Beautiful rhythm. I learn and play w- african rhythms on djembe and dunduns for more than a decade, but have never come across or worked on this one. I like it's offbeat feel and accents. Thank you.
sanja is other name for lamba or jelidon. one of the trickiest grooves and thus Weedie counts it on incorrectly. His "one" is rushed by one quaternote. cheers
LOL do you know who you are talking about? Weedie is playing the djembe since the age of two. I would trust him rather than any one else. Sanja is actually very tricky for the rest of us but Weedi’s précision deserves anything but admiration.
It would seem its all about the soloist. People setting down a beat for him to do his thing. Seems pretty pointless. A lot of work for one guy to show off.
Please keep in mind you are only seeing an edited 26 minutes of well over two and a half hours of class footage! It was a great class and we learned a ton.
He is a truly great hand drummer. One of the best.
this is where jazz drumming originated
I miss seeing the videos of Weddie and Amadou drumming on UA-cam
love it jah
He's a great teacher cus i was in his class before
miss you at our drum circle Weediy 😢I know you are super busy
Weedie.
Very nice. What kind of rhythm was he teaching here?
The rhythm was "Sanjan" if I remember correctly!

Correction, the rhythm is "Lamba"!
My apologies!
No problem. Thnx!

Maestro, you should make a video demonstrating.
