  • In this video we will classify the three major types of sedimentary rocks (clastic, chemical, biochemical) and give examples of each. You can learn how to casually drop terms like haboob, coccolithophore, and conglomerate into conversation. Finally, we explain how each type of sedimentary rock is formed and the settings where they could be found.

    A very good tutorial for my geology class. It was a little over six minutes and covered all the basics; for instance, types of sedimentary rocks and how there formed. A great short introduction to the subject of sedimentary rocks.

    The following points may be helpful: 1) Siliciclastic and carbonate sediments and sedimentary rocks are substantially more abundant than chemical sediments and rocks. Volcaniclastic sediments are for the most part not derived from the erosion of older rocks. 2) While it is undoubtedly true that studies of modern sediments and environments inform the interpretation of ancient counterparts, the geological past provides evidence for settings and processes quite different from those of the present day, and for the long-term evolution of the planet. 3) The clip seems to imply, perhaps unintentionally, that composition and texture are enough to interpret sedimentary rocks. That is rarely the case. Sedimentary structures and larger scale layering patterns are also important.

    Why is heat not a major agent in sedimentary rocks?

    • @BlGGESTBROTHER
      @BlGGESTBROTHER 3 роки тому +2

      Sedimentary rocks form at the surface of the earth via wind, water, mechanical, or chemical erosion. That means that most sedimentary rocks never have a chance to be buried deeply and subjected to high amounts of pressure/heat. This is not always the case and there are metasedimentary like slate, marble, and pelite that are subjected to metamorphic conditions.
      Igneous rocks on the other hand often start life deep within the earth's crust and/or mantel and are molten and super-heated when they are deposited.

    When we look at the many horizontal strata that we find everywhere on our planet, we see clearly the effect of a repeating natural event. These strata are caused by a regularly recurring disaster. These disasters are mentioned in ancient books as the Mahabharata from India and the Popol Vuh from the Maya and others. They tell us about a cycle of seven disasters that separate world eras. Regularly recurring disasters can certainly not been caused by asteroid impacts or volcanic eruptions. The only possible cause can be another celestial body, most likely a planet, that orbits our sun in an eccentric orbit. Then it is near the sun for only a short period and after the crossing it runs into the universe for a long time. Planet 9 exists, but seems to be invisible. These disasters cause a huge tidal wave of sea water that is pulled over the earth. At the end it covers the earth with a layer of mud, a mix of sand, clay, fossils from sea and land animals and meteors. They also create a cycle of civilizations. To learn much more about the cycle of recurring floods and its timeline, the recreation of civilizations and ancient high technology, read the eBook: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". You can read it nicely on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Search for: invisible nibiru 9
