That mystery tank explosion was caused by that 80mm mortar hitting directly on the open top hatch of the tank, which in turn likely went inside and blew the tank up from the inside out with enough explosive force to completely sever the tank turret from the body and send it at least 20 ft up.
In terms of real life example. It would be like taking an empty soda liter bottle. Fill it with gunpowder, pack a stick of TNT inside, light it, and put the cap on. Then step into the nearest safety bunker and watch it disappear as well as whatever it was standing on.
The cap might not exist or you will find eventually in a few hours.
Except the hatch wasn't open, and mortars can't do that sort of thing to that much armor in MOWAS2, it must have been a bazooka, if you look closely you can see a project tile come in from the direction of the US machine gun position by the bend in the road next to the tree. It looks like it was fired by the dead guy in the mg position, it looks like he was killed right as he fired it.
Looking back in the video the guy that I suspected killed the tank did in fact have a bazooka.
Not Tactical But the issue with that is if you slow it way down (quick taps to pause and play) you can see the mortar fired first. Then the bazooka fired. If you get it just right and I mean just right you can see that the tank explodes before the bazooka makes contact with it. The bazooka likely cause extra damage and added to the explosion but I don't think it was the big explosive impact.
Not Tactical I can say it is extremely hard to tell for sure. It's a 50/50 on either the mortar or the bazooka. They almost fire within seconds of each other but the distances between the tank, the bazooka, the mortar and the timing of the explosion are milliseconds apart.
Diplex this map would be perfect for a last stand map where Germany is defending in the last days of war!

Nah... as Diplex mentioned in video.... it's always about Germans last stand. On the other hand, it would be more interesting to have Soviets as attackers, as an alternative history scenario. You know... Stalin order his troops to move to west to steam-roll Allies and this would be american alpine fortress. (sorry for not perfect english)

it is a little bit to complex for that.
Minor detail, trenches usually have an extension or a tunnel to the back lines to allow soldiers to retreat. called a "communication trench"
Fort/Base defense battles are hands down my favorite. Diplex you kickass.

Another awesome battle video. :] really enjoyed it. I was kinda rooting for the Germans to win as I personally find their vehicles, units and point of view more interesting. Can't wait to see the German's next attack with more Porsche king tigers hopefully.

You should do Americans vs. Soviets. Operation Unthinkable. Preferably with this American defense, but give the Soviets rocket artillery to counter the Americans' indirect fire. I love a good artillery battle.

great video. thought I wasn't gonna like it since the Germans weren't defending but shoulda had faith, you don't disappoint.you could get like 2 more videos out of this map in my opinion. probably more. America barely one because the infantry got bogged down because mow AI doesn't know advancing and the mortar just shredded them. also that tiger had Germany's version of Tom hanks pistol master, just wrecking all those around him with nothing but a walther p38.

US Marines at khe sanh, 2000 marines fought off over 50k nva. Another case 220 marines ran into an nva division and the marines fought so hard the nva withdrew.
in the part 2 the americans should take that pz4 and use it, it's only tracked.

Next video you should allow the Americans to use the Tiger II as a stationary gun platform. Battlefield salvage. Maybe dragged across the road as a roadblock
Its funny how every time the defenders always have this massive amount of fire support from artillery and armoured vehicles. And here we have 3 - 5 artillery 1 tank a 2 mortar crews. YAY BALANCE!

That was a good entertaining battle, to see it continue in the next video with the Slugger still there on that road waiting for the next German tank to cross, and the US forces reinforcing that trench, would be cool as fuck.

Diplex you should make the next map cover the hill and the farther back entrenched area since the hill was still fully operational maybe have the units that survived in the trenches move up to reinforce the hill instead of falling back. Maby script it so that they are still moving up the hill when the second wave of germans shows up.

you should use this map and have an at-at walking down the middle road with at-st's accompanying it as storm troopers rebel trenches blocking the city down the road the trenches with the at-st's fire support

Natasha Wolff Probably not part of those series since Germans attacking American fort is not really realistic as part of 1946 battles.
it could be that the Germans were so successful that they were able to go on the offence, and the Americans built a fort in defence of like a major port or supply depot or something

I'd just like to say since I was in the military a platoon is three squads of 9 men and one weapons squad three platoons like that one platoon called hq which holds the medics motor teams radio comms and the first sergeant and captain which is the head officer for each platoon there is one officer and one platoon sergeant and every battalion has four to six companys and every brigade has up to four battalions and every division has four brigades

suggest that you to do a game with you taking full control of the attacking or defending force and see how the result compares with the full AI mode. AI in many cases do things that are not strategically correct or misuse the assets at hand. Would love to see you, an experienced player, to do things with the right tactics.
