A quick history lesson for those who blame Democrats and blacks. Once upon a time there were 4 big steel mills in the area, Republic, Inland, Bethlehem, and US Steel, all of which were built in 1900-1915, all was good through WW2, after the war America and it's allies rebuilt the economies of Germany and Japan all through the late forties and the fifties. All the while were building new steel mills in Germany and Japan with new technology the aforementioned American steel mills were paying dividends to shareholders instead of investing in the mills with the latest technology, by the time the 60's arrived we could not compete with the new mills in Germany and Japan, their steel was cheaper to produce and of better quality than our 1900's era tech. By the late 60's, early 70's they weren't near as profitable as before and once the Republican President Nixon opened trade with China in the early 70's it was game over for manufacturing in America and the unions refused to make concessions to the new reality that Westinghouse aren't being made in the US anymore and they aren't using steel from America. Westinghouse is just one example (check out Benton Harbor Michigan where they used to make our washers and dryers)...I meandered, sorry, back to present day, Republic Steel - gone, Inland Steel- gone, Bethlehem Steel now Mittal Steel, US Steel down from 13 blast furnaces in the 50's to now one and I think the downfall of Gary has more to do with greed by the mills and the unions along with a side order of bad government on the state and federal level.

Sad to see Gary Indiana in such a crappie situation everything is in ruins and decaying and falling apart they tore down that Wallace high school that my mom went to in the 70s sad to see stuff like this go downhill flint Michigan is way worse on another spectrum wow so many buildings destroyed and burned and vandalized and other stuff i hope my mom doesn't see this video or my aunt they both grew up there before moving to California 😢
At one time Gary was a booming city and now it's just caving in on itself and is a scary & dangerous place to visit especially at night...
Home of true world famous king of Pop Mike Jackson👌
Michael Jackson grew up in Gary… sad to see it like this…
Is there any news on the new Chicago airport?
I would have a heart attack if I drive down this alley full of debris. 10:58
Shocking, just smh.
Yo Charlie when you coming up north in Winnipeg??
You can see the priorities of the people still living there. Look at all the new vehicles.
Imagine if Merrillville wasn't formed by all the business and city workers that left in '68 taking all the tax money with them and Gary's southboundary was around 231 like it should be. All those new industrial buildings would be Gary tax dollars,
Broken houses and broken streets, but fairly expensiv cars !!
I do not see the Jackson’s?
It doesn't appear any of their wealth came back to town.
It's because they left in '68 and never looked back.
@10:55 Imagine walking down that road at 2am 😟😳😱😱👻
The trees suffer from the chemtrails.
Drove through Gary on a roadtrip to Chicago… I’m grateful that I just stayed on the highway and didn’t have to actually venture into the city :/
В Нью-Йорке почему автомашина не нужна, есть транспортная инфраструктура!!! Создание ее несет развитие

Bill Clinton when he started shipping heavy industry to China.
That’s not from the power of splitting the atom. That is the result of black power.
Mayor Richard G. Hatcher
@@paulbernacki641Hatcher was a carpet bagger from michigan city. His main goal was to destroy gary, Especially glen park. He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. I hope he is currently in hell.

А ведь дома, для США в принципе нормальные. Дайте народу работу и будет хороший район.

I love Gary, good people there.
You're kidding right?
I remember when I would go visit my grandparents for the summer and how every time I went you could see how Gary was diminishing. Last time I went the only house that looked halfway decent was Michael Jackson’s old home.
Wrong! The worst disaster for Indiana is Mike Pence.
Another video with a perfectly matching sky. 😕😕
I wonder why this neighborhood looks like this. 🧐
The steel mill industry was declining because of competitors and other businesses and people couldn't find jobs after that and that's when the steel mill industry in that city was gone that was the only thing keeping that city going nobody knows what actually happened after that from what i heard it's been like that since the late 70s all the way until now
@@YeseniaCargill721 Thank you. I was truly being sarcastic.
