Current updates I managed to find out which IC is on charge of either passing AV input and the receiver so this will give us the way to hijack the signal now I need to figure out a way to execute the mod as clean as possible and keep In mind not everyone is a master at soldering .
Drone Mesh when you're done with diversity what do you think of opening up the lens module things and trying to put in some sort of lens (fresnel?) To make the screen look bigger ?
+Hamza Mohammad I am not an expert or have any knowledge in lens but maybe I can find a eye doctor specialist who can help me try something but the mechanics of the lens seem a bit complicated and the doc might want alot $$$.

I gotta give you props man. I love the way your mind works. I just stumbled across your Channel randomly several months ago when you just had a few hundred subscribers. And I subscribed because I could tell right away that you were sharp and that you would be doing some interesting stuff on your Channel. So far you have not disappointed. Keep up the good work man!

Kinda upset against stew because he has been negative about "fake" diversity so I bought the RX5808 but when I saw how "bad" fake diversity is, I definitely think that the mod is not worth it...

Just cut the traces, add a switch between the modules and you won't have to desolder it (which is a hassle) :) I find that useful with my hacks at least. Keep up the good work, really love your channel!
What if the traces go backwards underneath the module? 🤔
Henrik Sandaker Palm in this case, it seems really unlikely due to the rest of the electronics. But if so, then it will most likely come out through a via on the bottom side, so I'll measure my way to the correct spot. Either way, the trace will have to join with some soldered component in the end, never found it hard to find out which if you have good light, maybe a magnifier and a multimeter :)

Im waiting on mine. I plan to pull the stock module entirely, add a pin header to control side as well as antenna side (to use stock antenna locations), cut a hole in the case, print a cover and the use any module I want with slight mod to the new receivers stock antenna points.
Why do you think they left the RX board exposed and not shielded like every other module I've seen? Wonder if that is reducing the receiver effectiveness? Love your work!

Very awesome man. I really hope they take what you did and allow modules, increase the screen size, and release a V2. I think they would be able to squeeze that into a sub $200 price point.

Another sugestion how to separate video out: Take Dremel tool and cut output pad on PDB to half - if you also shortern output pin on internal module then I think that there will be enough space to solder wire to external module and internal module will not be connected.

at this point after modding it seems like it could be a pretty good set of goggles even with the price of all the parts needed.

I pre-ordered. But I canceled my order when I watched Kabab FPV's review of this goggles. Buying cheap is always more expensive.
I'll stick to Fatshark.
Fatshark could do with a good modding up lol, lots out there are not impressed with them. Buying cheap is not necessarily more expensive and if your smart enough to know the differences and like modding, it may teach the manufacturers what is needed in a GREAT set of goggles at the RIGHT price.
My feelings are, we are all being ripped off anyway with these behind the times goggles that should be way better value for what one gets.

Just make sure you show where you can do the audio L/R bc I happen to like hearing the quad when I fly out far enuf that I can't hear it no more... great work!!

That is a really cool mod. Would it be possible to ad the diversity module kind of as the second antenna. So the original module can switch between one antenna or the diversity module, which ever has the best reception

2x props!!! Indeed very nice what you did. Lots of review but you were the first one to mod it (kebab opened it first... props for him too). I can't wait to receive mine and start on that upgrade.
A question though: There are two sets of three empty pins in the board( GND, RST, SWIM / GND ,RX,TX). Are those for flashing the fw ?

You can desolder chips, caps... from that receiver on googles and you will be done
BuzzCola 3 Yes but I want to add some.kind of switch to enable you to switch between receivers. I could of easily done it through A/V input or desolders the receiver but I want more flexibility with less risk. :)

How did you figure out which pin was what? I get how you found ground and 5v but not sure about the rest. Did you just trace them on the board or something?

hmm ... seems there is a bit of space under that board. u think we can fit a dvr in there ?!... planning the same mods .. didnt got them yet. just that the my RX pro diversity isnt working. good job .. infact was easy to just look for the datasheet of the rx5808

Did anyone else notice that the IC chip to the left of the video out on the goggles Rx has had the Product # removed?(ground off) it looks that way to me- for $ 99 I dont think these goggles are that bad really? for someone who is not into racing and just want the FPV experience I think there are a Good deal
This could be a stupid question but could you mod an AV cable to connect to the diversity module and get power from the battery connector for the DVR, with voltage step down in between? Would make it all external and still allow to use the AV in on the goggles to connect to a PC for practice. Just an idea I'm playing with but I don't know enough about these things.

What's about their screen dimension, is it really that small that it's a problem or everyone is whining about nothing? Can you open up goggles to see the screen and everything inside ?

What are those solder pads under the Ribbon Cable?
How about a mod to magnify the screen to make it larger. I put my Goggles on ebay today because I'm not comfortable with the small screen after getting use to the Cyclopes V2 and I was seeing double.

Nice video! Pretty cool! BUT...and a HUGE GAME CHANGING B U T , Is the FOV of only 28 degrees and the tiny, itty bitty screens. Watch Kabab FPV's video on these goggles - Before you Buy!!!! He gives you the straight dope about them and their truly HUGE short comings. Anyway, spend your money however you would like, but these are definitely not ready for prime time.

Sorry what's the point, but by the time and $$$$ spent Why not just buy some other goggles with what you wanted in the first place? What's next... adding a DVR... sure why not! Picking it apart is very cool though. I wouldn't do it to mine; if I had any.
Invent Tor there is a DVR coming out for them that plugs strait in.
Invent Tor most people that buy 350$ fatsharks end up replacing the modules what's wrong with doing that in a 100$ set? you're saving 250$ by spending a little time with a soldering iron seems like a pretty good deal to me.

¡¡¡ total !!! tanto quebradero de coco ,para al final tan sencillo como conectar el diversity y el dvr al conector de AV que tiene las gafas , unos quitando el modulo RX que al final rompen las gafas , otros soldando cables en lugares que no sirven de nada , para al final con solo conectar positivo y negativo para alimentar el diversity y dvr de donde sale para el ventilador, y en la clavija yak AV poner un negativo del modulo y el cable de vídeo y listo , muy sencillo nada de romper y muy limpio , ¡¡ eso si acuérdate de poner siempre las gafas en AV para ver a través del diversity de otra manera seguirás viendo atraves del modulo interno de las gafas ev100 pero sin antenas y a 10 mtrs te quedaras sin vídeo , mas menos como si quisieras ver una peli o jugar al simulador con las gafas
