Awesome!! Thrash/Death metal band from Germany started in 1986!
This is their first demo titled "Protector of Death"
Recorded and mixed at White Lines Studio, November 1986.
Included on the Echoes from the Past and the Welcome to Fire compilations.

My favorite of Protector. The sound and atmosphere in this demo is killer.

Hehe yea man 1986 was a very distinct year for metal music! Kreator-Pleasure to kill, Dark Angel-Darkness Descends, Sodom-Obssessed by Cruelty, Sepultura-Morbid Visions, Destruction-Eternal Devastation, Tankard-Zombie Attack, Onslaught-The Force, Possessed-Beyond The Gates, First Morbid Angel ,Sadus, Coroner, Sarcofago Demos..just to name a few :D
And all delivered with conviction .....

This has always been an exceptional demo, and I still have no doubt about it after listening to it after many, many years. The brutality, the atmosphere, excellent riffs and vocals. Amazing stuff.
Amazing first effort - more Black/death oriented than thrash if you ask me ... I love their albums.
That Synth is Sweet
Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, and these guys are/were the real Big 4 of German thrash metal.

i dont know they did influence the style of death metal with their vocals and guitar riffs.

This is great to hear. The german thrash bands tended to have a harder, rawer, and more aggressive style that there American counterparts. This demo proves that. This early demo seems to have black metal style vocals and a black/death thing going on. They seem to be a bit heavier and darker than their peers. By the time 1991's A shedding of skin came out they had turned into a much more death metal influenced band with only slight thrash metal drippings throughout and some black metal sprinkled but primarily death metal.. It is cool to see where they started from. They were right in the mix of the other well known german thrash bands sodom, kreator, destruction etc. So I always struggle to see why albums like A shedding of skin, The heritage, or earlier gems like golem and urm the mad aren't well known classics throughout the scene. Because there were so many great bands many of which may have remained in obscurity, im constantly finding great albums and great bands that may have only put out and album or 2. Just because a band didn't become one of the big 4 or a household name amongst the scene does not mean a damn thing. Lots of times they didn't have great management, publicity( very few metal bands did in the early days) or there was constant lineup change, inner turmoil in the band etc. There are many gems to be discovered

1986: This demo and Reign in Blood. What a f***ing year! I was 4 years old!
Andrea Fiori l was in middle school jamming to ALL of this stuff! Pleasure to Kill also came out that year! It came out the summer of ‘86 (l think) & Reign ln Blood was released that same Fall!
I was 9 and started listening to Metal a bit later, maybe with 12 or so..cant remember.
Great time to be born anyway, haha

from my opinion the german music the best brigade of thrash -assassin-violent force-tankard -battlefield-holy moses etc&thats all the real true first wave of thrash genre music they all have a big influnce..
These guys were a little more obscure than the regular thrash bands.
