Confessed killer Flavio Hlabangwane has been sentenced to life behind bars.

that's not correct, you must serve a minimum of 25 years before you can be considered for parole. however if there are mitigating factors such as behavior and education and training undertaken in custody, one may be considered for parole much earlier than that.
