Gta5 is supposed to be quick because it’s a more fast paced game. If you had to go through a cutscene as well as lose your weapons every time you got busted in a game like gta5, it would be really irritating.
If they don't kill u in GTA v..they would never be able to arrest you.

You can also get arrested in the Medieval open world game Kingdom Come Deliverance, and you even get a secret “ending” and an achievement if you got yourself arrested in the game’s intro-town

In GTA 3 to San Andreas the cops will only arrest you if you are in a car or a motorcycle if you're on foot they will kill you then point a gun in your dead body😂

On the Elder Scrolls games you actually get to play the game in the Jail Cell when you're arrested there's absolutely nothing to do while in the cell though except try to escape or serve your sentence by sleeping and on the Fallout games because of where there are no more police in the world everyone just kills you if you commit a crime
Only in oblivion and skyrim tho, in the older TES games like Morrowind it just fast forwards the calendar with no option to escape

In RDR2, there are sometimes different cutscenes, gang members will come to deliver you. Happened to me a few times.

Mafia 3 has a lore reason. The NBPD is on the payroll of Sal Marcano (the main antagonist and mob boss of the city). So they're specifically told to kill you. Also If the cops see you fighting the mob, they'll join the fight and try to help kill you
Its a cool detail how in mafia 3 its set in 1968 and you play as a black protagonist and they dont even try to arest you they just shoot you on sight
