    Shorten those rear lower links and clock the C-Hubs. Less chance of having a rod end pull off of the link.
    Also, get rid of the offset in the rear wheels if they are adjustable. Tucking them in will help with the C-Hubs catching as well as providing more gate clearance.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Місяць тому +3

      You are 100% correct!
      It was after this video I changed the links and re-clocked the portals.
      The wheels are adjustable, so I think I will narrow them in.
      Thanks for the wisdom!

    Looks good. Crazy somebody actually messed up the geometry of the rear axle.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  26 днів тому +1

      The good news - they make it so you can do the geometry on the rear however you want. Some guidance in the manual would have been nice - but some tweaks after this video have made a big difference.

    That drive shaft you can try a spring in the shaft to push on the inner shaft to keep it in place

  • @eromao8927

    You don need to adjust the rear C-hubs.
    They will give you the the same car hight as they are in the position you have now.
    I think they're idea is to have the rear c-hubs the maximum possible to the front to facilitate the obstacles passage without compromised the final hight of the portals.
    If you turn one of the rear c-hub and let the other in the manual angle (that seems strange) and check the car hight in the wheels fixation is the same hight in both sides.
    Thank you for the review I have mine assembled and now I can barely wait to put it on the rocks! 🎉

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  29 днів тому

      Hi there! Thanks for the opinion!
      I am much less concerned with rear height vs having a place to hang-up and the wheelbase length that I desire.
      For my use, adjusting the rear c-hubs will be a better solution for most situations.

    • @eromao8927
      @eromao8927 29 днів тому

      @@RoadsideRC I just realized after my comment that if you turn theme to the other side is going to slide on the rocks and probably solve the stucking problem in the c-hubs that you have in this vídeo. 😅🎉

  • @SmallCarsBigFun

    Love the paintjob on the cab, that blue and copper works really well together! Would it be possible to drill a small hole in the back of the plastic housing for the driveshaft and add a screw or pin there to stop it from moving backwards too much but still have the possibility to take it out for disassembly or would that upset the balance too much?

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks! That is a solid suggestion for the driveshaft! My son also suggested putting something inside of it to take up room.
      Honestly though, I shortened the lower pinks and re-clocked the portals. That has solved it.

    • @SmallCarsBigFun
      @SmallCarsBigFun Місяць тому

      @@RoadsideRC Maybe they will straight up sell an extended driveshaft later on if more have that issue. I assume a 3d printed driveshaft will just disintegrate as soon as you get stuck on something even slightly so it needs to be aluminium, so your son might have the best solution, cheap and easy and might be enough with a piece of paper towel even, so it just doesn't slide in all the way in

      @RoadsideRC  28 днів тому

      I agree - checked it multiple times, doesn't seem tight.
      I actually wonder if it is a mesh somewhere else in the trans that is causing it.

    Maybe someday, the music in videos will be on a separate track, one that we can turn off. It would instantly improve darn near everything.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  16 днів тому

      Ha! Yeah - can't ever please everyone!
      Having a separate audio track, as you suggest, would make it so folks could modify it themselves.
      From my side, there is no winning. I have videos with music: folks complain.

    I like the chassis but the cheap way they did the rear portal with link style lockouts ruins it for me. I know it's for optional rear steer but man it looks very 2007ish.

  • @Bonitacreekrcs
    @Bonitacreekrcs Місяць тому +3

    The rear element portal axle isn’t good unless you do rear wheel steer. Trying to get it to drive straight is really hard and it wouldn’t have been hard for them to make an axle with fixed portal boxes. And the c-hubs will strip out and rotate on the axle tube. Element straight axles already had that problem but the portals exaggerate the problem. It’s over priced too.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Місяць тому +2

      I have found getting the rear tires aligned correctly has been a little difficult. But, I am curious what effect some toe changes would have on performance...
