On the bigger stuff I had which was Oak and Maple from 24-32" the time was around 45 minutes per stump start to finish. If you live in an area that is rocky like here in New Hampshire - the insurance policy is an absolute must as the rental company hit me with $3k in wear and tear costs after a rock that was buried in the roots ate up some teeth. Sorry for the lengthy response I just wanted to make sure I answered the question as best I could.

If you cut the stump lower to the ground, you will spend less time grinding. Less wood = less time
Thanks Bob! I was able to bang out quite a few stumps that day but you’re absolutely right I should have cut them lower.
how long does it usually take to grind an average stump with the bandit sg40?
