  • In 1966, the year Walt Disney died, 240 million people saw a Disney movie, 100 million tuned in to a Disney television program, 80 million bought Disney merchandise, and close to seven million visited Disneyland. Few creative figures before or since have held such a long-lasting place in American life and popular culture.

Walt Disney doesn't seem like he was a real person lol. His name is so famous and so well known throughout the world today. But he was real. And such a genius and such an icon no one ever in history or in the future no one will ever match. He gave the world a culture of Mickey mouse. He will never be replaced

I remember being a wee one and reading a biographical comic about Mr. Disney that was in an issue of Disney Adventures. I’m guessing it was in 2001, because that would have been his 100th birthday. It talked about his childhood friendship with Walter Lantz, and about the Alice Comedies, and about “Disney’s Folly”. But I don’t think it even mentioned that he died. Maybe, consequently, I thought he was still alive. :(
On a happier note, a baby African elephant was born recently at Louisville Zoo. One of the finalists in the naming contest was Walt. Yes, folks, after Mr. Disney, as per the submitter. Did the precious one have a bloodline from Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
(The elephant’s name ended up being Fitz. You might say his name sent me into *Fitz* of giggles.)

The story goes that they were SURE they were going to find a bunch of drama and dirt on him and they had set the mood of the production based on that. And then, in researching, they found nothing. But the dramatic BS mood of the piece was kept in place. It's why they focused so much on the red scare/union thing. It was the worst thing they could find on the guy.

Some of the film critics here put on the guise of knowing Disney first-hand. They didn't. Schickel makes the most presumptive assessments as pretend-facts about the inner gears of Disney's psyche. I didn't know Disney either but if one reads enough from different sources, it gets easier to suss out who's full of crap. The lesson I learned is that if you can put on being an authoritarian or ride on the success of a previous worthy publication you can sweep a whole class of people off their feet.

3506Dodge First about the Women In that time most women didn't work and so what the divided the company into sections. The man said he was asking about the woman he thought was Jewish for Walt. Was he really since alot of the men working for Walt were Jewish. And now for the Hindu man. Now back then , you should know history, was VERY different
You didn't have to be racist to follow the rules. As wrong as they were . A little known fact that Walt was VERY Upset with the fact that James Baskett couldn't attend the premier of The Song of The South because the Theater won't allow African-Americans in side. And later he did hire African-Americans.

Shame on PBS. This documentary was so biased on Walt Disney. The second part wasn't bad but they focused so much on the strike in the first part and painted walt as a hypocrite who didnt care about his employees. Furthermore, they relied on authors and historians almost solely to tell the story of Walt, when they had people who were still alive and had first hand experience working with Walt Disney that they used so sparingly, it was really odd. We wish we could make things available forever (licensing contract expiration, among other things, mean we think a lot about this). So even though it's no longer streaming, there are other ways to view the film. If you go to that link, you'll see some other options to find the film. As of November 15, 2018, that includes iTunes, shop PBS, Google Play and Amazon.

@@austindreher2791 I am very sorry to burst your bubble but Walt Disney was a horrible guy. I am not bashing you in any way, just trying to help you to open your eyes as to how this world really works. RIGHT NOW is a very critical time for all of the world's civilians to think outside the box, USE THEIR OWN BRAINS, and not take anything the main stream media spews at us as gospel. Not sure if you know this but the MSM is owned by the evil cabal that has had control of world events for decades. They are slowly losing their grip and information is going to start hitting like a bombshell. Again, please don't take offense and if you have questions, I'll try and do my best to answer your questions or at the very least point you in the right direction. He didn't even like kids, he simply tolerated them. If you know anything about Free Masons, the 33rd degree is said to be the highest a man can get to, and what was the name of Disneys secret club called? Club 33. Here is a link with several videos you can check out (or not if you just want to keep your eyes and ears closed to whats really going on 🤷🏾‍♂️. It's scary stuff but has been very eye opening for me, and I would now consider myself AWAKE.) Don't fret though, Disneys NOT the only horrible famous household name that did or does partake in this type of lifestyle.
