So, from an old man. Head and eye protection can be a benefit to long term health....youth and being bullet proof has a way of changing...best of luck..
I’ve changed the brakes on my vehicles numerous times without issue. About a month ago, I was driving out a stubborn guide pin and the pin finally let loose, ricocheted and hit my eyeball-coming within 2 millimeters of the cornea. I was very lucky. It took 2 weeks to heal , but you can be only so tough until you loose an eye.
Here's a tip from an amateur. Get spare parts and chains. Especially a sprocket. That was preventable you must not do any maintenance or you would see it wearing out. I don't go on any job without multiple spare bars chains ect. Skip/full. Minimum of 20s 24s. Sometimes I carry 16-36" bars. I have a box with every bolt nut mount spring ect any piece of hardware the saws have all organized. Extra clutches hubs sprockets 7-8 pin. Extra ropes and starter assemblies ect. When I'm around "real" loggers on jobs they always have issues and never any parts. I tore a tensioner out running the rakers too low in my hybrid flat top 64/66 on a job. No big deal because I had extra 66 tensioners in my box. Also extra 66s. I always have multiple saws. I don't understand how big outfits can't be prepared......
Couldn't agree more! This video made me quite annoyed - admirable work ethic but Jesus H Christ he takes so many safety liberties - and then sticks' em up on UA-cam!!
When I logged for a living I would buy the big role of chain saw chain it costs up front but it will definitely save you time and money in the long run definitely with new work hands not having to run to town every time something happens will save you money bud
I agree 100%, also a chain breaker and joiner, make up a few spare chains to have on site, also have a ready supply of sprockets on site as well, that being said hats off to this young bloke with his work ethic and for giving it a go, I am sure he will be very successful in everything he does and he is an awesome role model for young men and women . 1
Justin when you mark a property line when cutting timber spray paint the line on the trees, that's the oldest trick in the book 2 land owners who disagree they will pull the flags or property markers everytime, but if you spray paint the trees on the line they screwed
So, from a younger guy and diesel mechanic.. you only got one set of eyes, ears and limbs. I love the series and hope theres more to come but ppe is no joke even if it is anoying at times. All it takes is one accident to end it all and being on youtube now you will have a much bigger audience if ya know what i mean. Appreciate you taking the time amd wish you the best.
Hey Justin !!! Well, that was a lot of set backs that you really didn't need for sure !!!! With securing the logs on the trailers , you might want to look at " Stan Wedekind's " videos of --Jan hauling off Ball Mtn. parts 1 & 2 & see what they use for tiedowns as a lot faster & easier to work with ???? Hope you have better days coming with Bobby's help !!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Keep ‘em coming, but man get this boy something to work with. Some 55 gallon tanks with hand pumps work great for hydraulic and motor oil plus you can save by buying in bulk. Best of luck!
good work there . Neighbours always think they own more because no one has challenged the line. Yet here we hear that both parties were present during the clarification , now the neighbour is going to say "you took my fence and my pigs ran away ! never ends.
I ran one mill and was a assistant General Manager over 5 mills . Spare parts will save you a lot of them 50 dollar bills . And sometimes you just have to eat some downtime and fix it right the first time so you don’t have so many little break downs they are the ones that will eventually break you beyond reasonable repair.
HI FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE Its great to see you able to run in the game of logging, i know its hard to make a show thats not ; chop, pull, chop stack, lol My kids and nephews like your new show. Now that you're a movie star you gotta run head gear and chaps triming defects off the loggs with the saw on film. Because you would like to go big with this and not crippled, rite? Try Lebonvill's logging supply, they are a family owned company up in the north cuntry here and there make most of there gear in house. And OSHA rated. I like them and I use their products. Now im off to see your other videos
I done cut so many trees with a feller buncher most the time I can look at it from the cab and tell if the property line is correct or not. Most the time there’s a timber change or land change on the property line and get the actual plats from the court house if your unsure. OnX is known to be slightly off sometimes. Those hand pumps are sold at Napa. Look past the pump on the side of the hydraulic tank and it’s a sight glass you can see how much oil is in it. The oil needs to be 2in or so above the sensor beside the sight glass for the alarm not to be going off. You can pour the oil directly out the bucket into the tank from the top but the pump has a separate filter. Sit the bucket of oil in the truck for little while with the heater on high makes it easier on the pump in winter. I put up a few logging videos now and then. I’m in lacrosse va
Well my Son - if you wanna carry on as you are out in the boonies - expect you can same as we could over here in the U.K. but if I was to put videos of it up on UA-cam with so many identifiers - I'd expect a mass visit from the Health & Safety folk in very short order. One job I was on recently had an oil company fuel line running through it and they were checking us out without drones and helicopter.
Just like those $50 bills you speak of, all those moments not wearing ear muffs may not add up quicker than incoming bills but overtime you will buy yourself closer and closer to tinnitus or going deaf. Never a moment where you should be slack with safety
Justin, you need to buy saw supplies from Madsens in Washington. Make your own chain for a third of that price. I bent hundreds of links in my career, just grab the chain each side of the bent link and straighten it best you can to get it back in the bar. It'll rub for a minute but will be just fine once it cuts a tree or 2.
Another awesome video. Appreciate you taking the time to make them for us.looking forward to seeing more . Regards to the family and crew from across the pond
Neighboring property owners are a huge pain - I think everyone knows they removed the survey flags. Stand your ground. Really enjoying your content - binged and caught up so - bring on some more!
Every time I call out property marking companies I call the local PD... That way if anything is altered I have my proof... You can get people in a shit load of trouble for meddling in serious things like this...two folks about six years ago moved flags and ended up paying for the survey company to redo the flags after the constable got involved
SHILTZ CHAINSAWS ARE KOOL, BUT I'M A HUSKY MAN. ALL YA NEED IS A 1/2 INCH 🔧 AND A SCREWDRIVER 🪛 GOTTA KEEP EXTRA CHAINS, SPROCKETS, GREASE, FITTINGS, AND PULL ROPES IN DA 🪵 WOODS. NEED YA SOME CHAPS ON RUNNIN DAT SAW. LAWD KNOW I GOT MY SHARE OF CUTS. THEY HELP ALOT. OF YA CHAIN TOO TIGHT IT'LL BURN UP YA BAR. YALL BE SAFE
A 60 dollar chain saw chain come on man those chains on the cheap side is 16 bucks a piece you can make ur own by buying 100 ft roll of chain for 155.00
hello again from hthe Philippies. I know that Bobby Goodson is going to come back at me with this comment but I got to say it. GET RID OF THOSE LOG TRUCKS FOR NOW. hire the hauling. your only expense other than your logging costs is the haul .NO INS, COSTS ,NO FUEL COSTS ,NO EXPENSES AT ALL. I would sell off that tree cutting machine. Hire independent fallers for now. I would buy if I could a good used Dozer with logging winch and arch and a brush rake downsize your skidders. To me they are way out of proportion to the size of your operation, downsize for now as your business grows so will your equipment. . Also, if you are buying diesel fuel for both your truck and equipment Buy a large 15k 20k gallon size fuel tank and take advantage of the off-road diesel tax. if you have a good accountant and a good attorney talk to both of them about my suggestions if you don't have you need to get both NOW. If I was anyway close to you I would stop by and see your operation, but hahahah I am halfway around the world. hope I haven't upset you or given you the wrong impression.
You need to fire mike buddy he costs you money left and right sure equipment tears up but if the same man is running every piece of equipment that breaks that should tell you something
So, from an old man. Head and eye protection can be a benefit to long term health....youth and being bullet proof has a way of changing...best of luck..
I agree but a man with experience is a safe way to go! Young guy's have to be watched like children! Wake up America

For Sure!! At 23 it's all fun till ya lose an eye and realize you're half blind!!!!
I wish somebody told me to wear saw chaps too it took a hospital trip to convince me. Saws don’t leave much to sew up

Hard hat and eye protection, brother safety, first, and congrats on the newborn I pray for a healthy baby
Break downs are a given in that line of work.
Keep ‘em coming, but man get this boy something to work with. Some 55 gallon tanks with hand pumps work great for hydraulic and motor oil plus you can save by buying in bulk. Best of luck!
Tuff work, hard on machinery and costly repairs. All in a days work.👍
I believe Justin watched and learned a lot from Bobby .😀😀😀
Lol doesn’t look to me like he learned anything from Bobby…this is a comedy of errors vs a real logging crew like Goodson was
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting.
good work there . Neighbours always think they own more because no one has challenged the line. Yet here we hear that both parties were present during the clarification , now the neighbour is going to say "you took my fence and my pigs ran away ! never ends.
I’m enjoying these videos I’m a retired log and lumber guy

Maintenance is a big part of any operation. I learned that when I was a kid. Fix stuff and not band aid it or it'll be a bigger fix later
Man that’s ol Luke. I have worked with that crazy man before. He can do some crazy stuff with a saw
Good to see you kept that fella who got the rig stuck... That shows that you are dedicated to making people better...I'm a subscriber now ❤❤
Keep making videos. Im from Alabama and they log quite a bit for pulpwood and lumber.
Yur a better man then me i couldn't deal with all the pressure of trying to keep a business like that goin..
Love this Justin, thanks for sharing. Seems like a well mannered young man, & very humble to boot.
Awesome job Justin keep up the good work
Keepem coming doing a good job
The one Black guy who fixed the chain ? Should be a Boss!!! It's the experience! Wake up America!

Yeah, got the hand pump back working pretty quick. Finally found the culprit to the oil leakage. Was the swivel in the grapple needed replaced.
Wish excavators had those pumps to fill hyd oil. Congrats on the new baby!
Thanks! And yes the construction industry is a bit behind on the hydro oil fill!

Great video Justin. Really think we will see great things from you in the future.

Great content from a great young man ,, well done
Thanks for the video buddy
Another great video, thanks for sharing Justin.
Great video Justin!!
PM is king. If you’re trying to save time and money, do your regular PM. Breakdowns are extremely costly.
Great video guys! Keep up the good work👍👍👍
I wish Justin a lot of luck he will do ok
have you thought about buying saw chain by the roll and make chains?
Awesome love it
You should in no way be responsible for the stubborn airhead neighbor with the fence.Keep doing what you do best.
Why in the world would you not have strap winches welded on the trailer? Ratchet straps are for homeowners and landscapers
60-75$ chain??? Whats it got gold cutters? Cmon man
Broken rearend in truck no problem, pissing out hydraulic fluid, no problem pinched chain oh no we can't have this happening lol
Saw chaps would be something you might invest in
Saw guys use chainsaw pants / jeans.
Why don't you buy chain by the roll and make any size you need?
SHILTZ CHAINSAWS ARE KOOL, BUT I'M A HUSKY MAN. ALL YA NEED IS A 1/2 INCH 🔧 AND A SCREWDRIVER 🪛
GOTTA KEEP EXTRA CHAINS, SPROCKETS, GREASE, FITTINGS, AND PULL ROPES IN DA 🪵 WOODS. NEED YA SOME CHAPS ON RUNNIN DAT SAW. LAWD KNOW I GOT MY SHARE OF CUTS. THEY HELP ALOT. OF YA CHAIN TOO TIGHT IT'LL BURN UP YA BAR. YALL BE SAFE
Sixth avenue heartache
You can replace the links that are bent
Subbed , why because I operate a chain saw lol an understand the business from Canada 🤘🏽
Enjoy the videos, just a question, why do yall use the ratchet straps on the log trailers and not the straps on the trailer?
Agreed on the straps
All you got to do is replace the bent links, no need to buy whole chain
Very well done ! Thanks for the Education . I am a new Subscriber
Just a bit of free advice, get some hardhats, some yellow vests and some safety boots and ear goggles earmuffs please
ouch nine grand down the toilet those center chunks aren't cheap
Son keep up with the good work But FOR THE LOVE OF GOD put some chaps, ear, and eye protection on! Take it from an old man no joke!
Hard hats steel toe work boots safety glasses
Hey buddy u need to wear them ear plugs.. just trying to help
Nothing like a good property line disagreement.
Where the log?
I use paint rather than flagging.
Got to love karens trying to put a fence up on someones else land
'Benden with Bendon' UA-cam on frame work.
Now you know why earth moving equipment don't have a pump
Great video guy's!!!!
Reason the pump broke is bc you forgot to turn the shut off valve to free flow welcome to logging gonna be getting your hands dirty real soon lol
At least put safety glasses on when cutting wood. I pinched saws, pinched bars, bent chains and had a chainsaw crushed cutting wood.........
Good times
Hi from france
Is that a serious operation or some tv-action-shushshow!?!
Are y’all logging down here in Danville Va
You sell firewood poles
Make sure to buy and wear your safety gear for chainsaw use!!!
What are you doing cutting with a saw. Use your shear
What part of Virginia are you guy's?
Why use hand ratchets instead of ratchets on the trailer
Looks like logging in mississippi
I wish I could buy some hardwood for firewood from you for my bag wood business.
Come to Virginia I’ll sell some!
@@Backwoodsloggers I’m up in Fredericksburg
How many loads a week do you average
Running a log business but don't have multiple extra blades on sight...or even safety glasses??! Mickey Mouse Operation!
A 60 dollar chain saw chain come on man those chains on the cheap side is 16 bucks a piece you can make ur own by buying 100 ft roll of chain for 155.00
No flags use paint lots of it on every tree makes it hard to cheat get mean !!!!!😮
Buck saw
Those ratchet straps definitely not DOT approved.
We’ve had multiple DOT inspections with no issues using them.
Save your hearing now while you guys are young use hearing protection when using chainsaws and heavy equipment

Do you need a well experienced equipment operator?
Yes. We are currently hiring
Does anyone else have trouble with sound on this video
You need to fire mike buddy he costs you money left and right sure equipment tears up but if the same man is running every piece of equipment that breaks that should tell you something
Your going to go broke fast.
Well.... I have been in worse situations starting out. Just encourage and support. Thanks for watching!
Using ratchet straps is not legal
Your videos are loosing sound and messing with the audio.
mr godson wahts your tele phone number?
